I'll always respect and remain thankful to Feige for everything he's done. He took what I once thought would have been impossible to pull off and has made a cinematic universe full of amazing Marvel characters I've loved all my life and given us something truly unique and special that's beloved the world over. This man is to Marvel movies now what Stan Lee was to Marvel comics in the 1960s. Feige's legacy will be legendary for many years to come.
If there's anything that kind of proves Perlmutter had the wrong ideas it's that he said no to movies like Black Panther and Captain Marvel (which, say what you will, they each made over a billion at the box office) and yet his passion project is so reviled that people completely forget it existed. We talk about the Marvel TV shows, Daredevil Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist but forget the absolutely horrendous inHumans. It's telling that this one is usually completely forgotten.
kevin Feige has created something never seen in history . An expansive cinematic & tv universe , No other company creates movies that create the hype of speculation , theorizing , or anticipation than the MCU dose , I'm STOKED , MCU is king 👑 .
He should at least be given some kind of honorary Academy Award in recognition of his work. Producers usually get the award for best picture, and maybe no MCU movie has earned that yet (even though Infinity War should’ve, IMHO), they should at least recognise his work in the larger sense. The MCU is not like other franchises either, since it’s more like a TV series that a movie series. Most film series gets like a comprehensive trilogy, but most series a bunch of unconnected stand alone movies (like the James Bond series) where you can watch one and don’t care about the prequels or sequels (the Daniel Craig movies have been more comprehensive though), but the MCU is a bunch of stand alone films that are connected. It is very unique it that way.
The funny thing to me is that the early MCU owes its success FAR MORE to the way it showed love to the fans and the solid string of origin films they put out than to the promise of a cinematic universe. Think about X-Men and Spider-Man, and how many changes were made to the characters. Die hard Marvel fans liked those films... but they were just "okay". They felt like corporate products from someone who didn't really get it. And DC was still eating Marvel's lunch. The Dark Knight came out in 2008, folks! The same year as Iron man! Then along comes this fledgling Marvel Studios, and suddenly it feels different. The origins of Iron Man and Captain America are almost direct adaptations of the source material, with a few adjustments only where modernization was needed. Iron Man's first comic book costume was the huge steel clunker you see early in the film. His second was the silver one. His third, the red and gold. Captain America in the comics starts out scrawny but brave, and looks damn near identical to the magic they pulled off in the film. We knew who Bucky was and what was important about him. We knew (or rather, thought we knew) that the blue cube sought by Hydra was the Cosmic Cube, and we knew the references to Norse mythology were hints about Thor. Fans like myself who understood the references could FEEL the voice of the comics in the movie. There was a scrappy indie film feeling to Marvel Studios when Iron Man came out. The little hints and Easter eggs coyly sprinkled throughout the films were like a love letter to Marvel Comics fans saying thank you for supporting our efforts, and the fans were happy to share their love back. But to the credit of Feige and the directors, these films were still constructed to stand on their own, without demanding the audience had to be in on the "secret" knowledge. You could be a casual comic movie fan and still enjoy them. It's easy to look back now and say that Marvel was laying the groundwork for a cinematic universe, but the fact of the matter is that they were playing things very coy during the early days. The whole thing could have easily come crashing down. Think about Netflix's Defenders and how Iron Fist completely undercut its potential. That was the understood risk during the MCU's early days. Sure, the Nick Fury cameo sent fans into a tizzy over the insane possibility that Marvel could be planning a team-up movie, but nobody was entirely sure how seriously to take it until Captain America and Thor were announced, and nobody thought it could be pulled off successfully until The Avengers completely shattered expectations. It really was damn near a string of miracles that made the MCU happen.
He was widely liked by some higher ups at Disney and made them money. But once you become a problem for somebody they like more/makes them more money than you, you’ll get the boot.
Huge assist to Bob Igor for taking Feige’s side and empowering him. Low-key one of the best CEO’s ever. Contrast today, where Chapek has been on the job for barely a year and he’s already having talent-relation issues with ScarJo and Simu Liu.
