Thank you guys for doing this. Since 2014 I've strongly identified with the Cox family, having lost my Daughter and two grandkids when my daughters husband, Josh Boren, murdered them, along with my ex wife in Spanish Fork Utah. It's unbelievable what the family goes through in a situation like this, made even worse for the Cox family through not knowing where Susans body is. What you're doing does much to restore my faith in my fellow man, and clearly touches the heart of Mr. Cox. Thank you.

I've lived in a house that was less than 5 minutes from the home where Josh killed his sons and himself. I remember huge billboards all over town with Susan on them and a message asking for help finding her. HeavyD and everyone helping are creating justice for Susan and it's amazing. Y'all are more than amazing and wholesome!

Keep going! Don’t forget to save dirt when you are at the bottom. Even more examination of the dirt at the bottom could be useful for some smaller bone particles. Dna tests etc. Don’t give up. I think you are right. It makes sense that he did discard her body in a mine shaft. Praying 🙏🏼 stay safe.

@@whatyoutalkingaboutwillis12 you do realize the sheer number of mines in Utah among just about every other US state mines are literally all over the nation many of which cave in NEVER to be explored again so they make sadly a GREAT place to hide a body and would NOT likely be searched at all due to the risk of the mine itself collapsing on you even more so if the mine is OLD like most of the mines in Utah

The fact that they are still bringing attention to this case and this mystery is also a big deal, Susan will be found and returned to her family eventually and laid to rest in peace.

It can take weeks to sift through all of that rubble & debris, you have to remember too that if she’s down there, her remains will be in all of that debris, that’ll have to be forensically tested. Recent news articles posted a day ago have found bones & clothing - they’re being tested as we speak. They may find more. Susan’s father has also joined them.
Yay I am so glad you guys did this. My heart has been so sad for Susan and her family for years. I was one of many volunteers on those searches. This warms my heart. You guys are awesome. I am also obsessed with her case too it and it just hits home. Maybe because it happened in our home state I don't know, but thank you for doing this with your gear!! I’m just now watching this and I have this STRONG feeling in my soul that this shaft is where she is. The timeline of when those guys where there in November to when Susan went missing in December to when they went back in January and the frame was destroyed, it all just lines up perfectly. Thank you for putting in the time and energy into exploring that shaft.

They didn’t unfortunately. If they had, police would have been notified, it would have been leaked to press and it would have had national news attention. This was a very big case at the time and still occasionally makes national media. They definitely did not find her.

This was awesome….. so I grew up in SLC, spent most of my life going into the mountains (hunting,Fishing, hiking, back packing, mountain biking, camping) The spot these guys are exploring is so remote, Nobody and I do mean nobody. would ever choose this area to go camping overnight in the middle of winter? Especially with 2 kids that young…..no cell service, the nearest town is maybe 100 miles away. Josh’s story never made sense. I hope you guys do find Susan and she can finally Rest In Peace

I received my New Miner 40 hour training in 2012. That is required to work at any real mine site in underground. My instructor from the State Colorado had lost his dad in a coal mining accident at age 13 . He told the story to the class then spent the next three hours explaining why reality TV has no place in our world. You see there was a film crew in that class for a reality tv attempt a something and old Joe really put them in there place! I have served on a very well known mine rescue team 10 years in and over 1000 hours of highly specialized training. All 5 positions on the line. The team and my self have responding to fatal accidents. Worked with the state and MSHA . Assisted the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, County law enforcement as well as the FBI in high profile cases. We have always managed to keep those efforts quit. My last hitch as a pneumatic diamond driller working alone under ground on old equipment was 16 straight 10.5 hour shifts. Then 2 weeks off . That’s typical. My foreman Dennis has worked over 30 years in Hard Rock . Lost his grandad to a mining accident and many friends. It is a hard life and the men who work in hard rock specifically are bad ass.! This show does not represent mining or mine rescue and recovery work in any way. Also the people in law enforcement don’t appreciate it either as it makes the real investigation look amateur! This show is a joke!

That's what I was about to say, they are doing by hand! At first I thought they should have a timber skidder with 9-12 cables on it to lift the bird cage timbers out. Not sure if that would have helped though. Now they need one of those suction hoses like on the sea wrecks that suck up everything like a monster shop vac.
@@kurtloptien185 It was already dug so no, they aren't digging it by hand. Removing a few feet of debris from the bottom is nowhere near close to digging the actual mine by hand. Big, big, big difference there man.

Yes you’re going to find Susan or find some type of closure for her family. I’ve watched this and part 2 and I feel even more confident she’s there after finding the burned wood under all the feet you had to dig to get to. What you are doing is so unbelievably beautiful and you can see just from your reactions, this really means something to you.

@@elterga6224 When all this happened it was reported on constantly. It felt like there were nearly daily updates on the investigation leading up to Josh's murder of his sons. I personally will never forget the moment I heard about it, and I was horrified at the failure of law enforcement to keep those boys safe and AWAY from their father.

