I've never seen these dogs before. I do have a Christie with the same face mold as you have in tge orange. I have a Teresa with the same face mold as you have in the blue. I think both of mine are from the same time frame as your new ones. My Teresa has the bendan snap knees. My Christie is one of the unusual Gumby type Barbies that Mattel made. This is a great video!
... And yes, Christie had her own unique sculpt in the beginning, that Mattel used for the first Talking, TNT and Malibu dolls, (and also for their celebrity doll, Julia, a TV character played by Diahann Carroll... I wish they used it longer than they did...) then the Steffie mold was used for the later Malibu Christie dolls and for another mid 70's dark complected friend of Barbie's named Cara, for four dolls from 1975-76. Christie also interestingly even used vintage Midge's mold (only once for Live Action Christie in 1971!) and even the Superstar Barbie face sculpt (For Superstar Christie and Beauty Secrets Christie.) The Steffie sculpt was also used of course, most famously for Black Barbie and a host of early 80's dark complected dolls, like those versions of Magic Curl Barbie, Golden Dream Barbie and Pink N' Pretty Barbie, and of course for about 1,000 other Caucasian dolls.
I really like Teresa doll. She is so pretty. Christie is also pretty. Lol. You were so funny making those cutouts. I like the shirts, but not the long skirts. I wish mattel still made those sneakers. They are cool😮! Maybe they do. Enjoyed
These are some of the very rare few 2000 dolls I actually really like as they have this retro-y 60's/70's vibe about them ... and it's an odd but very cute idea to pop in some pics in their pockets. (Giving new definition to the meaning of the term 'Pickpockets!' LOL) Wouldn't it be fun to put a letter instead of a pic in each pocket - in a groovy retro font, of course - to spell out their nickname or something? (IE: 'CHRIS' though they could spell out any four/five/six-letter word!) Though I'm loving that strip of funky retro-ish illustrations that Christie has!!! That Teresa face looks a bit Mena Suvari-ish (which makes sense as she was everywhere around then, I guess.) Yeah, I'm always shocked to think that 2000 was almost quarter of a century ago, too!!! You have exactly the same reaction as I always do when I'm telling some Gen Zer that 2000 seems like yesterday! LOL
Wow I’ve never seen these before! They seem nice for creative kids to play with. Also great collectibles.
Loved this video, it's fun learning about obscure Barbie lines like this!
❤
That time period was strange to me. Mattel was kind of phasing out the 66 body but you never knew what you were going to get (66, 91 or 99).