Great video! Kevin Feige is definitely a huge part of the MCU's success and no one can take that from him. I also totally agree with you about Cyclops. As a huge fan of Cyclops in the comics, I was exceedingly disappointed with how Singer handled the character in Fox's X-Men. This is why I look forward to Feige's take on the X-Men. Even if they downplay Cyclops' role, I'm confident that they'd still be able to do him justice.
I really love how Feige build up this whole universe which is collecting billions in box-office right now. Just imagine if Iron Man didn't make the right impression what the film industry would be like now...
He's no Steven Spielberg. Because unlike Steven, Kevin leans more to spectacle over substance. With the exception of movies like Ready Player One, The Lost World and every Indiana Jones film, Spielberg maintains the moral fact that substance comes first and that the spectacle is only part of what makes his movies good. In my opinion, the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs immense improvement. With the exception of Guardians of The Galaxy 1 and 2, movies like Spider-Man: Far From Home are seriously lacking in proper use of tension and complex introspection. I think that Kevin Feige should hire directors that specialize in this kind of complexity, and just leave them alone because he fucks up everything and give them more creative control over their movies and see if they can bring anything new to the table. Taika Waititi for example was able to bring his sentimental humour into Thor: Ragnarok, and managed to get away with some pretty good jokes. Otherwise, the best thing to do is have the CGI action be filler and have the creative vision and character development come first. Tension is also an issue. For example; in the final battle in Endgame, we see the heroes fighting, and it all looks good until Tom Holland's Spider-Man starts heckling Tony.
There's a Kevin Feige action figure... 😂 Also I'd be very interested if he took over Star Wars like the rumors are saying _Also_ also just to warn y'all someone is copy pasting the same reply in a bunch of comments lol
Captain please make a similar video on Sarah Finn - the casting director of the MCU please! Would really like to know how she's so good at what she does.
@Greg Elchert welp, as of now WandaVision and Falcon and Winter Soldier were massive hits and the Black Widow hype is super legit. The future looks bright.
I'd argue that although he didn't technically "create the characters", him and his team sculpted these versions of the characters out of the various versions of the past and even mixed in some new stuff. Based on most revamps in the comics and universes like the ultimate universe... as well as even comparing it to other marvel film adaptations like fan4stic... I'd argue that it takes alot of skilled people to do something on the scale that the MCU is with as high of a batting average as they have.
Great video! And I agree on what you said about Feige! He's a smart man who believes in the property! Funny thing is I am actually writing a informative speech on Kevin Feige in my College Speech class, so this video coming out was like perfect timing lol. But yeah, as always, excellent video and it demonstrates why I love Kevin Feige!
I got nuthin but respect for how Feige ascended to becoming one of the most bankable producers in Hollywood. His dedication to the source material is admirable. Before the MCU changed the Hollywood landscape the paradigm for adapting properties to film was "fuck the source material, make it barely recognizable to its original fans to draw in new fans" that certainly applied to the Brian Singer X-men movies and the bayformers movies. Those two directors in particular had no reverence for the source material that it borders on contempt. Since then however we've had the Travis Knight directed bumblebee movie and the recent sonic movie that have shown an appreciation for the source material and by extension the fans and have gotten the financial rewards to prove they made the right choice
This is why I don't put too much stuck in any one person on the production of a film. The director(s) and the producer(s) are equally important for different reasons, and neither one should be underestimated.
This guy saved the MCU from that jackass Ike Perlmutter. He's got my full support and I hope his star wars flick is gonna be a great one. Well if he makes one of course
@@craig2353 Ehh pretty dumb considering Hulk box office fiasco. However, I think it depends. Remember Marvel doesn't have a Wonder Woman or Harley Quinn, so their "women" aren't quite as popular as them.
Thank god for this man. Fiege is like the old Mogul. He can make the stars...he has. I hope he uses less mega stars and keeps taking chances like when he cast RDJ with their excellent casting Lady.
Even if I agree with his creative approach to some of these films, I can respect how cool it is that he's done the work he has done so far. Kudos to Feige for making his own way in the industry.
