    I have a BS in psychology and now thinking about getting my MSW but i always hear about the high stress & low pay in the human services it's so discouraging. Can you do a video talking about that & feeling confident going into it, making the best of your degree etc?

    Earning 3 bachelor degrees in Criminal Justice, Psychology and Business Management. 3 hit punch that dominates competition from all angles. Also, you have to "Hustle", which means work multiple jobs to stack the resume. Versatility is key. You have to be an ambitious beast.

    I definitely understand when you talked about if someone has 2 bachelors in a similar or like field. I actually was going to double major in American Sign Language and Sociology but it was toooo much plus time was everything especially for ASL. I definitely want to be certified in ASL and also pursue social work because I want to be more involved in the Deaf community!

    Good info! In Pennsylvania it's a little different so people make sure you understand what your state requirements are. In Pa you need to take a test to get your LSW before you even consider clinical hours for a LCSW. Also a lot of government jobs, hospitals, etc will allow you to have only a LSW to be hired. Insurance companies will reimburse for private practice with a LSW

    I’m glad I found you! I’ve been struggling with deciding between LCSW, MHC, Psych etc…and it’s very discouraging because I also recently had an “advisor” or whomever discourage me from pursuing a Doctorate claiming me wanting to be a therapist wouldn’t matter on the doctorate level and I still couldn’t practice. But I understand that certain doctorates are research based but still it’s like why say that. But anywho I’m glad I found your videos to get a better perspective of how I can decipher all these different paths.

    Hi! I am about to have my bachelor in psychology, with minor in political science. I want to be a social worker.. Is an MSW necessary? I don't have a 3.0 so I am having trouble finding MSW programs that would most likely accept me with my 2.6 :( My goal is to work for a nonprofit that helps foster children get adopted, such as Winshape Homes Foundation. Are there any jobs in the field with just a bachelor in psych, which I am about to have in a few months? Or is MSW really my only option?

    I love this video and hearing what you ended up doing after college. I recently graduated in may and at my agency in Philadelphia I am an Intake investigator through cys which is government funded. My starting salary is only 40,000 but I know people with a BSW that have been at my job for 10 years making over 6 figures with overtime. I think salary wise things are different depending on the area. BTW your hair looks gorgeous!

      definitely, I already have my B.A. in psychology and after was able to work in foster home/ facilities as a youth partner helping the children 0-18 with daily needs like a parent, with special needs, after school program lead.. the jobs are very few and don’t pay well for psych majors unless have a masters which is why I’m going for my masters in human services definitely wider range of jobs like foster homes/ non profits/ adoption agencies/ healthcare.. whereas with masters in psych would be more so just a therapist/ counselor

    This video was really helpful. Thanks for sharing! I have a general studies degree with 34 credits in social work and psychology. I was on my way to getting my BSW, part-time. but towards the end I hit a brick wall. I guess it wasn't the right time in my life. I am having a hard time getting a job because I don't have a degree in SW. But I do have experience within the field. I would like to go back for ny Masters degree someday, but I don't feel confident because I wasn't successful in my bachelors degree. Even though, deep down I know it was a difficult time in my life. Are there any books you recommend that I read to reducate myself with on my own, and prepare myself, so I will have the confidence I need to go by for my MSW?

    I graduated from Mercer University in 2016 with a BS in Social Science concentration on Mental Health and Substance Abuse. I was in the process of applying for jobs when my dad suffered a massive stroke and aneurysm which left him partially paralyzed and mentally disabled. I became his full-time caregiver in November 2017 and was laid-off my job in the process. With all that being said, does my Family Caregiver experience count as Social Work and Mental Health experience for Professional settings? I’m looking to apply for third shift positions or Adult Daycares where I can take dad with me. Thx for your expertise on this matter.

    • @PINKteeROSE
      @PINKteeROSE  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure you could use it as experience. However, it may be best to omit the family aspect of it. Example, if you had a homebased daycare watching friends and family children you would have day care experience. There is no need to indicate who the experience was with (relationship wise).

    I am currently a MSW I plan to take the Licensing Exam in a few months so I can become a LMSW. The job I am currently working at is a Mental Health Clinic. My goal is to become an LCSW which like you stated in your video you will have to complete the hours. If you are a LMSW you can make really good money but the only limitation is you cannot perform therapy on clients. I personally have a strong interest in working with individuals with a mental health diagnosis that’s why I plan to get my LCSW license.

    Hi,
    Where do you live in Virginia? I just moved here and I want to gain as much experience as possible to beef up my resume but I have no idea where to start. I would say that I'm working on the Micro side of social work in my internship because I'm working at a non-profit that helps families connect with the many foster children here in Virginia. I meet families face to face go over the procedures and we host events to gain awareness as well as match events where children and families come to an event and hopefully connect. Also, do you have a template that would be best as far as resumes? I'm literally 4 courses from graduating and i just started two of them so i really could use some help lol
