Hmm if there'd be something to save the inquisitor it would definately be reinforcements. An Assassin could be a strong bet. Not a Vindicare however since they allready have a sniper.

The corruption, that is. No, rather it dawned on me that this was the true color of the traitor marine's armor without the chaotic enhancement of the paint's make. The heretic's grip on my shoulder fell slack, and the other baroque giants reacted with - was that horror? I escaped ungracefully as the odious astartes collapsed, and saw now the cause of this puzzling development. In the shadows lurked a foul creature, nominally human in shape but grotesque in its very existence. A single metal eye dominated one side of its skull-like face, large enough to eclipse the cranium entirely were it not ostricized to where ear should have been. I watched it intently as I withdrew, searching with my hands for a weapon to slay this menace. The remaining noise-marines likewise shifted in reaction to this new foe, ignoring the hostage-marine as it fell headless to the floor. "Don't shoot him.", the inquisitor calmly directed, halting me as I attempted to aim one of the twin's pistols with my remaining eye." Alternately: "WRYYYY!"
TFO Honestly, we can't let the boy die! He has so much potential and I would love to see him augmented by cybernetics. That being said, it would make total sense for Noise Marines to murder the boy just to see the Inquisitor's face when that happens.
TFO. The Inquisitor still has one trump card to play. The one member of his entourage that had not made their presence known yet, whose service was purchased a couple of videos ago - The Solitaire.
Noise marines are servents of the prince of excess so the solitaire getting into grips with them would be expected. But the debts were forgiven on the other story, so what can Thaddeus give or promise to the solitare?
@@320466 the debts are forgiven, but Aeldari see things differently - if it serves the laughing god, and to a lesser extent the welfare of the Aeldari as a whole, the solitaire will stay there, but the eventual goal might be to ensure that the group dies in the right place to kick another chain of events into motion. And Thaddeus will know this - he'll welcome the solitaire's help, but now with no leverage there's no way in the warp he'll trust them.
Thaddeus strikes me as a sort of Hannibal from the A-Team kinda guy. I could see him prepared. Tango Foxtrot Oscar. On a side note, you write combat way too well. I served two tours in Iraq, man. Those deaths hit way too close to home. I seriously felt that. Also, don't stop doing what you're doing.

TFO I cannot suspend my disbelief enough to accept noisemarines bargaining for one of their "comrades". Vengeful noisemarines would be the go-to, grimdark continuation that makes the most sense, but Boy is my point-of-view character and i want him to keep being that.

Only the least gifted of them are still able to communicate with non-Kakophoni at a non-lethal volume. The way they perceive the universe is also so profoundly warped that they come across as quite insane and barely comprehensible to anyone not touched by the Dark Prince.

Always liked the idea of using an Inquisitors/Rouge Traders Entourage to contain some of the lost and forgotten members of the 40K Lore (Like good Baldermort and his Sensei). I've said this before I know, some day I'll have to get it written, although I'm no match for our Faithful Servants work.

TFO: Thaddeus Pulls a Fast One. . ... only not quite. If you're presented with three options, *take 'em all!* The Noise Marines might have forced a negotiation, but both are planning a double-cross. The Noise Marines have already written off their battle-brother, and are looking to off Barbie as soon as they get an opening -- what is it with Slaaneshis and openings? Stil,l they're not done having fun with these lackeys of the corpse-emperor yet! But Thaddeus knows that, and he's going to make an opening of his own. Of course, there's going to be more life-changing injuries to go round. Thaddeus might not throw lives away, but but even he has to acknowledge the bottom line now and again. Bottom line is victory. Bonus is getting his remaining entourage out alive and in one piece -- well, few enough pieces that they can be duct-taped back together, anyway.
NMV I feel that this is most appropriate for noise marines dealing in a hive especially in so few numbers these bastards were particularly sadistic emperors children