Feige is more like Spielberg in the 80's. he's more than just a producer...filmmaker...he's a NAME. and that anything associated with that name are mostly GOLD. Outside those he directed himself, Spielberg's name's also associated and lent success to movies like Poltergeist, Back to the Future, An American Tail, Who Framed Roger Rabbit & Gremlins. Feige, while has the MARVEL brand behind him...people pretty much have abled to single him out as THE architect of the MCU, the BIGGEST movie franchise of today.
Bryan Singer thinking that Chris Claremont's masterful character stydies were too shallow for his movie, then making a movie that steals Claremont's storylines just making them less nuanced is hilarious.
I do understand where Singer was coming from in that regard - I think a balance needs to be struck between taking inspiration from the comic characters and letting creatives recreate them in a simpler way that works for the one film story they’re telling and the audience they’re speaking to. Wolverine is one thing - a character who is already pretty good on the page - but what about something like Loki, a character who was very generic in the comics and basically a flat, cackling villain? I think hiring Branagh, who understood the Shakespearean elements the comics aspired to but never achieved, showed an attempt to still achieve what the comics were going for but might have missed. Branagh has directed and played in Shakespearean films for forever, and his idea to combine Edmund (King Lear), the original Loki (Norse Myth) and actually looking into what the emotional stakes would be for late-discovery adoptée successfully made a new character that invokes the comics but is something new for film and that connected to audiences much more than the comic book character ever did. You can say the same was done for Iron Man, Thor and various other characters - they had to find their own identity outside of the comic book writing but still kept some of the basic ideas.
Got to gives César what César deserved, Kevin Fiege is the GOD of MCU, and he totally honour the nickname Stan Lee give him, as FuriousFeige, And when they asked why FuriousFeige, Stan Lee answer, he’s a real fan of Marvel, and as soon as he’s talking about Marvel he get excited and get crazy so finally, he’s kinda furious, so I thought it would fit him like a glove, N’UFF SAID. EXCELSIOR 😍😍😍
10:27 Talking about that, I just noticed that Happy (or actually Pepper) offered a cheque for the Parker family which would at least explain why going on a trip and money in general isn't that big of a deal for this Peter
I don't know much about Feige as a person, but he really seems like a Big Fucking Nerd. Which is great when you're producing a Cinematic universe about comics. I really respect him as a person.
Kevin Feige is to blockbusters what Eiichiro Oda is to Shonen manga: he’s a total workaholic that seems to have no physical (or rather emotional) limits, and it’s taken him to the top of the food chain.
I really love the MCU and Feige's contributions to it. It really saddens me when my friends say they're beginning to hate Marvel movies now for one reason or another. But I'm always excited to see what Earth-199999 has in every new chapter. Thank you Marvel and Kevin for bringing to much joy to my life, thank you
kelsey blackaby Right? He has a beautiful stream of thoughts and he makes these videos right on time when they’re the most relevant, meaning it propably doesn’t take him long to make them. That’s very admirable.
Overall I agree with your take on Feige but I disagree with the idea that Spiderman should focus on the financial struggles of Peter Parker. Rami did that and its probably the least interesting aspect of those movies and even he seemed to recognize that. It was a very big part of the early comics which I loved, but I think Feige and Marvel have wisely decided that this version of Spiderman in the MCU is Tony's protege and therefore really should have different challenges.

The fucking clips of audience reactions, like when Cap picked up Thor's Hammer in End Game... The audience were fucking SCREAMING. All these old fart directors getting butt-hurt because Marvel movies are eclipsing their sales... And it's like "Mate... No room of people have EVER watched your gangster movies and fucking went ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BANANAS, screaming with excitement and joy at something that happened in your film". Get fucked, old man.
Yeah I'm amazed at how much I like Thor now, considering how little I cared about him when the universe first kicked off
thx for making this video... this is very informative
c Si such good videos!
Captain Midnight is indeed AMAZING! Clearly captain of time and space itself.
Yes! This was the exact video I was looking for! Thank you Cap! 🙏🏾
this video was great. i would pay to see you make videos like this on directors, even ones of non-superhero movies possibly.
If you want to profile a filmmaker, I suggest Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Holy crap, absolutely. Those guys are the kings of making masterpieces out of horrible ideas.
