Here it is, the comparison between this Ballad and the Ravenna: th-cam.com/video/6JgkOobdFQ8/w-d-xo.html 🤗
Please do the comparison! I hear so many good things about Musicmakers and Dusty Strings, and I would love to hear the differences between their harps.
Yes, I'd love to hear a comparison
Me too!
OH MY GOSH Carrie! I JUST found this video of you unboxing your new beautiful Musicmakers harp! It was fun to see it actually being delivered and I laughed out loud at your "coffin" comparison box! You play so beautifully - free and angelic! I've enjoyed learning from your video courses and so thankful you joined LTH! Enjoyed seeing your kitty, Murph(y)? I have a tuxedo cat of my own and, well, being a cat, is also always curious at new things. (My cat LOVES boxes - any size, any shape!). Thank you for making the comparison video of your two harps. Both beautiful in their own way. Also, sometimes I have a hard time seeing my strings when playing - depends on what's in the background and if it's too "busy" with colors, it makes it hard. I have meant to ask you about your background when you teach the courses.
When I was looking for a harp, at first I thought I’d want a Ravenna. But I had heard some parts were plastic. I don’t know if this is true or not. But then I started doing sound comparisons, and I started looking into Musicmakers harps and fell in love with the Jolie. I absolutely love it. I had a custom color made in a very deep green that fades to black along the edges. And then had a curly maple sound board put on. The only thing with a dark color is that it makes in more difficult to see my lowest F string. I was steered away from a dark soundboard for the same reason. People say it is more difficult seeing strings. But the sound is incredible.
Yes, always stay away from dark colors on harps because the darkness will bury the string making them difficult if not impossible to see. I have had 2 music makers harps and loved them both.
Woah that sounds like a beautiful harp, Sharon! Deep green is one of my favorite colors, so much so that I painted my harp studio a deep forest green! 🤣 I can imagine that might make it tricky with the F string. Hopefully it's something you get used to overtime! -Carrie ♥
Not only does it look beautiful, but it sounded so clear.
Haha, love the coffin joke😅 Please, do make a comparison video, I'm soooo curious!
I love to hear harp comparisons- especially since I have a ballad that I am in the process of building with major help from a friend. Waiting for the weather to warm up to apply finish.
FYI: It’s good to keep tha box in case you move to a new place. Helps protect it during a move. Yessss Gurl I’m here for it, do tha comparison. And dont worry I wasn’t judging you. You Good 👍🏾
🤣Yes, it's so helpful to have when you move!
the harp has a gorgeous sound!!! I love it!!! and it's beautiful too!! comparison would be great, however i know this one will be better on my ear!
So glad you love it!! ♥ --Carrie
Yes please do the comparison.
The cat playing harp is gorgeous! ❤😂
She is a very curious cat 🤣 Loves to check things out! She just got a little too close for comfort with her claws haha 😅
Yes, please do a comparison video! ❤️🥰❤️
Hi Carrie, lovely video. I will probably see this harp somewhere in the video-lessons😊😢
You sure will! 🤗
I would love to hear a harp comparison. Lately I have been considering a Musicmakers harp especially the Jolie. The Ballard sounds lovely!
Yes, I'd like to hear a comparison. I'm also curious about string spacing. Is there a noticeable difference between them? And, if you know, how do they compare to a Harpsicle?
There is a bit of difference in the string spacing, but not super significant! That might be something we cover more in depth in the comparison video, so stay tuned! 😃 And the harpsicle is quite a different feel, with the lower tension strings and more narrow string spacing. Much different sound quality too! -Carrie 💚
How beatuful. I can't ask for more than hearing your new harp played by a fantastic harpest.
That is so sweet!! Thank you ☺♥ --Carrie
of course Murph was interested. it's a BOX. 😆
She loves a good box 🤪
Learning! total nice ! till next time~ ✋
Beautiful! Always fun to hear comparisons between harps, so yes, please do a comparison video! ♥️
Music makers really impressive.I wonder how many musical instruments there are in the world today. Anybody has a listing. Like the kits concept. Good to sell overseas.
It is pretty incredible to think about how many instruments there are in the world! 🤯
Hi Carrie. Beautiful wood. I would love to hear the comparison with the Ravenna.
Yes please! 🎉
Beautiful harp! Yes! Comparison please!
Beautiful ❤️ 👏 😍 🤩 👌 Thank you 😍
This harp is absolutely Stunning! Especially seeing that there is a purple version of it! I just recently began taking lessons to learn to play my harp. It’s only a baby though and only has 15 strings.
That's so exciting! Best of luck on your harp journey ♥ it would be fun to play a purple harp! 😃
@@LearningtheHarpunfortunately the version I saw ~the purple version~ ran a total cost, with options of, I think, 4K. But since I’m just starting maybe it is something that I can save up for. I’ve only played a lever harp a couple times. 🥺 including the harp lessons I am currently taking 🥺
Yes!
Yes do a comparison!
I would love to hear a comparison.
Gorgeous Carrie! What were you playing at the end of the video? It was beautiful. I really enjoyed the video, very exciting 😀 😊
Thank you Naomi!! I'm playing the mid-intermediate level of The Water is Wide/When I Survey The Wondrous Cross ♥ --Carrie
Beautiful! How fun. Yes! I would love to hear the comparison between the two harps.
I would also be interested to hear how this compares to the Jolie. I understand the spacing and tension are less on the Ballad. I'm also wondering how the Ballad and Jolie compare to my Rees Brilliant Harpsicle.
Maybe we'll have to do a comparison of the Jolie and Ballad one day! 🤗
The wood looks lovely but personally I don’t like the look of the pillar and the way it attaches to the neck. It probably makes it lighter in weight and more compact. Personally I really like the brighter sound. What is the tension. Are the strings nylon?
The strings are nylon and low tension! 🤗
What are your thoughts on double strung and cross strung harps respectively?
I actually have not played on either! I know a handful of students in our community have played on double strung harps and really enjoy them 😃 I would love to try them out one day! Although it is a bit mind-boggling to think of trying to play 2 rows of strings at the same time 😆-Carrie
How many strings is this harp? And yes, a comparision would be great!
34 strings! You can read more about it here: geni.us/balladharp 💚
😁❤👌
I also own a Ballad. Music Makers harps have much better sound than the Ravenna. Good choice.
I think they're both great harps with different strengths! That's awesome you're enjoying the Ballad 😃
