    This is something I have just discovered. Blown my mind the functionality and design Cranborne audio have put into these products. I've been worrying about what to get once my Allen and Heath zed16 is no longer able to work with my DAW. This is now sorted. In fact, I need to start moving towards this setup asap. Great vid BTW. I was looking for info on the CAST thing and this explains it totally. Which also blew my mind as the setup I have for tracking guitar in separate area of studio (garage!) Is ridiculously complicated 😂 love it. Thanks 👍

    I’ve used some 500 modules for a few years now. Mine definitely do add a pleasant sound to tracks and songs. That said, it does take extra effort and I don’t think analog necessarily means better. My advise to anyone taking the plunge is to buy modules in pairs (eg 2 of the same eq modules) for running stereo.

      Ohh I agree! I took the risk and bought the 500 R8. Before, I had the Dangerous D-Box and an Antelope Orion 32 converter. It was a brilliant sounding setup, but unfortunately the drivers were never updated in time. When I received my 500 R8, I could not believe how big it sounded. I got the functionality and big sound into one 4U rackspace. Just my opinion, I think the 500R8 sounds a bit better than the D-Box. The configuration possibilities are endless. And ZERO latency 👌🏾. Absolutely no regrets updating my studio with the 500R8 as the centerpiece.

    Quick question regarding the N22H - I want to use 19inch rack pre-amps (DMA 73's x8) then into my R8 500 series EQs then to laptop. I'm wondering how to integrate the N22Hs into my set-up. Do the N22H audio inputs act as a pre-amp? or how would the signal flow look?
    Many thanks. You guys seem to be on to something very game changing here...

    • @cranborneaudio
      @cranborneaudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there! Well that may be true with some systems, but that is not an issue with Cat 5 cabling in general. If you chop a Cat 5 cable in half, it looks the same as 4 TRS cables put together. It has 2 conductors and a shield, it's all copper and if you pass analogue audio through it, it sounds no different and does not measure any differently when using expensive measuring equipment, Again, we can't be sure of other systems, but this would not be the case with ours! Hope this helps! CA

So this year I am Also will invest on Mastering Grade Gears such as SSL Fusion or Thinking to Get Summing mixer. i know Lyra 2 isn't good choice for outboard gears But what about Using ADAT expansion because my Focusrite has one too Also both has worldclock . so if i EXpand my Lyra 2 ( master ) with focusrite ( Slave ) & connectiong outboard gears with my focusrite ? & keep my monitor speakers connected with the Lyra 2 to hear from Great DAs of Lyra .
    is it good choice ? i hope it will Bypass The CHeap AD/DA of focusrite and i only utilize the quality AD/DAs of Prism Lyra , Or i am going to hurt the quality of Lyra with such setup , sorry if this setup sounds stupid , actually just stepping in Analogue .
    i don't want to spend more on titan , becuase i want to buy outboard gear as well with it.
    ( also please don't suggest me get room treatment and great Pair Of Monitors first before going analogue , i have good room and good monitors , if i want to use analogue i just want to,thats how i will learn. lol

    I would argue if the ADAT format into cranborne 500 would make much sonical difference vs. converters from your audio interface going straight into 500 units. Its the # of round trips DA to AD that degrades the audio quality at the end of the day. With that being said, adat saves you the money spent on audio cables but the conversion that happens inside of cranborne unit is pretty much the same as it does happen in Apollo X. Try to make multiple conversion cycles trough Cranborne and I bet you your audio will degrade just like it would trough your Apollo unit.
