    WRONG.. The Dream Team had a long scrimmage against the Select Team, THEN went on to play like 8 games in the Tournament of the Americas's. Then played that game against France. That team was together for close to a month before the Olympics.

    The question is: Can a good international team that works really well together with an elite player or two beat a squad of elite U.S. players who haven't developed as a team?
    Not sure it's an easy answer. The international leagues have become really good, with a play style totally different from the NBA. If team USA has any sort of ego issues (which it might) they could easily lose a few games. They need to tighten up, take the games seriously and work together.
    I personally think the different squads are weird. It's sort of bowing to big egos. Pick the starters based on skills, bench the rest and let the starters gel by playing whole games together.

    Ant doesn't pass the ball enough, Curry had an off shooting night as his FG's were all 3 point attempts, Joel Embidd might look good here but he was not getting the boards that often like AD. But honestly i think the main issue was U.S.A underestimated Australia and let their foot of the gas in the final quarter which gave a chance to Australia which they took with both hands.
    Lesson: Don't take any game lightly, most teams have NBA players as well.

    I feel like you're showing your NBA tunnel vision here - You don't watch international basketball prior to now and its sort of showing here.
    You're using NBA players (with NBA rules) as your metric to determine which team is good - Australia is ranked 5th in the world and is successful nearly every international tournament. Yes they don't have the firepower and stardom that USA or Canada (as of recently) has. But them like many Top 10 international teams (Argentina, Lithuania etc) who lack "NBA" talent are much more well versed in playing together internationally under FIBA rules not just throwing together a all star squad for firepower. Players are completely different for a national team - different roles, minutes etc take Patty Mills perfect example. There is nothing surprising about an all star USA team marginally beating the 5th ranked team in the world..

      100% I have NBA tunnel vision! I am an NBA creator covering these Olympics from that perspective. But I’m also not pretending I know the EuroLeague guys or others as well. As I learn more about them I’ll absolutely do my part to platform these guys.

    They took their foot off the gas, clearly. But all of the teams have good players on the NBA level, or close to it. They can't do this as a habit, or they'll get surprised. Landale dominating like he did was alarming. Embiid looked like he was asleep out there. Davis should start.

    • @hardwood_yt
      @hardwood_yt  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@donaldpriola1807 I know you aren’t saying it here, but when others use “taking their foot off the gas” as an excuse, it’s frustrating because they should want to dominate.
      It’s been 12 years since we’ve assembled a full strength squad (minus Kawhi)
      I want to see them have a killer instinct in every single game. Including these exhibitions.

      @donaldpriola1807 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hardwood_yt Agreed. I think these guys can get complacent, and just get bored. The other teams won't stand for it, and they could pay for that. I think the U.S. should dominate for the entire course of the game, and send a message. Not sure modern players want to do that, though.

    Watching the game, I'm confused why Kerr started the second unit during the second half. I'm also not sure why he didn't call timeouts during both the runs in the third and fourth. Coach let them keep messing up and almost looked purposeful. It messes up the rhythm and definitely saw it with all the turnovers. It was like the coach was trying to put them in the worst possible scenario and still didn't call time out.

    1. no real PG (Steph is not PG)
    2. LeBum on PG is as useless as in Lakers just because he's ball hog, he does not create shooting positions, because he does not move UNTIL it seems like an easy buldozer bucket for him
    3. last FIBA World Championship showed the need of big centers in the paint fighting for rebounds. How many CENTERS this team has? Only AD doing his job, as usual. Embiid is useless for this, he cares only about his buckets and is injury prone. And does not matter how tall KD is, he is not center.
    4. So far Ant and AD are caring, JRue is great defender, but not point maker, and Tatum is just average Tatum, .... who else is there doing anything?
    5. changes needed: Jaylen Brown for Kawhi, one more big center doing his job and one true PG instead of LeBum
