The Building Bridges Through Music (“BBTM”) program is designed to teach students about the beauty and richness of the Arab culture while providing opportunities for cultural understanding and enrichment.

Just imagine that this piece blongs to the golden times of the Islamic and Arab civilization in Andalusia and that survived and still alive. Just a piece that was so so porgressive and a real miracle to still touch people from all over the world despite of the centuries and time!!!

يبدو أنك غير متابع بالمرة فالعالم العربى يعج بالعديد من الفرق التى تقدم موسيقى التراث منذ بداية ستينات القرن الماضى وبدأت فى مصر على ماأعتقد بداية من فرقة الموسيقى العربية بقيادة عبدالحليم نويره وفرقة أم كلثوم بقيادة حسين جنيد وتوالت بعده فرق عديدة فى مصر حتى وصلنا إلى فرقة دار الأوبرا المصرية بقيادة سليم سحاب وأيضا فى وتونس ولبنان والعراق وسوريا والمغرب والكويت وعمان والأردن وتقريبا فى كل الدول العربية.ذلك فضلا عن قيام العديد من المطربين والمطربات العرب بتقديم هذا التراث فى اعمالهم ولو كانوا غير متخصصين به.فيبدو أنه كما يقولون زامر الحى لا يطرب فها أنت تشيد بهذه الفرقة- ولا مانع فى ذلك- ولكن أن تنكر كل ماقدمه الفنانون العرب فى هذا المجال فهذا ظلم كبير.ملاحظة أخيرة قد يكون أداء هذه الفرقة جيدا من حيث المظهر والتقنية والإبهار ولكنه يفتقد لأهم ما يميز تراثنا وهو الروح وهو ما إفتقدته فى هذا الفيديو وهذا طبيعى فأنت تؤدى شيئا وأنت غريب عنه لا يمكن أن يمس شغاف قلب المتلقى كما يكون الحال عندما تكون أنت منه وهو منك.

Gentleman @ 9:23 hit the spot. Perfect pronunciations, especially the emphasis on the "N" in "Yatathanna" and the correct "H=ح" in "Hibbi". Such nuances makes huge difference for the native listener. No wonder el maestro kept him for the grande finale. Bravo.

What a wonderfull way to find an ancient song created in my country (al-Andalus - nowadays Andalucía - Spain) in the 14th century. The lyrics are a type of andalousian poem called "moaxaha" (موشح) . A magnificent performance.
As an Arab I really wish to visit spain and see the ancient arab culture
"Moaxaha" or "Mowashah" is an Arab genre of music not a singular song or poem, it was common in Levant and Andalucia and is usually associated with the Ummayads, it spread then to the Maghreb, and then to Egypt.

This song and music took me back to the Andalusian time, the beautiful architecture and I can almost feel the breeze of a fresh air and the sound of green trees and the soft sun light while this music is playing in the background, I feel like I don't belong to this time . It's very hard to listen to any modern songs after listening to this masterpiece today.

As a native Arab speaker, the singer in the minute 9:24 is the only Arab singer of all the ones sing it as solo. They saved him to the end, but his voice is not the Orchestra style because we we’re not used to sing it like this. We sing it more softly. But unfortunately the western audience did not understood that. They did not clap for him. However, his pronunciation of the Arabic phonetics are all correct of course. Unlike the others before him which you feel a foreigner is singing your native language from the first word you heard. With all respect to all those lovely singers in this video who have great voices and tried to pronounce the Arabic as best as they could.

- تَوفي في العام 1374م في فاس/المغرب.
- أندلسِيًا لُقِب ب "ذو الوزارتين" كان عَلامَة، وشاعِر وكاتبًا وفقيهًا مالكيًا ومؤرِخًا وفيلسوفًا وطبيبًا وسِياسِيًا.
- درس الأدب والطب والفلسفة في جامعة القرويين بمدينة فاس.

لسان الدين بن الخطيب من اصل جزائري ولد في خنشلة و عاش في الأندلس.
من الملفت أن يقحم الناس القبلية والمناطقية ويفوتوا على أنفسهم وعلى غيرهم متعة الإستمتاع للجمال، رؤية الجمال، استنشاق الجمال، أن يحزن إن حاول غيره أن يصيخ السمع للجمال، أن تهدأ نفسه بالجمال، أن يجد فسحة فرح في عالم يتلاطم بالحروب والدماء والبؤس، والجوع، والفقر، كأن المرء منهم يتتبع الخلل في كلمة أو ترجمة أو نقص بيت، فإن وجده فرح ايما فرح، وإجتهد في إيراز نقص المادة.

يبدو أن أغلبنا لا يطيق مظان الجمال، ويحمل في دواخله أمراض لا يرتاح منها حتى حين، إلا إذا عكر على الناس صفوهم، لذا كنا أدنى الشعوب تحضرا وثقافة وعلما وإنتاجا.

They all sing magnificently, but allow me this, the young lady at 5:15, she's really outstanding ! Her voice is exceptional, she sings in the authentic Andalusian style, rendering the whole subtlety of the music. Big up to the orchestra, thank you for this magical moment !

-at this point the poete stops describing what happened and says

It's like, the poete is remembering the scene and the happiness he felt when he saw his love is swaying.
"Hbe jamalo ftna"
"My love's beauty made us mad."
"Gothn thna hen mal"
"A branch of tree sways when my love sways."
The poete is comparing his love to a branch of tree when it sways, in other words he's describing the calm dance of his love.
"Aman aman aman aman"
"Wa'ady wa ya herte"
"My promise, my confusion "
The poete remembers some of his own problems.
"Mn le rhem shakwate"
"Is there anybody who can understand my complaint"
"Fe lhob mn lawa'ty"
Continuing previous line.
"Is there anybody can understand how much I'm tired and fell in love !?"
"Ila malek al jmal"
The poete answers his self saying that no one can understand his love except the one who loves !
"Aman aman aman aman"
"Aman aman amab aman"
The old Arabs denounce and admonish everyone who falls in love. It is not the one who falls in love but specifically the one who makes love a pain, as they blame a man who cried, if his wife or his lover left him.
Therefore, the poet was wondering about the existence of someone who would have mercy on him and understand the love and pain that he fell in.

I really feel happy and proud listening to people from all around the world trying to sing in my mother tongue Arabic, specially a hard piece like this. Everyone did an amazing job, big respect to all. Keeping the only native Arabic voice for last was great.
