seamus (one who stamped the inside) is my boyfriend! so cool to see his work in use :)
YES!!! Please do a lap harp comparison…you have 3 to compare now, don’t you? Can’t wait!
Hope you saved a couple of those special Minnesota-made bubble wrap bubbles for Caleb to pop!! Congrats, btw! You can do the comparison video in your ample free time. 😂
Wow! Beautiful instrument! Quick correction: at 2:12 you say that it has 19 strings, but I believe it has 29!
Oh yes, you're right! Good catch Katharina 😃
These are quite amazing instruments. I received mine about a year ago and have been very impressed with the comfort, great sound, and the great range in a compact size. I had mine strung A to A and it has opened up A LOT of repertoire that I can play on it without adjustments! I appreciate the Camac levers too.
very much looking forward to Sonnet/Marini Bass harp comparison!!!
All the best for your harp journey! You’re right: That’s my Ashford Traditional spinning wheel. I also have a Lendrum
which folds so it is more portable.
Oh wow I've always been very curious about the Sonnet. Great to see it here.
How nice to share such lovely harp vibrations with baby! Beautiful!
Jasper has a side career as a music critic. Lovely harp!
Jasper must have "purrfect" pitch! 🤪 🐾
I love mine. My Orla is strung A to A per request (option no longer available). She has a Tiger Bronze Vivid finish (which is applied over maple). I also ordered an upgraded soundboard veneer. I can’t wait to order the new stand.😊
Loving the harp, of course...the sound is just amazing!
...but as a spinner, I'm completely enthralled by that lovely spinning wheel in the background!!!
Christy-Lyn’s Mom here! That’s my Ashford Traditional Spinning wheel in the background! I’m a spinner too- and a weaver.
Beautiful harp aside, the little meows from Jasper were so cute!!
Very nice intrument. Just like the ones used by the 120 harpest use. (I think)
I'm sure you now have your new son before you released this video. Congradulations.
Wow 🥹 the lights!
Aren't they fun? 🤩
Oh my gosh I have been wanting to order one for 3 years! In fact I have been talking to Stephanie, and Tracie Lin about them. I’ve been trying to convince my husband to let me buy one, and I will sell my Harpsicle. Oh and something that Tracie Lin did to stand up her harp and rest it was she used a cello stand which is adjustable since the soundboard is asymmetrical. I’m not sure if you noticed that. The right side is wider than the left so that you can turn it in comfortably and it just shapes to your body. Ha you can tell that I wrote this before getting to the end of the video.
Beautiful wood. Lovely full sound. Love the design. Wow your harp boxes have been getting smaller since the pedal.
That is a BEAUTIFUL harp! I am interested in hearing the comparison as well!
Certainly wonderful and divine instruments God is going to be a wonderful person for the baby. 💛🎼
Oooh, I need that stand!
Looking into getting a small harp and wondering if that could be it.
This is incredible!
Beautiful 😮
Well now I'm tempted!!!!!
😆💚
It looks and sounds beautiful! I am curious. How difficult will it be to access the back of the soundboard when it is time to change a string?
I love the stand! I hope I can get one for mine soon.
Love, love this!! I could do this one! Can't wait 2 get one...and hopefully take the music reading course....❤
I love your harp unboxing videos!! ❤
We have so much fun making them! 🤗
Sonnet is my favorite lap harp. I even bought 2 of it. cherry wood and galaxy purple maple wood. 😂😂
Which string range? The standard C-C or A-A, or one of each?
@@organist1982 both A-A. sonnet harp C-C the higher 2 notes sound a little bit creep. A-A avoid that problem and you can play more chord on it. But more low notes needs to be more careful to avoid the buzzing sounds. Cause lower notes strings are more wide and play it more carefully . C-C tension is better than A-A but you will got 2 high notes never play. A-A got 2 need more carefully lower notes but sounds good and do more chords.
@@shunyinwong7436 Yes, everything you said about the differences between A-A and C-C is what I had assumed. I wish MusicMakers had sent her the A-A version!
Wow! That harp sounds amazing! 😊
We think so too! 🤩
I'd love to know what make that tuner is!
So exciting! have a very old 26-string Dusty Strings harp with only C and F sharps. I've been think of upgrading, and this might be what I need. I took your how to practice course, and it has helped so much. By the way, is that an Ashford spinning wheel I see in the background?
So, between this harp and the 28-string Bass Lap Harp by Marini, which do you prefer? 🤔
Stay tuned for a comparison video in the future! 🤩
Wondering if you might compare Sonnet to Stoney End Even Song. Have a Dusty Strings Crescendo 34 (22#) but hoping for a light weight therapy harp that you could carry with a strap that had deep bass range. Christina 25/26??
Is the finger spacing on the Sonnet the same as your Troubadour?
Thank you for sharing! I have this harp, as an alternate to my pedal harp. I have the cello stand, and use it to store the Sonnet, but am interested in the new harp stand. May I ask your height? I'm only 5 feet 4 1/2 inches, and wondering if the new stand could work for me. Thanks!
it DOES sound like a big harp, that's neat! Is it harder to change the strings with the holes being on the sides rather than the back? And does that angle on the bottom make it slide too much if it's not on a stand?
With the stand, it looks like a floor harp.
You're so right! The wood matches nicely 😃
It really is stricken beautiful.
How many harps do you have?😃
I have one small one😊
Wait! Do you spin too?
Interesting!! I’d love to see it compared to a floor harp. Also, I don’t see a link for the wood stand??
The wood stand is currently a prototype, so it's not for sale quite yet! 🤞🏼
This harp truly has a beautiful sound! May I ask how much it weighs? Thanks
It weighs 9.5 pounds 🤗
No, this one is much larger.
The sound is big. Do you recommend this harp nfor beginner?
I think it would be a great harp for a beginner! I'd strongly recommend getting a stand to put it on like Christy-Lyn did in this video, that way it feels really stable as you're playing it. You might enjoy watching a comparison video we recently released of this harp with 2 other harps. That way you can hear more of how it sounds compared to other harps! Question: I want to learn to play a harpicle. But my fingers nails are naturally 1cm long from the nail bed. Oval shape n c-curved n grow straight out. Do you have to play the harp w no finger nails?
Thank you for your help.
You can play harp with your nails - classic guitar players often use nails on nylon strings, so why shouldn't harpists? In fact I'm pretty sure historical harps enthusiasts often do so. The technique will be slightly different however. On the other hand you could later upgrade to a brass string harp which requires you to have long nails and those things sound heavenly.
Hello! You might find that you have some unwanted buzzing when you play with longer nails so it's ideal to have your nails short if possible, but you should definitely give it a try!
When is baby coming again🙌❓
Baby Caleb has arrived! 🥰 Christy-Lyn is now on maternity leave♥ --Carrie
