    The fact that she got a 3.7 GPA independently... 👏🏻 Respect 👏🏻

    You can get great grades on hw without your classmates, but one benefit of studying with some classmates is career networking! 65% of jobs are filled because of "who you know". So the more classmates in your major that you know, the more chances you give yourself to access the "hidden" job market (either the hiring manager wanted to hire referrals instead, or the job just hasn't been posted on a job board yet, etc). Things I wished I knew sooner!

    To all of the engineering undergrads out there, GPA and your alma mater won't mean squat once you've reached the coveted 5 year mark in your career....don't fret yet. BTW, I'm a Purdue MSECE grad.

    This is very helpful. I'm a female and I still feel out of place when I'm around my coursemates lol because they're mostly guys. So thank you very much for the tips

      Parker Perry a 3 is still really good! Especially with engineering. I’ve seen a lot of my peers either flunk, stop going to class or change majors. As long as you get the degree, you’re fine. Having a higher gpa just gives you that little edge over other candidates. And I practically had no life with that 3.7 haha so it wasn’t all that great but thank you!

      @@TheSn12 Trust me I have no life and I still have a 3.0 flat. Im about to lose it trying to get vivado to work with this avnet minized board for my lab that I dont have a TA for cause its online... I appreciate your support lol and ironically I actually got an internship for AWS in the Bay Area and I received a job offer so all I have to do is complete this last semester. Please pray for me lol

    My first year of Computer Engineering has been a completer disaster. Online classes just isn’t my thing and my gpa is currently pretty low at the moment. Is it possible for me to end college with a gpa above 3.0?

      I started with a 1.9 GPA at Georgia Tech and have a 3.7 in my junior year now. Definitely possible. I have had all A's since my first semester though so it won't come without hard work, but very possible.

    I started my eng degree at Georgia Tech back in 2009 with a 1.9 GPA lol.. had to leave during the second semester but decided to go back and finish my degree 10 years later. I now have a 3.70 GPA going in my junior year.

      What are your tips/habits??? Please lol...I tried so hard this semester and ended up with a 2.48 gpa. I'm also going into junior year (mechanical engineer) but I did my first year at community college so only sophomore through senior year are being accounted for my gpa.

    I'm so glad you brought up the point about reading the textbook in your upper years. As I'm entering my fifth year I think that will be super necessary for me as I start taking the grad level classes now. Thank you! (Btw, do you have an instagram we can connect with you on?)

      That’s great! I’m glad you found my videos useful! And no, I don’t have an Instagram that I actively use. I’m mainly active on YT and try to reply to as many comments as I can so if you have any future questions/comments, then just let me know on here!

    Hey girl! Mechanical engineering major over here about to enter my junior year. I really want to step up my studying and shoot for higher grades and overall a better understanding of the material. I’m definitely gonna use your textbook tip. I’ve been stubborn with reading my textbooks. I want to start looking more into the topic that confuses me the day I learn it or a few days after. Congrats on such a good gpa !

    Thanks for sharing your tips!! I'm currently in my senior year with a degree in design and working on my BS in business but I'm thinking about a big career change into something more lucrative and interesting to me. Your videos have been super helpful giving me a better insight into engineering. Ideally, I'd like to become a 3D Printer Engineer in the fashion industry so I feel like trying out computer engineering would help to see if I like it and then apply those concepts and engineering fundamentals when approaching problem solving. It's great to see women pursuing careers in male-dominated fields!

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s an interesting choice. I’ve never thought of 3-D printer engineers but any type of engineering careers are almost alway lucrative (and if not, you could easily find another field of engineering since they are, fundamentally, similar). Computer engineering would definitely help you understand the fundamentals but I’m not sure if it would be the best option or educational background for a 3-D printer engineer since (as far as I’ve seen and known) most of our work involves computers and micro controllers. I’d do some research on what all is involved with 3D printing engineers (I.e. do they configure the software of the printer, assemble the printer, run physical/software tests, all of the above, etc?) and then see what engineering background requires that kind of knowledge/experience. Although if you do decide to go into computer engineering that’ll still definitely open doors for you to pursue this career. It would be great if you do decide to change careers because it would mean one more female (also named Sarah which is awesome 😎) would pursuing and education in engineering! And I’m glad to hear my videos have been helping! Thank you! 🤗

      I was horrible at some engineering courses (didn’t know what was going on most of the time) but I was willing to do whatever it took to pass and always pushed myself for a higher grade. If you feel the same way about your CS courses and are willing to do anything to pass then let me know when you graduate because you will be just fine 😁. I’m glad this helped!! 🙂

      Great video! This definitely answered all things I was worried about for engineering. It also makes me happy to know that there is another female out there who has passed their courses going this route. This is the way I am doing it now and feared about not having that “group” of people to help you through it all. Hearing how you were struggling but was able to overcome it is very inspiring. Thank you for this awesome video post.
