I also am intrigued by computers and just all aspects of it.But most of all,i love the feeling of being challenged and ultimately coming out on top.i feel like this degree allows for that, especially with the everchanging technology, nothing is ever just one thing, its great
Sara, thank you so much for posting videos about your experience as a student in Computer engineering. I'm getting my bachelors right now in computer engineering and your videos help a lot
and its FUN to learn about how this stuff works and you can use it to change the world by working for a company developing cutting edge tech like neuralink!
Hi! I am still undecided on which career I would choose because I like computer engineering because of hardware and building stuff's and also high income for future and my passion is to be a Chef but I think that's not good because I see a lot of Chef here in the Philippines not happy with cooking. The only thing made me afraid of Computer engineering is Math subject and some programming but still im learning in my Senior High School, my first year was good and I literally not know or had an idea in programming no matter what because my mindset is so much bad so I gave it a try and I now literally know how to program a bit 😅. My classmates and I are working on projects that involves computer system software (Employee Management stuff) and i feel confident now. BTW i flunked at math twice and once at programming. I hope you can help me.
I am at the final class of high school and I've had a hard time deciding what I want to study, because I love physics, aerospace and computers. I just discovered your videos and they are very helpful. I think I am going for Electrical and Computer Engineering. Thank you for sharing all this information and experiences with us!
That’s great! I’m glad to hear that they’ve helped. Well, if you do get a degree in CompE or EE, you can still go back to school and get a bachelors in physics or another field your interested in later on if you really wanted to. Or you could find a small hobby or part time job on the side that allows you to do Physics type work or other interests not related to your degree. And sure not problem! Thank you for watching!
Hi Sara! I am going to start studying CE this year. I am really interested in the field and I believe I am capable to study CE due to my math and physics etc knowledge. However I have no prior knowledge about programming or hardware and I am stressed about it. Can you make a video about it? About what should I do, projects, internships etc... Thank you sooo much :)
I love fixing phones and I have programmed a couple of video games I want to go back to School and use my brain but I currently make so much money like 3 times what an engineer would make and I don't know what to do lol what would your advice be? I also hate waking up early and dislike responsibilities but I want to work and build technology it really really interests me.
Good question. Well if you truly want to go back to school and are passionate about programming and building technology then, if I were you I’d either a) save up enough money to pay for school (if my employer won’t be willing to pay for my education) and take a couple credits a semester (online when possible) and continue working at my job until I get my degree. B) work at the engineering job for a good 5-8yrs, save and invest at least 70% of my income until I have 25x my annual expenses. Once I reach this amount I would quit my job, live in this amount and go back to school (again pay for it with a part time job or include it into my annual expenses amount) then start my own business building tech or as a freelancer helping other program their video games (which ever is less stressful). C) just start working on technology/programming games in my free time while continuing to work (I.e. weekends, afternoons, nights). All these options, if planned accordingly should be possible without having to wake up at the crack of dawn. However you can’t really avoid the responsibility especially if you want to start your own business doing this…hope this helps!
@@TheSn12 yea I do have my own business and its just going so well its hard to walk away if that makes sense I have like enough money for pretty much forever im just battling if I should take way less money and go into engineering for fun if that makes sense.
Do you think having a low GPA like 3.0-3.3 will greatly lower the chances of getting into a CE internship? I'm also a female who's planning on pursuing the same major but the difficulties of it that you mentioned in your videos is making me feel like I'll have a very tough time keeping grades up.
That’s a good question. From what I know, it depends on the place you’re applying to. If it is a large tech company such as Google, Apple, Intel, etc. then I think they’re more likely to accept interns with a lower GPA (3.0 or above). However if it’s in an area that involves the government and the defensive laboratories, then the chances of being an intern may be small because they look for students who have at least a 3.5 GPA. Fortunately, since you’re female, if your competition for an internship happens to be a male who has the exact same GPA as you then I think you’re more likely to get the position. There are far fewer females than males in the engineering workplace and companies need to balance that out. And if you’re willing to put in the time and work, then you will be okay and if you need help, ask ask ask until the professor gets annoyed.
Do you feel like a Master's is worth it? I'm a female Electrical Engineer. I graduated in 2013 and have been working ever since. Now thinking about taking a break to go back for a Master's either in the same thing or CS. Would love to hear your thoughts?
Sorry, little late with replying. I’m assuming you don’t have time anymore but I’d still like to answer your question. I really can’t say which one is better. Mainly because this depends on what you were interested in and are willing to do for the next 10+ years. Also, I don’t know much about business technology management in terms of how much they get paid on average and what kind of degrees are required as well as what kind of work you’re expected to do. I do know that with computer engineering you can easily get a really good paying job (at least 80k-90k+) right out of college with a bachelors degree and sometimes even an associates. And then from there increase your salary over the years as you become more experience and are able to do and take on more work. However, if you don’t enjoy doing technical type work like coding or working with hardware then being an engineer would probably not be a great option. If you’re instead more of a people person (get along with others, great communicator, good at resolving conflicts) then I would say MIS would be a better option. I just don’t know what the return on investment is in terms of how long you’d have to go to school versus how much you’ll be getting paid at your first job. Hope this helped
If you’re willing to put in the work, yes. Doesn’t master if you’re good at math or not. Just ask help whenever you don’t understand something. The average engineering student usually struggles and the only thing that separates them from getting an engineering degree vs those who don’t is that they don’t give up. If they fail a course/test, then they’ll just pick themselves back up and try again.
Everything that you said in this video is false where i live :))) there are too many engineers where i live 300 USD a month no jobs too many people study this field Appreciate what you are trying to put out there tho. wish it was the same where i live :((
i honestly have just ONE reason i wanna be a computer engineer, BECAUSE I LOVE IIIITT!!!!!!!!!

That’s awesome! You’ll have that CompE degree before you know it 🤓 And thank you for watching, I’m glad these videos helped 🤗

Thank you! You're a really smart person, not just academics wise but also life wise. If that makes sense haha
Great Video! you should do a day in the life of a computer engineering it would be a great video since their isnt any videos on youtube about it.
Thank you and I definitely will!
Thanks for the tips I’m getting into it now I’ve always wanted my wife to be a engineer ima find her too 💛
Very useful, thanks a lot