NMN I think the noise marines would negotiate if not for their comrades life but maybe his geneseed, though I feel the negotiation would not go well as the Arbites are going to bust in without knocking so you could probably hit all three scenarios with the Inquisitor using a trick up his sleeve and a vengeful noise marine (who may or may not escape) on a crusade of vengeance.
NMV. Period. Let violence run the thorny vines of tentacled embrace through the foundations of hope such that the Song of Slaanesh is heard as far as the deep of The Rock or Underprison of Terra.
NMN. Holy moly, what a story. I want the boy to survive, but a story as well written as this one deserves a way better ending than a (literal) ass-pull trick out of a 70s comic book. Was wondering how'd you'd explain them actually being able to handle multiple noise Marines -- and you didn't disappoint! Barbonne's almost over-the-top abilities become fantastically believable when demonstrated in that incredible combat scene, and somehow even with 'literal-plot armor shields' you still made both the Noise Marines and the Inquisitorial team really badass on their own merits. Really invested in the characters after that introduction too, and in their fates -- why the whole knife thing with Ursula? How can the boy survive with a blade in his neck?? Incredible, sir. Just incredible.
TFO Not going to lie, tfo at a glance dosent look feesable until you take into account the myriad of other factors in play. Factor 1, as you said, maybe the noise marines want to negotiate and Thadius was counting on it to buy time. Factor 2, depending on the weapon our friend out the window has, walls might not be a saving grace for the Noise Marines. Factor 3, and I've seen this once or twice already, there is a solitaire out there who may want an Inquisitor indebted to him now. And Factor 4, time since the noise marines stoped blasting the arbites and started focusing on our boys in the room. Worst come to worst, the boy can still die a heroic martyr and the praise of the emperor on his lips if he happens to have a grenade or five. Grand story telling btw. Thank you for your amazing work.
TFO Thaddeus says a single word in high gothic, and that's when it is revealed that the boy is actually a stealth arco-flagellant, and the surprise attack of this activation let's him go full hellraiser on the noisemarines. He probably won't survive, but such sacrifice is the emperor's coin, and right now the exchange rate is harsh. Although in general I'd like the boy to survive, he's curiously grounded despite everything happening to him.
TFO -Thadus Pulls a Fast One The Fast Ones are/and have been outside the front doors the whole time. The Adeptus Arbites, by the amount of time the fight took Astra Militarum may not be far away also. None the less I believe for a hive world and the kinds of police that have been helping the group this entire time there can easily be a 2nd, 3rd and hundreds of outcome Thadus would have anticipated including the deaths of all his team where he would live but the heretics would be dealt with.
The Arbites are useless except as a distraction, and Astartes are notoriously hard to distract. Also, an Inquisitor's retinue generally has members much more valuable than any given engagement. Babar and his apprentice, for example, are much more valuable than this engagement. Possibly the field equipment generating the field, since psykers are annoyingly hard to replace. The Noise Marines here aren't even their objective. They're a distraction the Inquisitor decided needed to be resolved first.
NMN. I think NMV would be more believable and true to the lore. But I just don't want him to die and wonder how he'll end up. I really love the story you've given us here. Keep up the good work and thank you!
NMV I can't for the life of me imagine the Noise Marines of all of the traitors astartes to give half a nurgling's crap about the wellbeing of their comrades. And a human, Inquisitor or not, being faster than a chosen warrior of Slaanesh is too much for my suspension of disbelief.
TFO I vote this way, dear brother, because I quite enjoy the POV of the boy as narrator; yet I do not see the servants of Slaanesh doing anything but allowing the pain of losing a brother to wash over them in agonizing ecstasy. A wonderful narrative as always brother- it is because of you that I have begun writing daily again.
NMN I'm a simple man, I see Baldermort and I upvote. How wonderful it is, though, that 40K transforms even the simplest sci-fi tropes. Take a personal forcefield generator, a staple of many franchises from Mass Effect to Dune, and it ceases to be a sterile piece of technology but a magical talisman, a thing of wonder, its inner workings a mystery of the inner temple of a foreign faith. Such richness and texture the setting adds to even the most innocuous elements.
TFO For even if i think the Inquisitor is at some point far to overconfident he still DO'S care for his retinue and the boy is a surely important part of it ... plus ... i like seeing Space Marines at times humiliated by the 'normal' Humans hehehe

Picking up a few things, though.
Always liked the idea of using an Inquisitors/Rouge Traders Entourage to contain some of the lost and forgotten members of the 40K Lore (Like good Baldermort and his Sensei).
I've said this before I know, some day I'll have to get it written, although I'm no match for our Faithful Servants work.
Is there anything baldy cant do ? This mr. Puts out a class lore, habitually and at great pace. Amazing. Well done as always.

