I'm into 90s Barbies because of their face molds (gorgeous). I grew up with the Barbie in plastic tube packaging and weren't into the aesthetics so never collected them. As I grew older the barbies kept getting worse looking in my humble opinion. As adult and free to browse and shop on my own I discovered 80s and 90s barbies that's now can be very expensive. I managed to grab a few of 90s line and they're so gorgeous. I particularly like the Teresa face (you know, the pouty cool girl) and have the lace n light Teresa amongst a few other Teresa mold. Cheers to 90s barbies ❤❤❤
Love it! Nothing makes me more happy than finding 80s and 90s barbies. 😌 ✌🏽 I've not yet found boxed ones as they tend to be expensive but I get second hand ones and restore them. 😌
I would love to get more Barbies! But I don’t really have the space for them and I already spend enough money on my other obsessions. 😂 Specifically, I’d like to have more of the ones I had as a kid. If I happen to find them cheap, I’m sure I’ll grab them. I’ve never restored a Barbie, but I love watching videos of people restoring them! 😍

It’s easy to get in the mindset that you need to be like other people and tone down who you are, especially when you’re putting yourself out on the Internet for everyone to see and you’re naturally a very shy person like I am. But the only way to find your people is to be who you are. =) So I really do just try to have fun and be myself and I’m so happy to know that it comes across in my videos. 💗 And unless you do customer service through chat as well, you’ll probably never hear from me because I’m too anxious to call Amazon. 🤣

It’s always fun to get to relive those memories a bit. 💗 I’m not sure when I got my first Butterfly Barbie when I was a kid, but I’m sure it was either my birthday or Christmas. 💕 Opening these Barbies definitely felt like being a kid again!

The Sharin' Sisters set has to be my fave Barbie set ever; the clothes are so whimsical and 90s, it all makes me so happy, and watching you talk about it made the experience even better. I subscribed to you months ago when I first saw this video and I have watched pretty much all the videos on your channel, they are great and I hope you get to review more Barbie dolls from your childhood, you have a special way of waxing poetic about them that makes for quite the pleasant watch.
Now, if you don't mind, I'll get a little nerdy about the set. To my knowledge, the splash of paint fabric used in this set was also used in 2 of the fashion packs of the Paint n Dazzle line, one for Barbie (her pants have that fabric) and one for Skipper (her shirt has it). That fabric was also used in the jumpsuit of Fashion Play Barbie (code number 2370). It was probably used on other lines or fashion packs as well.
Two things about your set in particular, you got the variant that the hair fiber of Skipper is kanekalon, it is very fluffy and soft. There's also a set variant where Skipper has the saran fiber, that one is very shiny and has a heavier feel to it. Both fibers have their pros and cons, I like them both equally.
I noticed in the video you put Barbie's shoes on Skipper and Skipper's on Barbie, that's why they were so tight. I recommend putting them on their respective owners, because the pressure could make them prone to breaking.

That’s really interesting about the hair! I know for sure that my childhood Skipper had really fluffy hair too, so I must have gotten the same type as I did when I was a kid. =) Good to know!
Also good to know about the shoes, thank you! I currently have the pink tennis shoes on Barbie and the pink flats on Skipper, and I have since I made the video. Are those their correct shoes? I guess the Sharin’ Sisters are happy to share everything…except their shoes! 😂 That’s where they draw the line haha.
I’m really glad you enjoyed this video so much! It was so fun getting back all of these Barbies from my childhood. 🥰 It was especially incredible to be able to get them new and get to open them again. Truly felt like a childhood Christmas or birthday! =) I have so many happy memories of playing with them as a kid and I’m so glad to have them again.
There are definitely more Barbies I had as a kid that I wouldn’t mind adding to my collection. If I get anymore, I’ll have to do a video on them! 💕

Yes, kanekalon is super fluffy and easy to spot on blondie dolls because pretty much it was always platinum blonde. There was also kanekalon in black, brown and red, but it sometimes is harder to identify. I think it's a great fiber because you can style it more easily. Also, if you mess up the hairdo you are trying for, you just need hot water and it will go pin straight, careful though, if the water is extremely hot it can ball up, but do not fret, you just need to have slightly less hot water and it will go straight if you try again. Kanekalon was discontinued for Barbie in the mid 00s if I'm not mistaken. Saran on the other hand is a really glimmering fiber, if it was curly or wavy from the factory and if you find a doll with it that also has matted or box hair, when you boil wash it the curls will reform, it kinda looks like magic and it's a beautiful fiber. Mattel still uses saran nowadays, as well as a really awful fiber called polypropylene.
Haha yesss now they have their correct footwear and yeah they had to draw the line somewhere! Skipper said "Not my flats, sis! The orthopedist sent them specifically for me!" 😂😂

I totally agree with what you said about opening a new Barbie, it feels like a birthday or christmas, that new old stock smell is great haha. You never know what amazing deal you can find on ebay, also on shopgoodwill, so there are plenty of "inexpensive" options. Look at me being a devil on your shoulder 😆😈

It was quite fun for me as well to see them next to each other! And I’m glad to hear you think she is still in good condition! I’ve honestly not done anything to keep her that way, other than occasionally brushing out her hair. I was always super careful with everything I owned. Wouldn’t even doodle on my school books as a kid because I didn’t want to ruin them. 😂 I guess it worked out in her favor, haha! =) 💗

It was really nice to see Butterfly Princess Barbie up close and "working". I found the doll at the fleamarket but I even her hair was in such bad condition that I completely had to straighten it. And I don't have her dress or accessories. I had no idea the feature works with magnets. I was always wondering how the butterflys would flap their wings.
Did you notice that all 3 Barbies you got there, have crimped hair😅? Funny, as there were also lots of dolls with big curls but all of yours have crimped hair.
Anyways, cool to hear you had so much Barbie merch as a child. Oh and you had Hot Skating Barbie? I had Hot Skating Ken 😜 I actually still have him. One of the 3 survivors of my childhood😆

Aww, only three survivors. 😂 I’m sure we have talked about it before, but my only survivors are obviously the Sharin’ Sisters Barbie and one Ken. I’m fairly certain he is a Glitter Beach Ken, but he isn’t in his original clothes anymore. I know he used to have swim trunks, and the early 90s timeframe matches up.
And yes! I looked up Hot Skatin’ Barbie just now and I am 100% certain that I had her. I remember that helmet and especially those rollerblades! 😍 Great, now I want her too. 😂 Wonder if the guy I bought these from has her? 🤔🤣
