Eric that was a great basic wrench for not having plans or elaborate machinery thumbs up on a decent wrench in a short time period! If you haven’t seen Mr Pete version of a similar type of wrench,it took 10 episodes completion. His was called a drill press wrench which could be fastened to the drill press table and swivel to reach any position needed, if on the next version of yours, all it would take is a bushing at the base of the wrench which would help keeping that end round all serve as a mounting hole to allow attachment to the table! Again a great video.
E: He was working on some small parts one evening and indirectly contaminated his beard with propellants from the world's most flammable workbench, then caught his face on fire while trying to cook dinner at his gas range.
I have a hunch that the twist on the handle was intentionally left open as it was drawn as a means of limiting leverage and preventing over-torquing. You feel the spring in the handle start to give, you know your bolt is tight and move to the next one. The type of steel you use and the length could make it a 50 ft lb wrench, or a 60 ft lb wrench. Super cheap and easy torque wrenches for the 1800's? Yes please.
Great video! I was surprised to see a wrench very similar to one I dug up at my house. Major rust, but kinda unique. I cleaned it and hung it on a nail. Thanks.

Plot twist: he’s been speaking the whole time, we just couldn’t hear it through the beard.
I lost it at this. This comment is so good.
Wholly crap!
I thought he spoke Canadian. Boy, was I wrong!
I thought he was Mute this whole time and was limited to gesures of slapping his forehead down on the plexiglass lid of the spray booth
i once told a coworker to speak up because his awesomely manly beard was absorbing most of the sound.
Shaved your beard?! I hope you make a new one 😉
Haha, it grows 1inch every hour.
Maybe he's restoring the old one
Great idea. More brining old patents to life please
