I like to think the player doesn't even have magical powers, they just carry severed hands from wizards with them and use those as weapons. Would explain the levitating spell being the only hand that's missing fingers. The lore goes crazy for this one

I feel like it could be better with an actual story. Maybe reskin the poop as blood and guts. Say you’ve been poisoned and are slowly disemboweling yourself. Side effect: your guts are toxic to others
I think it make sense all because of the eternal toilet. Like, he probably wants to make a story out of that toilet, and the story he probably thought was for the player to poop in the eternal toilet. Look how the other dev made an lore about it and an ending animation.

The issue with some of these devs is that all they want to do is leave their mark on the game rather than trying to make it better. Sometimes just changing random stuff or adding a new weapon that’s not necessary

Not true at all.
More bug fixes. The 2nd level wasn't even functional for some reason when they reviewed at the end.
More levels, which includes more enemies and bosses.
Making a cohesive story.
Polish.
Making the parry mechanic a bit more difficult.
Working out how to assign the different hands to new spells since apparently nobody can figure it out. May require a rewrite of that part of the code.

-The mushrooms & skull ennemy
-The hand sprite is back
-All the new levels
-The dynamic camera (a.k.a camera shake)
-The parcour session in the tower
-The pet picture museum

*What i didn't really like/ could have been done better:*
-The poop... yea i like trolls but this is too much
-The pixel shader, makes it blury and a bit hard to understand whats going on (even more with youtube compression)

lol yeah i agree, i wanted to make the game art style more cohesive but didn’t have enough time to downscale the assets properly. Luckily it was super easy to remove

@@Benw8888 Remember, starting this year, removing stuff is off the table because the audience bitched so much whenever that happened in the early episodes. I think overall this will be a good thing, but ocassionally when some things don't work you need to trim the fat. Just as long as you don't just remove stuff because you don't get it. But I don't know how you'd even come to a perfect solution in a challenge about not communicating.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the devs that fixed the bugs and actually spent time making the game better. Instead of adding sickening camera shaking, poop, and more attacks.
Fr strompy made the game not only look like a unity asset flip with thr post processing but also sickeningly bad camera shake and needless up and down movement of the camera. Worse thsn the poop addition imo.

Every poop mechanic could easily be swapped with the Object lift spill to keep the fantasy magic theme.
Good idea then you keep the work and mechanics of throwing and can tie in with the games aesthetic allot more, only problem is I wonder if it’s too late now as allot of work has leant into the idea of being more of a satirical game with the story and ending.

@@einfangirl2351 Yeah almost did for me aswell; It was that same dev that fluked out of the $3000 competition in the first round too, wasn't it? The guy who said he had his dad make that game for him? They really should just stop inviting him, he seems very immature and like he doesn't take it seriously at all. I am not saying you can't have fun, but he just doesn't seem that committed and comes across as more of a troll.
Fortunately, it looks like here at least, the later devs decided to just roll with it and actually do something worthwhile with the concept, and eventually turned it into something worth keeping, saving the game. Although really the same concept could have been done with almost anything else (for example an Eternal Chest and Enchanted Keys that are required to unlock it but can still double up as throwing weapons causing magical effects).

I think the poop mechanic in the game is cool, ONLY IF THEY IMPLEMENT IT INTO A NEW SPELL AND REPLACE THE POOP WITH SOME SORT OF MAGIC, it's really disappointing seeing this wonderful game be turned into a laughable poop simulator basically, and the mechanics of it could be turned into a new type of spell to create an object, which only has to be retextured poop
at this point, i dont think they can remove the poop. other devs built on the mechanic and added a story to it, to remove the poop you have to either remove their work as well or decontextualize their work. Given how much time they have for each segment, they are sacrafising adding/fixing more important stuff and risking upsetting everyone who liked poop

lore idea. When you learn a new spell, each finger on the hand will have come from a slain wizards, which would allow you to claim to the power of the spell. This limits you to only 5 spells, but would potentially allow some progression ideas to make stronger spells.
Thatd be a cool mechanic too if there was a spell combination system like in Magika 2 and the spells you could combine were based on what finger you claimed on the level. A dragon finger gives fire spells, a skull finger bone gives necromancy etc stc

I hated the toilet/poop stuff at first but tbh I like it now. It challenged future devs to turn what was originally a generic magic/fantasy setting in to something more unique, and it worked lmao. It's now a seedy parody/comedic styled fantasy theme which sort of reminds me of the shadowwizardmoneygang tiktok trend. It was added early enough that there was still like 70 devs to make it work.
Also even though the Vitaly guy has been frustrating in previous challenges, it was the dev that added the giant toilet that started the random thematic shift, not Vitaly.
That pixel filter is agonising to look at. Feels like I got cataracts...

Great example of how important Narrative Design is!
A lot of devs treat narrative as a sort of glue you add towards the end of development, a way to retroactively connect disparate mechanics.
But VYKRI's additions showed why narrative can be MORE useful in the early stages. Instead of being a glue meant to stick things together, it acted as the boundaries that devs could work within. It became like the base of a christmas tree, that all the devs could ornament. Once the narrative was established, it gave everyone a common goal to build around, and the game got a lot more focused.
I'm just happy to see the grey tablet and spell UI design I made carried through out and expanded upon.
This game definitely needs multiplayer (or they can’t do that?!)

