Great to hear James. I am on my 5th American Coach. I am currently in a ‘23 American Eagle. I am heading to General RV today to order a ‘25 Eagle. I am with James. My experience with Rev in Decatur Indiana, and General Rv in Tampa has been far above expectation. We drive a lot of miles in our coach and it is such a joy to put it down the road. Like James, we have done a couple upgrades. Since we had the lithium batteries we put in a second inverter to run the front heat pump. That has been a game changer. It always good to hear the good. Remember, when it’s bad they tell 10 people, when it’s good maybe 3 hear it. Thank you for this segment.
What a guest - well informed and very articulate. Great info and perspectives. Upgrade discussion and why the upgrades was most informative. Thanks for bringing him on
I’m near Tulsa we are considering lxe and palisade. We have been to Bob Hurley a ton of times looking at 40m. They sold the 44 before we could see. We are headed to Tampa show before we make a final decision this January.
James, I like all your upgrades in your Discovery and I like that you wasted no time to do the upgrades plus they are done right from the water/softener system, the solar/battery system, the enormous LED light and sound upgrade. Well done 👍 and that’s for your advice.
It took some planning but you’re right, zero wasted time. Picked from the dealer and delivered to detail shop for ceramic coating the same day, then to my friends at cross country RV and solar in Michigan, adjustments in Decatur and over to Boogey Lights within the first 30-40 days. Suspension and stereo were a few weeks later due to waiting on custom parts.
@ if I ever decide to put a substantial amount of solar/batteries in my Class A I will check out your friends at Cross Country RV and Solar, especially since I live in Michigan. They get great reviews, thanks again.
James, I loved your story about your rv experience. I love how deep you are getting into upgrading your coach. Good, practical stuff! I wish there were more power users like you or that the manufacturers would enhance their units further up in quality. Congratulations!!
James had some awesome advice especially touring the service area and what to look for. I never really thought about doing that but i definitely will in the future. Great guest… very knowledgeable.
Thank you Izzy and MJ for interviewing James! It was a great interview! He did really well talking of his Discovery! I like it. Nice that he got all those upgrades on his Rv. Glad he went through having an inspector and talked to service department. Getting to know people is great! I was in a Discovery we rented years ago to camp in and it had a garbage disposal. Does this one have one? Lol! This Fleetwood is a lot nicer than the we had. Glad you interviewed him. Thank you Izzy and Mj!
Thank you for the kind words. My unit does not have a garbage disposal but it is something I’ve discussed with my technician “Ed”. Tough to avoid the random piece of pasta, corn or cheese headed into the grey tank. My thoughts are if the toilets are macerating, perhaps it makes sense to do the same with grey dishwater.
Thank you for the answer. That was quick. Just curious if you had one. But ya they should put them in. It’ll grind the food up instead of throwing it in the garbage. You’re welcome for those kind words. It’s the truth. Glad you came in for the interview. It was nice seeing you and hope to see you come on again. Nice talking to you! Hope you have a great Happy Thanksgiving! In your new Fleetwood Discovery!
He’s from Tulsa…actually Bixby! So cool! James is so eloquent. Great interview! We live in S Tulsa and just bought our “new to us” first RV in October. It is a 2023 Escape 5.0.
I was expecting to hear his very first upgrade was to place an order with Brooklyn Bedding. 🙂 Our very first, and current, coach has been a 45' Class A so we really jumped into the deep end of the pool and have learned a LOT in the past 6 years. There's always something needing your attention.
Been very happy with the upgraded mattress that came with the coach (surprising) but I did get the bedding from Beddy’s thanks to Izzy and MJ. The zipper bedding makes washing the sheets or leaving camp a breeze.
@@MegawattRV I've seen that zippered bedding and may show it to the wife again. Love the Boogy lighting and it looks like it was quite a project. Are you happy with how it turned out and the way they installed it? Do you remember about how much it cost ?
Really enjoyed your interview with James! He is certainly articulate and able to tell his story in a way that the listeners (me anyway) feel at ease and comfortable with the content and message. Yes, big Class A DP (and gassers) are a handful relative to maintenance and the associated expense...if you are handy, the whole sitch is a bit more tolerable. Our bump from the Fleetwood Southwind 34A to the Discovery LXE 44H has been awesome! Take care guys, happy trails!!
This was a very cool interview. I went from Super C to making my own B van setup. much easier to maintain for me. I absolutely loved my Super C but just cant keep it up like I would if I was younger and healthier. But that is an awesome name Megawatt to match the awesome setup.
Really like hearing that others are enjoying the RV life in this manner! Great looking Rig! Now I'm 6'5" and we have a 24 ft class C Thor on a Mercedes chassis and since there is only 2 of us it works great for us. I really like how he talks about the experience and it was positive! Great information really enjoyed this video! Thanks for sharing! Safe travels!
Awesome video. I would sure like that rig for doing dog shows! But I'm with Izzy, the maintenance cost of a DP is beyond my gasser budget. We are going on seven years of RV'ing at dog shows and it has been a blast. We're gone about half the weekends per year. Sure things break from time to time. But if it ain't breaking you ain't using it! Keep up the great work.
What a wonderful interview! Thank you, James, for being thorough and insightful in your responses, and thank you Izzy and MJ for making this all possible. I was wondering what was the brand, model, and floorplan of Class C that James owned.
V-Ride is the rear suspension. Don't think they have the space upfront for it unless it is a modified version of V-ride. I could be wrong, trying to do all my research to understand what I want in an rv.
The front is ZF Independent Front Suspension, short for “Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen”. To note, I did switch to Koni Shocks, added Supersteer Motion Control Units and added a Roadmaster rear sway bar. It’s been amazing.
Great info @MegawattRV. That is a bunch of solar. The only people I know that have done that much is RV America Y'all. Are you a member of AIM, The all inclusive motorhome club? We don't live that far from you in Fort Worth. Have you joined any of the local clubs?
Hello! I’ve joined the Discovery Owner’s Association and the Fleetwood Association but always looking to network, tell me more! Love RV America Y’all, I think they’re right at 2,500 watts.
Hi guys I heard about a number of states that is about to make Newmar shutdown operations due to emissions and there are 6 states right now as of 1 Jan 2025 and other states comeing on line in 2027 please check I am it there is a video about this
IMO if rv manufacturers slowed down production just a little and actually focused on quality control, there may not be a need to make so many "adjustments " during the beginning stages of ownership. Rv manufacturers are so hung up on the bottom dollar that more often than not quality gets thrown out the leaky window.
Are you worried about the change in the law when it comes to California bad other states that say there fixing to Stop Rv like your to come into there state???

My question would be with all those solar panels on the roof how can he care for the roof??
The design was very intentional, the panels can be easily removed for maintenance or access to the AC units. Great question.
