Good interview. My name is Tony a Malaysian Sinhalese. Please allow me to give my comments/opinions on this interview. First & foremost I salute this person Mr Shanakiyan for not being selfish like many others, by returning to Sri Lanka to give his contribution & serve the country. I notice that he is independent in most of his comments with regards to what is happening in Sri Lanka. I just hope that the Sinhalese politicians will take his points positively especially to young people like this. You can not isolate certain races & develop a country. At the same time, the minorities must give respect to national policies & the constitution. But one thing I would suggest is, Sri Lanka must have a policy that, all races must speak & write the national language, Sinhalese. For your info, All races in Malaysia must know Bahasa Malaysia & if you fail in you S.P.M. (equivalent to G.C.E. O/L) exam, you fail the whole exam. Sri Lanka has NO national policies of giving preferences to any particular race like Malaysia where the Malay race is given a lot of preferences & practiced publicly. Once again, the Sinhalese leaders must put the race aside & look at suggestions, ideas etc. in whole & work to develop the country. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country & a big island isolated one from other countries & blessed with many natural resources. Why not get to gather with the opposition & develop the country where all will benefit. May God Bless Sri Lanka.

One State standard should be fine for the next 1000 years. But Governing power should be given to Tamil and other minority. Dividing state can not agree. But the ruling power should be given. Other than that there is no best answer. One state, but the governing power of north and east should be given to people in that area. How many years now? It was the need of the country for the majority community to have more representation in employment opportunities etc thus the sinhala only bill etc. And all subsequent blood baths JVP two times and LTTE once. The innocents very many well qualified left the country and even if they want to come back they will have to be a different class of a citizen or renounce the citizenship of the countries which pay their pensions and where their grand children are. So we continue to see Srilankans even heading Vaccine research for Covid 19 and Srilanka queing to buy that vaccine as the Srilankan government cannot call her a Srilankan.
Shanakiyan I am typing this as I listen to you.. first of all I watched your speech as was very impressed and agree with that speech.. But I don't agree with you that we are different people... I went to a mixed school.. we had kids of all religions... We all got tother perfectly.. I still over 20 year after leaving school am close with my friends of different religions... The issue what divided us is not religion or life styles and culture.. you go to Hambanthota and live a month with those less fortunate people and you will see that their problems are the same problems as those less fortunate people in Batti or Jafna.. it's the language barrier which is the problem. And the politicians on both sides of the fence does their very best to keep that barrier in place so those in the south and north can't communicate and see that they all have the same issue.. and that there is more common things uniting them rather than differences dividing them.. hell my sibling and me have differences.. doesn't mean we stand divided... Politician need to keep us divided for and pointing fingers at each other so we don't see the shortfalls of our politicians and start pointing fingers at them... That's true with the Sinhala parties as well as the Tamil parties and the Muslim parties too... Now if your talking of the cast system in both Tamil and Sinhala sides then I say cast system shouldn't be there in any culture... And everyone must work to get rid of it... To the lady doing the interview.. if women are 52% of the country and women are not voted in even when they contest.. taking your stance then the issue is not with men.. it's sounds like an issue of women not backing women.. yes we need women in governace but just because we need them doesn't mean we need to blindly vote for women.. then we get people like Geetha in parliament or earlier Prabha who had no idea about politics but got more votes than major politician.. Each parliamentarian is representing a group of people. Specially the minority leaders. When there are 180 to 190 majority sinhalese leaders in the parliament. Why should a minority leader speak about other communities. It is true that in the past the minority leaders spoke very well. But nothing happened. It is like playing the vena infront of deaf people. Name of the party matters. I never seen TNA speaks about issues faced by Sinhalese people. I tough he is doing decent politics and it seems he is another old fashion man with new approach. Sri Lanka regressed because of the Socialist policies which turned SL into a welfare state. Tamils who faced mob attacks did migrate. But majority of the migrants fled from war and LTTE. Also during JVP days many fled the country including Tamils.

