I bought our current RV from a family member's estate. It was also nearly new, but with some "storage" issues (mice, bad battery) but no water damage. The original buyer passed away, his wife didn't use it, and she passed about a year later. I bought it from their daughters as-is, and got to work on mouse eradication, a deep clean, and some very minor repairs. It's turned out to be an excellent value.
Some thrift stores have gotten incredibly picky about what they will accept. But when I was back in college, I know many of use were VERY happy ti find things like furniture that they wouldn't even touch these days.
12 years ago i bought a Class B camper Van at an estate sale. I was driving by & saw the signs for the sale. It was later afternoon & most stuff was gone except for the camper Van. I was asked to put a bid in writing & attach a cheque with my bid to cover my bid amount. The next day the executor call me & said I'd won the bid for the Van. My bid was really low, about 25% of what it was worth, but i was the only person that bid on the Van sooo ......
I am glad you mentioned Teen Challenge, and that of Sanford too. I would like to hear sometime your story of Teen Challenge. I myself am a former Teen Challenge student, did my 4-month Induction in Tarpon Springs FL in 99, then 8-month Training in Sanford, completed the program in 2000, then worked on staff in Teen Challenge Barbados, that the Sandford center was part of starting. I worked on staff for 1 1/2 years from 2000 - 2002 before meeting my wife and working with Youth With a Mission Barbados for 3 1/2 years (living in Barbados as a missionary for 5 years).
I hope that it works out for you. However if it does not, why not get a travel trailer to pull behind your expedition? Much cheaper than a self propelled RV and more flexible layouts within your price range.
There is so much difference between a travel trailer and a motorhome. The vacation starts when you leave the driveway in a motorhome. If you travel in one, you will experience the difference.
Also, Charities of all types receive donations from cars to boats to horses to property to you name it, it’s always good to check charities. I happen to be Founder of Safe harbor Boys Home and Maritime Academy so I know this for certain. Most charities sell items “as is where is” and many have auctions too. I think your estate sale idea is awesome.
Teen Challenge is amazing. I’ve lost two friends to drug overdoses and please pray for my nephew, he’s struggling with drugs and has two small children. It’s killing his parents.
I like to ride recumbent bikes and trikes, and about 90% of the used ones for sale are in Florida. Mostly because older people tend to buy them and then they get too old to ride, or their surviving spouse, or children sell them. It makes sense that RV’s would fall into the same category. I’m trying whittle down my pile of things people wouldn’t want to inherit, except the bikes which I think I need more of. I did donate a motorcycle to my local public radio station which is fairly easy, but it’s hard to donate enough stuff to get over the standard deduction these days, so didn’t get any tax benefits. I don’t like selling things, so donations at least get things out of my house without sending them to landfill
Even the small boat industry has figured out how to stop roof (deck) leaks. It almost makes me think the RV industry WANTS roof leaks, sk the used RVs are trashed out of the market and folks are forced into new ones. The few builders using fiberglass tops, or other decks, with minimal penetrations and proper seals prove this CAN be done better. The water damage on that rig was a crying shame. Tens of thousands of dollars, down the drain.
You have such good information. We just drove to Orange park and bought a 2016 thor four winds 31L . It was a consignment. I hope we didn't miss anything and didn't pay to much. We head out tomorrow on our first adventure. Although we are horse campers we will take tru k and horse trailer separately since we will be out for almost a week and will need to make hay runs.
Our thor has almost the same lay out as the red rv. We just have kitchen on the passenger and soda and dinette on the drivers and the same shower and bathroom as the red rv.
Unfortunately in Ventura County California the estate sales are completely ridiculous. The prices are just way to high, plus the people running the sales are like TSA agents, they literally will not allow purses or backpacks and they also wand you with a metal detector on your way in and out? So now I just do not attend estate sales anylonger. Hopefully its alot better in Florida?
Teen Challenge main farm is close to my home an incredible organization. We have hosted their choirs for many years. Good Canadian founded organization!
You should come to Crystal River, Fl and look at my class C. It’s a 2013 Majestic 28A, which is a Cruise America RV. No Slides and it’s 28ft which I know is a little longer than your looking for. Ours had a little overhead bunk leak that has been addressed as far a the leak. Nothing bad at all though. The rest of the couch it in excellent condition. Wife wants to try a pull behind because she doesn’t like the big over hang of the cab over. Message me if you’re interested.
Hard pass on a wster damaged camper. It may look minimal, you just don't know until you open up that section to fix. Plus, the roof! Not a big loss if somebody else gets it.
That service is pretty awful. Makes sure no one can actually ever get a site all while the campsites stay half empty. THIS stuff is why everyone is quitting RVing and not watching the TH-camrs. We are fed up with this garbage and can’t even camp in the parks OUR taxes pay for. Ugh.
I totally understand your frustration; it can be incredibly disheartening to feel like you're missing out on camping opportunities, especially in parks funded by our taxes. I hear you! The thing about using a software service to snag campground cancellations is that it helps people make the most of sites that might otherwise go unused. Campgrounds often have last-minute cancellations, and these tools help connect campers with those open spots in real time. Without them, those sites might remain empty, which isn't ideal for anyone. It’s not about taking away opportunities but rather about making camping more accessible to those who are actively looking. I get that it feels like a competitive process, and the demand for camping has grown so much in recent years. But tools like this can actually help balance things out, ensuring that fewer sites sit empty while campers who are ready to go can find a spot. I hope this perspective helps, and I’m rooting for you to get an awesome site for your next trip!
My brother and sister in law have a RV on a parked lot in Florida. It’s a Tiffin but it’s been parked for at least 5 years. It’s gotta be a disaster by now.
It’s a coachman?? Run!!! That’s all particle board! It’s made poorly. Looks can be deceiving!! I own one. I belong to a coachman group and everyone complains about the poor workmanship!
Good video 😊 just saying about 10 of you tube channel's are or have purchased a class c to go to Alaska or where ever some have since sold them keep there class A when you look at a used class c it's used there's going to be problems expect to put money in it🤫
We are still considering it - but for now they do not have what we want for a price we want to pay. We are keeping an eye on their inventory as it comes in.
I have that same yard cart. Love it. Wish it had a brake. I've chased it down a hill many times. Also wish the handle stayed where I put it instead of having to bend to the ground every time I want to pick it up.
We had Rvroof.com put a spray on roof for our class A - it’s a lifetime maintenance free roof. We would want the same on our next Rv. Thanks for watching
You are starting to look like KYD a few years back. then their youngest was about your sons age and he would stand behind them and be a mime. I always feel that is annoying and normally shut down the video. I did mention this to KYD and his wife reminded me he was a kid. At the time I was retired and drove a school bus and now sub, teach at school. It must be working as I did not turn off the video. Good luck on your search.
Just what everyone needs, 2 RV'S. What is with TH-camrs ? Start getting some success. Start spending lots of money. Just like the greatest grifter alive Nomadic Fanatic. And he is loosing subscribers and patrons. Nobody wants to see someone blowing money like it's nothing. Especially in this economy. How tone deff can you be.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I can totally see how it might come across that way, so I’d love to clarify our situation. Our first RV is actually 20 years old, and we paid cash for it. It’s been a great home-on-wheels for us, but as we’ve learned more about what works best for our travel style, we’ve decided to look for a smaller, used RV that’s a better fit. We’re sticking to a modest budget-$25k or less-and focusing on finding something that aligns with our needs without breaking the bank. We know how challenging the economy is right now and want to show that RVing can still be done responsibly and affordably. Our goal is to inspire others who might be curious about the RV lifestyle, not to flaunt anything. It’s about enjoying the journey and making memories, not about spending big. We really appreciate the feedback and hope this clears up any misconceptions. Thanks for watching and engaging with us!