That’s what I’m saying. If he was depressed after her disappearance I don’t think he would’ve killed the boys. But maybe he silenced them because they could’ve had information. Even though being 2 and 4 at the time. Could’ve seen her at one point.
Definitely seems suspicious. When you lay out the timeline and the events with the mine it only makes sense. I hope you do find her so she can be laid to rest like she deserves and her family can have some sort of closure.

Dave, here's the thing to think about. Look at the size of the tailings pile outside that mine. There is no way all those tailings came out of that one verticle shaft. Look at the size of that tailings pile compared to the size of the hole. There HAS to be an audit somewhere in that shaft. You may find that you have hit another birds nest and not the bottom of that mine. What was your depth at the time you hit that last pile? You know that the shaft is approximately 225 feet deep according to records. Just keep in mind many of those old records were nothing more than Guesstimates!
John, completely agree. They probably could do some quick estimates on dimensions of shaft and compare to volume of dump pile and see how far off it is and get an answer to whether or not there is more there than just a shaft. Would be a rough estimate, but the dump should be compacted enough by now to be close.
We are shy of 200 feet down. I know there has to be something else off the side at some point. There is material in the tailings that is different from the shaft host rock. -Alan

I’m from the South Puget Sound - Western Washington - and remember the Powell family’s depraved behavior very well. Steven Powell was the worst of the worst. What a sicko. I have always felt sad for Susan’s family not having closure, so this video gives me hope they’ll find peace. You and your crew are absolutely the best.
With the husband's suspicious "camping trip" into the area with his young boys in the middle of a snowstorm to the area, the mining rig being intact the month before, and destroyed the month after her disappearance, it makes sense that she could be there. The debris of dirt and rocks, with burnt beams and wood thrown into the shaft, seems incredibly unnatural. It wouldn't surprise me at all if you find her remains. The husband disappeared for what about 12 hours when he rented the car and put all those miles on it? You all only dug for about 6, and look how much you cleared out. I find it quite plausible that he came back and dumped dirt, rocks and debris into the shaft to further cover over her remains. I'm already waiting to see the next part of this expedition.
Her sister is a long time friend, although we've lost touch recently. The family really needs any big of closure they can get. So glad you all are doing this! Best of 🤞🤞

I'm by no means an expert, but I don't think a cadaver dog can pick up 13 year old bones 10 feet under dirt at the bottom of 230 foot hole. And I don't think theres anyway to humanely or safely get a dog to the bottom of the hole. and even then the dog still has to smell 13 year old bones through 10 to 15 feet of solid rubble. I think the only answer here is shovels winches and man power.

Since 2014 I've strongly identified with the Cox family, having lost my Daughter and two grandkids when my daughters husband, Josh Boren, murdered them, along with my ex wife in Spanish Fork Utah. It's unbelievable what the family goes through in a situation like this, made even worse for the Cox family through not knowing where Susans body is. What you're doing does much to restore my faith in my fellow man, and clearly touches the heart of Mr. Cox. Thank you.

I've lived in a house that was less than 5 minutes from the home where Josh killed his sons and himself. I remember huge billboards all over town with Susan on them and a message asking for help finding her. HeavyD and everyone helping are creating justice for Susan and it's amazing. Keep going! Don’t forget to save dirt when you are at the bottom. Even more examination of the dirt at the bottom could be useful for some smaller bone particles. Dna tests etc. Don’t give up. I think you are right. It makes sense that he did discard her body in a mine shaft. Praying 🙏🏼 stay safe.

@@banderson5676 Not necessarily. It can take weeks to sift through all of that rubble & debris, you have to remember too that if she’s down there, her remains will be in all of that debris, that’ll have to be forensically tested.
Recent news articles posted a day ago have found bones & clothing - they’re being tested as we speak. They may find more. Susan’s father has also joined them.

Yay I am so glad you guys did this. My heart has been so sad for Susan and her family for years. I was one of many volunteers on those searches. This warms my heart. You guys are awesome. I am also obsessed with her case too it and it just hits home. Maybe because it happened in our home state I don't know, but thank you for doing this with your gear!! I really hope you can find something amount that rubble that indicates she was or is still down there. You all would be heros in my eyes for closing that awful cold case.
I’m just now watching this and I have this STRONG feeling in my soul that this shaft is where she is. The timeline of when those guys where there in November to when Susan went missing in December to when they went back in January and the frame was destroyed, it all just lines up perfectly. Thank you for putting in the time and energy into exploring that shaft.

They didn’t unfortunately. If they had, police would have been notified, it would have been leaked to press and it would have had national news attention. This was a very big case at the time and still occasionally makes national media. They definitely did not find her.

This was awesome….. so I grew up in SLC, spent most of my life going into the mountains (hunting,Fishing, hiking, back packing, mountain biking, camping)
The spot these guys are exploring is so remote, Nobody and I do mean nobody. would ever choose this area to go camping overnight in the middle of winter? Especially with 2 kids that young…..no cell service, the nearest town is maybe 100 miles away.