My name is Tony a Malaysian Sinhalese. Please allow me to give my comments/opinions on this interview.
First & foremost I salute this person Mr Shanakiyan for not being selfish like many others, by returning to Sri Lanka to give his contribution & serve the country. I notice that he is independent in most of his comments with regards to what is happening in Sri Lanka. I just hope that the Sinhalese politicians will take his points positively especially to young people like this. You can not isolate certain races & develop a country. At the same time, the minorities must give respect to national policies & the constitution. But one thing I would suggest is, Sri Lanka must have a policy that, all races must speak & write the national language, Sinhalese. For your info, All races in Malaysia must know Bahasa Malaysia & if you fail in you S.P.M. (equivalent to G.C.E. O/L) exam, you fail the whole exam. Sri Lanka has NO national policies of giving preferences to any particular race like Malaysia where the Malay race is given a lot of preferences & practiced publicly. Once again, the Sinhalese leaders must put the race aside & look at suggestions, ideas etc. in whole & work to develop the country. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country & a big island isolated one from other countries & blessed with many natural resources. Why not get to gather with the opposition & develop the country where all will benefit. May God Bless Sri Lanka.

One State standard should be fine for the next 1000 years. But Governing power should be given to Tamil and other minority. Dividing state can not agree. But the ruling power should be given. Other than that there is no best answer.
One state, but the governing power of north and east should be given to people in that area. How many years now? Their lifestyle standard could not be taken to the next level.

It was the need of the country for the majority community to have more representation in employment opportunities etc thus the sinhala only bill etc. And all subsequent blood baths JVP two times and LTTE once. The innocents very many well qualified left the country and even if they want to come back they will have to be a different class of a citizen or renounce the citizenship of the countries which pay their pensions and where their grand children are. So we continue to see Srilankans even heading Vaccine research for Covid 19 and Srilanka queing to buy that vaccine as the Srilankan government cannot call her a Srilankan.
Shanakiyan I am typing this as I listen to you.. first of all I watched your speech as was very impressed and agree with that speech..
But I don't agree with you that we are different people... I went to a mixed school.. we had kids of all religions... We all got tother perfectly.. I still over 20 year after leaving school am close with my friends of different religions... The issue what divided us is not religion or life styles and culture.. you go to Hambanthota and live a month with those less fortunate people and you will see that their problems are the same problems as those less fortunate people in Batti or Jafna.. it's the language barrier which is the problem. And the politicians on both sides of the fence does their very best to keep that barrier in place so those in the south and north can't communicate and see that they all have the same issue.. and that there is more common things uniting them rather than differences dividing them.. hell my sibling and me have differences.. doesn't mean we stand divided... Politician need to keep us divided for and pointing fingers at each other so we don't see the shortfalls of our politicians and start pointing fingers at them... That's true with the Sinhala parties as well as the Tamil parties and the Muslim parties too...
Now if your talking of the cast system in both Tamil and Sinhala sides then I say cast system shouldn't be there in any culture... And everyone must work to get rid of it...
To the lady doing the interview.. if women are 52% of the country and women are not voted in even when they contest.. taking your stance then the issue is not with men.. it's sounds like an issue of women not backing women.. yes we need women in governace but just because we need them doesn't mean we need to blindly vote for women.. then we get people like Geetha in parliament or earlier Prabha who had no idea about politics but got more votes than major politician..

Tamil Diaspora in western countries poured funds for LTTE terrorists. They still fighting to divide the country.
Please ask LTTE diaspora to send all the funds they have collected to fund LTTE for the development of North and East. Sri Lankan was ruined by 30 yrs of terrorism. Even Sinhala youths got arms to fight. All countries talk about Tamil people. What about JVP lost lives fighting for poor people.
We all have to move forward and look to help all our nation. Some people encroach Sri Lanka archeological sites during the wars with Portuguese, Dutch, British and LTTE.
All communities grew. We need appatments like Singapore. We all have to help each other. There are some good politicians. Each parliamentarian is representing a group of people. Specially the minority leaders. When there are 180 to 190 majority sinhalese leaders in the parliament. Why should a minority leader speak about other communities. It is true that in the past the minority leaders spoke very well. But nothing happened. It is like playing the vena infront of deaf people. The racial minds you can see in every politicians
Name of the party matters. I never seen TNA speaks about issues faced by Sinhalese people. I tough he is doing decent politics and it seems he is another old fashion man with new approach. There should not be political parties who represent one race of people. Does not matter whether Sinhalese, Tamils or Muslims

Sri Lanka regressed because of the Socialist policies which turned SL into a welfare state. Tamils who faced mob attacks did migrate. But majority of the migrants fled from war and LTTE. Also during JVP days many fled the country including Tamils.
