@@Anonymous_Anon882 Amen, she and Tameka Empson kicked the door open for so many Black Actresses on Eastenders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street.
@@laminage Kim.‘s hit-and-miss with me these-days (although admittedly she’s been properly-better lately) but there’s no denying Empson’s a talented actress (I’ve seen her on other stuff). When she’s actually given something half-serious to do she’s pretty consistent in her delivery.
Yes but don't forget Diane Parish aka Denise. They are to the British on Soaps what Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan were as Angie & Jesse on All My Children that they played on and off from 1983 until they cancelled the show in 2011.
@@MarthaMansbridgeWhen Soaps started out in the 1960's there were no people of color like in The US. He was a proud hardworking black man, and although he wasn't there for his kids, he did his best to make up for it in future years. He also didn't take any crap from Phil Mitchell and didn't back down like alot of folks did.
Rudy not only plays Patrick but he is actively involved in all the storylines that feature Patrick and has a huge say about everything revolving around Patrick. It is well known fact that his numerous solo Patrick scenes were not scripted at all and that he had total freedom to do whatever he felt was right while just being given a general guidelines to what the scene would be revolving around.
Yes, in The US alot of Black Actors Won. For Talk Show, Actor, Young Actor, and Guest Starring Role. I told them about The UK and how Eastenders continuously employs Black Actors.
In his own way Patrick Trueman was quite a positive role model. He may not have been there for his Kids growing up but he did try to make up for lost time and like that James Brown Song "Papa Don't Take No Mess!"
There is famous rumor that scene in which he and Phil confront each other over Ben almost got cut as producers weren't sure how public would react to the scene, especially potentially seeing Phil as a racist. However, Rudy insisted that the scene has to stay in and even convinced Steve McFadden to lobby for the scene to stay in. They did the right thing.
I just had a Lightbulb Moment. I'm sure that many of the Black Actors on other UK Soaps are probably thinking "Because Of You, I Have A Job, & I Can Turn My Dream Into A Reality, You Kicked The Door Open For So Many Of Us."
Oh you're right about that. My Bad! I live in Canada and we didn't get it here only Coronation St. (which is still on the Air) we used to get Emmerdale but not know and we used to get Old School Episodes of Eastenders. You also made me remember that although Billy Dee Williams was among some of the first Black Soap Actors on US Soaps (Guiding Light) people remember Darnell Williams who played Jesse Hubbard on All My Children on and off from 1983-2011 until the Show got cancelled.
In April they will be doing a tribute to Kristoff St. John (Ex-Neil Winters) on The Young & The Restless from 1991-2019 who was the Show's Longest running Black Actor. Only James Reynolds who played Abe Carver on Days Of Our Lives beginning in 1981 was on a Soap as Long as Kristoff although they played Father/Son on Generations which was the first and only Integrated Soap Opera on US TV from 1989-1991. In his own way Kristoff continued where Billy Dee Williams (Ex-Jim Frazier Guiding Light 1965) and British Born Darnell Williams (Jesse Hubbard All My Children) which he played on and off from 1983-2011.
Patrick is simply put on screen version of Rudy Walker. Alot of Patrick's background is actually based on Rudy's real life. That is what made it all so convincing and amazing. The simply played himself for all those years.
Pat Butcher would have been a Riot on The Young & The Restless hanging out with Mrs. Chancellor. I can see Patrick holding his own with Victor Newman. He'd scare Victor.
Pat & Patrick together together was the Pre Friends With Benefits. In The US it could have been Jill and Malcolm on Y & R. That would have been "Deep Shock".
I said this on another Channel but if it were up to me Eastenders would be given Best Foreign Soap by The NAACP in America which is the longest running Civil Rights Organizational Group for African Americans. It has done a superb job for continuously employing Black Actors/Actresses. Coronation Street can't say that about themselves. When Patrick was listening to The Horse Races it reminded me of The Web Movie The Grove where Robert S Woods who plays Doyle Monahan is addicted to Betting and loses The Family Bar and Garage to his Friend Paddy Kinkaid. He can't even admit this to his Daughter Nico who just married her girlfriend Ivy. Also it should be Diane Parish who in her own way kicked the door open for so many Black Actresses on Soaps. It would be so cool if Tonya Lee Williams (Ex-Olivia) The Young & The Restless gave it to her.
Don't know because it by UN no worries TV had to get bunk excluder TV Hu you ghj to nu if possible on a Sunday afternoon unless it works with me Christmas
Diane Parish is so proud of him! ☺️
She deserves an award of her own. Talk about long-overdue.

The man who, when he arrived on EastEnders, not only broke down all the racial barriers, but he shattered them to pieces.

Can you explain what racial barriers he broke down?? I mean - be specific….

Baroness Benjamin should come to the US and give an award to Idris Elba at The NAACP Awards. She's so classy.

Love Thy Neighbour was brilliant.
Yes and Reverend Michael Curry of the US pretty much said the "Same" thing when Megan & Harry got married last month.
Worst comedy on British Television.
In The US Mishael Morgan won by being the First Caribbean Born actress to win Outstanding Lead Actress as amanda on The Young & The Restless.
Diane Parish should get it this year or David Nielsen (Roy Cropper) Coronation Street.
And he's Trini🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Yep. My Ex is Trini, and their Ladies are so stuning.

Her hair looks like a brush either that or she's had an electric shock
It's a sad state of affairs when a group of people convince themselves that they really are actors and stars
what does that even mean? when people who act for a living convince themselves they are actors? you sound moronic pat.
Fuck off you sad bitch and get a life
Jealous