I received my New Miner 40 hour training in 2012. That is required to work at any real mine site in underground. My instructor from the State Colorado had lost his dad in a coal mining accident at age 13 . He told the story to the class then spent the next three hours explaining why reality TV has no place in our world. You see there was a film crew in that class for a reality tv attempt a something and old Joe really put them in there place!
I have served on a very well known mine rescue team 10 years in and over 1000 hours of highly specialized training. All 5 positions on the line. The team and my self have responding to fatal accidents. Worked with the state and MSHA . Assisted the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, County law enforcement as well as the FBI in high profile cases. We have always managed to keep those efforts quit.
My last hitch as a pneumatic diamond driller working alone under ground on old equipment was 16 straight 10.5 hour shifts. Then 2 weeks off . That’s typical. My foreman Dennis has worked over 30 years in Hard Rock . Lost his grandad to a mining accident and many friends. It is a hard life and the men who work in hard rock specifically are bad ass.! This show does not represent mining or mine rescue and recovery work in any way. Also the people in law enforcement don’t appreciate it either as it makes the real investigation look amateur! This show is a joke!

That's what I was about to say, they are doing by hand! At first I thought they should have a timber skidder with 9-12 cables on it to lift the bird cage timbers out. I’ve watched this and part 2 and I feel even more confident she’s there after finding the burned wood under all the feet you had to dig to get to. What you are doing is so unbelievably beautiful and you can see just from your reactions, this really means something to you.

@@elterga6224 When all this happened it was reported on constantly. It felt like there were nearly daily updates on the investigation leading up to Josh's murder of his sons. I personally will never forget the moment I heard about it, and I was horrified at the failure of law enforcement to keep those boys safe and AWAY from their father.

That’s what I’m saying. If he was depressed after her disappearance I don’t think he would’ve killed the boys. But maybe he silenced them because they could’ve had information. Even though being 2 and 4 at the time. Could’ve seen her at one point.
Definitely seems suspicious. When you lay out the timeline and the events with the mine it only makes sense. I hope you do find her so she can be laid to rest like she deserves and her family can have some sort of closure.

Dave, here's the thing to think about. Look at the size of the tailings pile outside that mine. There is no way all those tailings came out of that one verticle shaft. Look at the size of that tailings pile compared to the size of the hole. There HAS to be an audit somewhere in that shaft. You may find that you have hit another birds nest and not the bottom of that mine. What was your depth at the time you hit that last pile? You know that the shaft is approximately 225 feet deep according to records. Just keep in mind many of those old records were nothing more than Guesstimates!
John, completely agree. They probably could do some quick estimates on dimensions of shaft and compare to volume of dump pile and see how far off it is and get an answer to whether or not there is more there than just a shaft. Would be a rough estimate, but the dump should be compacted enough by now to be close.
We are shy of 200 feet down. I know there has to be something else off the side at some point. There is material in the tailings that is different from the shaft host rock. -Alan

Collapsing a mine within 2-10 hours of where you live, is probably the worst idea anyone would ever think of doing after someone goes missing.
I’m from the South Puget Sound - Western Washington - and remember the Powell family’s depraved behavior very well. Steven Powell was the worst of the worst. What a sicko. I have always felt sad for Susan’s family not having closure, so this video gives me hope they’ll find peace. You and your crew are absolutely the best.

With the husband's suspicious "camping trip" into the area with his young boys in the middle of a snowstorm to the area, the mining rig being intact the month before, and destroyed the month after her disappearance, it makes sense that she could be there. The debris of dirt and rocks, with burnt beams and wood thrown into the shaft, seems incredibly unnatural. It wouldn't surprise me at all if you find her remains. The husband disappeared for what about 12 hours when he rented the car and put all those miles on it? You all only dug for about 6, and look how much you cleared out. I find it quite plausible that he came back and dumped dirt, rocks and debris into the shaft to further cover over her remains. I'm already waiting to see the next part of this expedition.
Her sister is a long time friend, although we've lost touch recently. The family really needs any big of closure they can get. So glad you all are doing this! Best of 🤞🤞

I'm by no means an expert, but I don't think a cadaver dog can pick up 13 year old bones 10 feet under dirt at the bottom of 230 foot hole. And I don't think theres anyway to humanely or safely get a dog to the bottom of the hole. and even then the dog still has to smell 13 year old bones through 10 to 15 feet of solid rubble. I think the only answer here is shovels winches and man power.

I Think you are SPOT ON with this venture! Your theory has merit! This shaft was deliberately collapsed and the time table matches. When the Dad murdered the boys and himself I was crushed. Everyone died that were involved, and there were no more leads. I think you have been inspired Heavy D. Your Passion and Compassion makes us want to be there with you helping with this recovery.