@@Maxdude27 A. you are just ctrl v-ing this on every single comment at this point. It's come to an area wherein you blindly have faith in the poop. Without it, the game would still be interesting. Wizard Doom is really cool, but I missed the part in a serious Doomlike where the MC threw his bodily waste at enemies. For a serious game, it just became a difunctional idea. And yes, the game could still find a more mature & definitely better way to become interesting without poop, such as something more gore-esque, as that actually fits the idea of the game.

You shouldn't be mad at someone for building up on the poop idea, to me it feels like part of the game, as much as it is a bit out of place. I didn't rly care when poop was added, nor by extension, when the 3D hand first replaced the original. The whole idea of this is to see what will happen when devs work on a game without communicating.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. So be it.
And this one in particular is bound to get crazy since it's 100 devs, not just 5 or 6. Feels like this audience can be a bit toxic. But please express your thoughts in the reply, I wanna hear your opinion about it :)
I’m not mad at the devs who built upon the poop mechanic because they were just working with what they were given. It’s just that I believe it was unnecessary for it to be added in the first place when could have been multiple other things that they could have implemented instead. Although that is just my opinion

But idk if I can rly back up Vitali, I watched the video they made before this one and holy frick did this guy made some questionable sh- with his project. The poop I don't mind, but this other thing goes too far. Like what the hell lmao.
I do hate how people hate on Vykri (thank god not as much as Vitali), imo not only his part is pretty creative but also I love how he pieced the intro using stuff already implemented and created a silly lore.
i moreso have a problem with the dev who added the poop, this guy vitali; everytime hes been invited has treated it like a joke and doesnt even do jack shit, on a $3000 tournament he didnt even submit a game and just acted smug about, he doesnt try nor care, he has ruined chances for other devs to participate in videos, especially the $3000 challenge, where another dev who actually cared could have been given a chance, he needs to not be invited to anymore videos from now on.
@@jelousjake3500 when I made this comment I didn't know about all of that. Still doesn't change my mind about the poop but I do agree that on the 3000$ especially he did nothing. 0 efforts. So I have to agree with you on that one, as much as it sucks. That comes from someone who usually don't care about who is featured in these videos, even if they did something that angered the viewers (ex : Wishbone and the 3D hand)

Just enjoy the show, if you don't like one of the devs choice, go and volunteer and be part of the process, change whatever you want at the point. @@glngaThe whole point of these challenges is that they're actually trying to make a game at the end. The moment the devs aren't taking it seriously, the challenge loses all meaning. The poop thing is embarrassing and undermines the whole direction of the game that was set up by the 28 devs prior.

A personal note from a longtime game player: While big numbers are an easy way to make an attack feel impactful, by removing the small numbers in order to implement them, you distort the frame of reference for how much damage you are actually doing, which can remove ALL impact from the display, effectively reducing it from a helpful tooltip to meaningless visual clutter.

Having groups of devs might be a good idea in future. One group must focus on level design, another on combat, another on art and so on. It would make sure thay all areas of the game get equal attention and it might become a more complete game by the end

Might be a bit of scrutiny but the cheese guy was also off-putting, literally did nothing except for try and add an unnecessary weapon for a gag and to leave his mark (and didn't even finish leaving more for others)
I like it, reminds me of DUSK having the soap that can one shot, it's a cute easter egg without detracting from the game if you can hide it behind a parkour section or secret boss or smth.

It would be really cool if each spell hand was missing the fingers and then after each level you gain 1 finger back and thus increasing your power/number of spells, and you can only touch the toilet again once you have your fingers back, at which point you pass out and wake up at the start of the game again like a new toilet plus play through
The poop mechanic really gotta be reworked, if nothing it has.. potential

Maybe this sounds harsh, but this is two videos in a row that Vitali kind of botched in my opinion. It's easy to see he's not engaging with things seriously.

Disagree. Maybe the game needed more mechanics but it didn't have to stoop to something as uninteresting as that. And it permanently affected the direction of everyone else in the future

it gives off a feeling of shooter game rather than magic.
a defensive spell would be great, like a wall infront that could also be used as leverage for attack. or a wood spell that could bind enemies

moment of appreciation for the devs that fixed things, such as the framerate and minor bugs, etc, rather than adding something flashy - they're the glue of a collab like this.
Also unpopular opinion, but at least the whole poop mechanic thing gave the object lifting spell an actual use as well as a creating a new mechanic to fight the spider boss. It would be nice to see it get changed to something less childish in the future but between having it and not, it adds more than it takes away.
Lots of people are mad about the poop addition. I will say I felt uneasy about it at first, and it didn't seem to be in good faith, but I love the good work the future devs did in working with it non-destructively!
Lots of games have poop, binding of isaac, ark, lego starwars, etc. It's not that wild, lol
The thing with this though is that it has become a staple of the game and basically turned it into one big poop joke unlike those other games

It's reasonably well known that twice as many devs makes gamedev take twice as long, but now I see why - if they were all good devs, it'd be great, but there's always one or two of them that seem to actively try to ruin it