Kevin Fiege Is Awesome
Agreed if he left the MCU it would be dead and start to crumble
Thanks
@@I-speak-U-shut-it your Welcome.
This man is nuts. Imagine producing 20 movies, in 10 years. 2 movies, every fucking year. And have them interconnect.
kevin Feige has created something never seen in history .
Feige probably is a producer super mutant with a large brain he hides under his cap. I swear there's something under that cap!
no not really
How Perlmutter manage to go unphotoed for so long?
Those who fear an appending surveillance state need to know
He was widely liked by some higher ups at Disney and made them money. But once you become a problem for somebody they like more/makes them more money than you, you’ll get the boot.
From what I’ve heard about the guy from the past couple , he’s a Harvey Weinstein-level liability who is quickly losing his protection.
Well done, Captain!
Huge assist to Bob Igor for taking Feige’s side and empowering him. Low-key one of the best CEO’s ever. Contrast today, where Chapek has been on the job for barely a year and he’s already having talent-relation issues with ScarJo and Simu Liu.
The man deserves his own action figure.
He does have
Great video!
Just watch Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon.
I wonder if we’ll get a crazy career video about Captain Midnight? :)
Neil I hope so!
Iron Man is the definition of a classic. That film had impact upon initial release and its impact and legacy continues to grow each other
@ Hey, the monster verse isnt the mess of early DCEU and "Dark Universe"
@ DC already have a successful shared universe :.
DC animated universe.
@ While the monster verse sure as hell aint overall a "good series", it doesnt feel like those rushed others... and I respect that.
love your stuff bro, keep up the good work!!!
There's a Kevin Feige action figure... 😂
Also I'd be very interested if he took over Star Wars like the rumors are saying
_Also_ also just to warn y'all someone is copy pasting the same reply in a bunch of comments lol
Captain please make a similar video on Sarah Finn - the casting director of the MCU please! Would really like to know how she's so good at what she does.
Yes!
Kevin Feige truly created a cinematic universe that'll withstand the test of time.
iron man is quite old now....
@Greg Elchert Is going to lose hype for the next 2 years but it will gain again during 2023
@Greg Elchert welp, as of now WandaVision and Falcon and Winter Soldier were massive hits and the Black Widow hype is super legit.
As a mcu fan I enjoyed this video!
These are far and away your best type of videos. Keep em coming
Kevin Feige is a legend and I’m tired of people disrespecting him every time they don’t get exactly what they want.
Great job on this!
Kevin Feige is amazing and so underappreciated.
I think your segue into the sponsor was the best I've ever seen
So happy mcu is where it is now. Definitely my favorite movie franchise
"I pray to Kevin Feige 5 times a day"
Okay, that was a little unnecessary
Lel
Four times a day is enough.
i agree. i only did it 3,5 times a day
Nah, I do that 23 times
Better than praying to other God 5 times a day 😂
Talk about the casting director of the MCU, she’s the unsung hero.
True True
Who is the casting director?
Katherine Alvarez Sarah Finn.
@@fulcrum6760 As long as it doesn't create a target on her back, I'd be interested in learning more about her.
@fake channel *being cast director doesnt mean she cast the main stars*
...that's what a casting director does
Kevin ate his former oppressors
Thanks to Mr. Kevin Feige, now we can able to see multiversal characters in the MCU
Great video as always. And this video would make a great companion piece to Hi Top's Iron Man video.
the fact that kevin just said "just do what's in the comics" is all we need to look at. The guy gets it, he is a fan. nuff said.
I've never seen a smoother transition to the sponsor😂
Kevin Feige is my favourite person working in movies!
This guy saved the MCU from that jackass Ike Perlmutter. He's got my full support and I hope his star wars flick is gonna be a great one. Well if he makes one of course
Ye- wait *WHAT*
Ike is the reason we're only now getting black widow.
@@ExcuseMyWeebRudeness Which is dumb.
The MCU made nobody into A lister, so why not giving a chance to Black Widow?
Wrestling Anime 4life because Black Widow is a woman and Ike didn’t think women led movies would do well.
@@craig2353 Ehh pretty dumb considering Hulk box office fiasco.