Well, we get a lot of that sort of emotionless stoicism in most videos. I thought we would have soem light to contrast the darkness. ... only not quite. If you're presented with three options, *take 'em all!* The Noise Marines might have forced a negotiation, but both are planning a double-cross. The Noise Marines have already written off their battle-brother, and are looking to off Barbie as soon as they get an opening -- what is it with Slaaneshis and openings? Stil,l they're not done having fun with these lackeys of the corpse-emperor yet!
But Thaddeus knows that, and he's going to make an opening of his own. Of course, there's going to be more life-changing injuries to go round. Thaddeus might not throw lives away, but but even he has to acknowledge the bottom line now and again. Bottom line is victory. Bonus is getting his remaining entourage out alive and in one piece -- well, few enough pieces that they can be duct-taped back together, anyway.
NMV. The price of failing the mission too high, the gene seed lost too precious. There's no escape.

NMN I think the noise marines would negotiate if not for their comrades life but maybe his geneseed, though I feel the negotiation would not go well as the Arbites are going to bust in without knocking so you could probably hit all three scenarios with the Inquisitor using a trick up his sleeve and a vengeful noise marine (who may or may not escape) on a crusade of vengeance.

NMN. Holy moly, what a story. I want the boy to survive, but a story as well written as this one deserves a way better ending than a (literal) ass-pull trick out of a 70s comic book. Was wondering how'd you'd explain them actually being able to handle multiple noise Marines -- and you didn't disappoint! Barbonne's almost over-the-top abilities become fantastically believable when demonstrated in that incredible combat scene, and somehow even with 'literal-plot armor shields' you still made both the Noise Marines and the Inquisitorial team really badass on their own merits. Really invested in the characters after that introduction too, and in their fates -- why the whole knife thing with Ursula? How can the boy survive with a blade in his neck?? Incredible, sir. Just incredible.

Not going to lie, tfo at a glance dosent look feesable until you take into account the myriad of other factors in play.
Factor 1, as you said, maybe the noise marines want to negotiate and Thadius was counting on it to buy time.
Factor 2, depending on the weapon our friend out the window has, walls might not be a saving grace for the Noise Marines.
Factor 3, and I've seen this once or twice already, there is a solitaire out there who may want an Inquisitor indebted to him now.
And Factor 4, time since the noise marines stoped blasting the arbites and started focusing on our boys in the room.
Worst come to worst, the boy can still die a heroic martyr and the praise of the emperor on his lips if he happens to have a grenade or five.
Grand story telling btw. Thank you for your amazing work.

Thaddeus says a single word in high gothic, and that's when it is revealed that the boy is actually a stealth arco-flagellant, and the surprise attack of this activation let's him go full hellraiser on the noisemarines. He probably won't survive, but such sacrifice is the emperor's coin, and right now the exchange rate is harsh.
Although in general I'd like the boy to survive, he's curiously grounded despite everything happening to him.

The Fast Ones are/and have been outside the front doors the whole time. The Adeptus Arbites, by the amount of time the fight took Astra Militarum may not be far away also. None the less I believe for a hive world and the kinds of police that have been helping the group this entire time there can easily be a 2nd, 3rd and hundreds of outcome Thadus would have anticipated including the deaths of all his team where he would live but the heretics would be dealt with.
The Arbites are useless except as a distraction, and Astartes are notoriously hard to distract.
Also, an Inquisitor's retinue generally has members much more valuable than any given engagement. Babar and his apprentice, for example, are much more valuable than this engagement. Possibly the field equipment generating the field, since psykers are annoyingly hard to replace.
The Noise Marines here aren't even their objective. They're a distraction the Inquisitor decided needed to be resolved first.

I think NMV would be more believable and true to the lore. But I just don't want him to die and wonder how he'll end up. I really love the story you've given us here. Keep up the good work and thank you!

I can't for the life of me imagine the Noise Marines of all of the traitors astartes to give half a nurgling's crap about the wellbeing of their comrades. And a human, Inquisitor or not, being faster than a chosen warrior of Slaanesh is too much for my suspension of disbelief.

I vote this way, dear brother, because I quite enjoy the POV of the boy as narrator; yet I do not see the servants of Slaanesh doing anything but allowing the pain of losing a brother to wash over them in agonizing ecstasy. I'm a simple man, I see Baldermort and I upvote.
How wonderful it is, though, that 40K transforms even the simplest sci-fi tropes. Take a personal forcefield generator, a staple of many franchises from Mass Effect to Dune, and it ceases to be a sterile piece of technology but a magical talisman, a thing of wonder, its inner workings a mystery of the inner temple of a foreign faith. Such richness and texture the setting adds to even the most innocuous elements.