Your son stole the show. LOL! I forgot what you were saying… 🤣
He does have a way of doing that! 😂

I have a 2019 Expedition Max. It is not an ideal vehicle to tow a trailer over about 25’. Tows great behind out DP however.

Donating vs. selling is a great idea. Thanks for watching.

Why are estate sale prices always so high compared to garage sales prices. Isn't the idea to get rid of stuff....crazy😅
I think one is supposed to negotiate for a lower price.
Around here, companies are hired to do the sale. They get a commission.
Same here in Michigan
You guys were just in our neck of the woods! Thanks for the info!
Thanks for watching!
Overall it would scare me with the roof and the condition of the walls. I would walk, it’s bigger than you want anyway.😢
I agree!
Tires always have to be replaced if over five years or could have flat spots on them from sitting! Those cracks on the roof would have water damage
Great call out! Those are important things to watch for.

Whatever you get have it inspected!
Yes, an RV Inspection is always the best idea.
Good luck. I hope it worked out for you all.
Buying anything from that area after a major weather event seems risky. Try looking in the southwest.
Thanks for the tip!
Good luck! I hope u got it!
We will let you know!

I love the Spring! Yes do a video!
👍

Yes on seeing the springs
Good to know - thanks for the comment and for watching!

Need to book sites a year in advance (depending on requirements by agencies). We do this and have no issues.
Don’t haul a 50 gallon barrel of water in that trailer. It won’t go well, from personal experience 😅
🤪
My brother and sister in law have a RV on a parked lot in Florida. It’s a Tiffin but it’s been parked for at least 5 years. It’s gotta be a disaster by now.
Great information I would have never thought
I'm glad you found it helpful!
Hello, kind regards, please can you help me by recommending a GPS for RV that can be used for many outdoor activities?
What’s with the Mime in the back?! 😂
It’s a coachman?? Run!!! That’s all particle board! It’s made poorly. Looks can be deceiving!! I own one. I belong to a coachman group and everyone complains about the poor workmanship!
Fun....Good Luck!
When my wife and I set up household this is what we did. We had a lot of $7 furniture.

Florida highlight camping
So I guess the used rental RV shopping did not pan out?
We are still considering it - but for now they do not have what we want for a price we want to pay. We are keeping an eye on their inventory as it comes in.
Hard to pass on cheap tools.
Yes it is!
When is the 50% discount? Link only showed 10% discount. Thanks

Your son is so funny
He's a character, that is for sure! Thanks for watching!
RV=all the problems of home ownership plus all the problems of vehicle ownership, multiplied by a factor of 10!
I wouldn’t buy it. Water damage and the roof is horrible. Also it’s 5 feet longer than you wanted. Pass
Thanks for watching and for the comment! We will keep you posted!
Just reseal the roof yourself, it would cost you maybe 3 or 4 hundred dollars.
We had Rvroof.com put a spray on roof for our class A - it’s a lifetime maintenance free roof. We would want the same on our next Rv. Thanks for watching

@GratefulGlamper very diplomatic reply to a rude post. 👍
@GratefulGlamper if you have the money and want to use it, go for it. Envy is such a waste of time.