However, I think it depends.
Remember Marvel doesn't have a Wonder Woman or Harley Quinn, so their "women" aren't quite as popular as them.
I didn't even realise that he slid to sponsers at end
Thank god for this man.
Fiege is like the old Mogul.
He can make the stars...he has.
I hope he uses less mega stars and keeps taking chances like when he cast RDJ with their excellent casting Lady.
Oh My God! Sam Rami would be perfect for Dr. Strange!
Sorry it just caught my ear...continue
Even if I agree with his creative approach to some of these films, I can respect how cool it is that he's done the work he has done so far. Kudos to Feige for making his own way in the industry.
it's pretty insane how big Disney/marvel has become just because of this one decision to make a cinematic universe.
I recently read some of Claremont's work and...I had no idea how weird X-Men could be. Like they were memorably weird and frightening, it was awesome.
Feige is a genius, a revolutionary. Period.
Awesome video as always
I do hope the next phase continues to be solid and where ever they get experimental, will be good.
Nemo Windsor especially in 2000... black, sleek leather was the biggest selling component of any major action film.
Let's be honest, the world of Superheroes needs a Kevin Feige.
Everything needs a Kevin Feige.
No, the comics need a Jim Shooter.
Kevin Feige looks like Randal from the CLERKS movies.
We can sleep soundly knowing Kevin's got the MCU in a safe place.
Got to gives César what César deserved, Kevin Fiege is the GOD of MCU, and he totally honour the nickname Stan Lee give him, as FuriousFeige,
And when they asked why FuriousFeige, Stan Lee answer, he’s a real fan of Marvel, and as soon as he’s talking about Marvel he get excited and get crazy so finally, he’s kinda furious, so I thought it would fit him like a glove, N’UFF SAID. EXCELSIOR 😍😍😍
Blade was and still is one of the best comic book to film adaptations. There wouldn’t be a MCU without Wesley Snipes’ Blade.
He's definitely not Stan Lee but I feel like if he keeps making an impact in Marvel, he might get cameos in the future
Thank you Marvel and Kevin for bringing to much joy to my life, thank you
*I have spent 50h working on a video analyzing Marvel. They are truly building an unstoppable brand.*
Marvel: you're talented so you are hired
Kevin : i was in this fight since i was six
Star Wars needs a Kevin Feige type of president. Not Feige himself, but someone who understands the fans and has a plan for the films
Star Wars needs better fanbase, and Rian Johnson Trilogy
3:15 Shots fired!
I’m happy for the F-man. He deserves so much what he has. Working hard to make his movies iconic.
How do you structure your videos? How do you research? You’re so good at analysing and informing I don’t know how you do it.
Kanya Nadjem he really is a good thinker, no denying that.
kelsey blackaby Right? He has a beautiful stream of thoughts and he makes these videos right on time when they’re the most relevant, meaning it propably doesn’t take him long to make them. That’s very admirable.
awesome video always wanted to know more about feige
I know that this is quite something to say but Feige needs to make a cameo alongside Stan Lee in all Future Marvel movies
Kevin Feige deserves more credit.
6:20 was WILD SHADE.... but I feel you lol
Where is Feige getting all these custom hats from? 0:28 (Ant-Man), 0:56 (Captain Marvel), 8:27 (Black Window)
He pays a good cap company to custom make it
He doesn't buy them, they just spawn on his galaxy brain head
Hmm
He has a hats guy?
Star Wars 7-8-9 needed its own Kevin Feigi desperately
Overall I agree with your take on Feige but I disagree with the idea that Spiderman should focus on the financial struggles of Peter Parker. Rami did that and its probably the least interesting aspect of those movies and even he seemed to recognize that. It was a very big part of the early comics which I loved, but I think Feige and Marvel have wisely decided that this version of Spiderman in the MCU is Tony's protege and therefore really should have different challenges.
The ps4 Spider-Man is better that the millenial Iron Boy.
He does a good job showing what makes each character tick, unless that character is Quicksilver xD
What made quicksilver tick was wanting to bone his sister
@@WonderSilverstrand 😳
I would trust Kevin Feige with my life
