  • Shopping cart wheels are made from the same material as roller coaster wheels. Every cart must be tough enough to haul groceries for a decade. At a cost of $100 each, shop owners are keen to keep these rugged buggies on the job. Meet the hidden device that helps keep them out of the hands of thieves and close to home.

      Yes it is due to our sinful nature, that's why we have thieves.
      to anyone who has stolen, you have sinned, but you can be forgiven by God
      but even if we don't steal we still have that nature (we do small sins everyday) and God's standards are so high that if you sin you are on hell's (hell is a horrible place) trajectory
      God sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins and anyone who trusts that Jesus is what saves (he will change your trajectory to eternal life with him in heaven (an awesome place, that we can't begin to imagine)) Praise God
      so yes there is hope for us, I just hope the Holy Spirit has his hands on your shoulder when you read this (because our sinful nature will cause unbelief)
      I pray that people who read this get saved.

    I was visiting family out of town and came across one of these. That wheel sensor tripped before I got to my car, so I drug the cart from the front the rest of the way to my car, heavily scuffing up the bottom of the locked wheel in the process, and left it there.

      Lol. Seven years later and these carts are still terrible and not as high-tech as this video would have you believe. The Meijers in Northern Indiana have them and the lock feature goes off before you even exit the store. 😑 Then, an employee walks over as if you have stolen something. After they review your receipt with other shoppers staring at you, you get to awkwardly carry too many groceries to your car.

    as a shopping cart tech, there is one major flaw in this vid. The reason behind the locking wheel is to prevent theft of groceries, not the cart. You need a tilt bar in the back opposite side of the locking wheel. That way one can not just tilt the cart back on the rear two wheels and walk out...

    • @dougwristen2228
      @dougwristen2228 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      i managed a business called the buggyman , people don't realize just what kind of maintenance is done at night on these carts , everything from changing wheels to welding , pressure washing. but adding these devices could mean problems , like the static electric charges people at costco stores are complaining about . i don't know about you , but the carts i maintained weren't zapping people because they were just regular wheels , i think the electronic wheels are the problem. never had any static electricity charges handling carts before. i guess the idea of pay carts failed due to the cheap chains attached , theives can just cut these in a flash. if a customner has a pacemaker for health reasons , these electrically charged carts , could put the customers health at risk. i love it when these tech geeks come up with not very well thought out advances in tecnology. there are complaints in abbotsford british columbia of costco carts giving customer shocks thru these carts. maybe if these gouging grocery stores weren't so cheap , they could hire security to stop all the cart thefts at night and during the day , most of these carts are all loaded up and pushed around by the homeless then abandoned when they have no need for them.

    I worked as a manager at a retail store, and the biggest issue came about due to the locking mechanism. A customer was running with his shopping cart while his daughter was in it. He was "just having fun" with his daughter. So he began doing that thing where you push the cart really hard forward away from you, run towards it, and push again. He did that over the yellow line. So as she crossed the yellow line, with him far behind her, the front wheel locked and the whole cart flipped forward, with his daughter inside.
    The yellow line was just repainted, so the guy knew it was there, plus, the shopping carts all have a sign warning of the locking mechanism.
    Now, I completely agree the guy is an idiot. Or he deliberately did it... I have seen on camera, parents pushing their kids into a shelf and try to blame the store and get $ out of it. Iv'e seen many things in retail.
    But, I still think that there should be an improvement to prevent something like this to happen. Even if it rare.
    Why can't they lock the back wheels as oppose to the front? The cart wouldn't have flipped forward in that instance. And, when those front wheels are locked, people would just lift the cart off its front wheels and push it like that. In a wheelie fashion

    • @CarlWong5
      @CarlWong5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is an option to lock the diagonal front wheel also. You can lift the cart off the front wheels but this prevents people from moving that cart a long distance.

      lmfao so angry about the locked wheel, that's how I feel about coin carts when I don't have a quarter. It depends what they're stealing the cart for, people who are trying to use it to bring groceries home would give up and ditch the cart closer to the store. If they're stealing it for scrap metal then there's no defense. Also I've never experienced a locked wheel because of the mechanism, they get screwed up in all kinds of ways, and I just ditch it immediately if its broken. Any business that uses coin carts hates its customers.

    while these devices may help stores from carts being stolen , it could explain why customers are getting static electricity shocks from carts at COSTCO AND OTHER STORES. as someone who used to service and clean shopping carts for different grocery store chains , i have to wonder if they are still being cleaned with pressure washers , or since covid arrived , if the stores came up with a different method for fast cleaning of carts and killing germs. it might just be that these anti theft devices attached to the wheels , are the culporits of creating static electricity through the carts , and zapping the customers ? they quite probably created this static electricity charge by installing these anti theft devices on the wheels , that customers were not aware of . it would not happen all by itself . the carts i cleaned and maintained with regular wheels certainly did not zap the coustomers , sometimes technology shouldn't be used on some things , like shopping carts , it's a good way to lose your customers , and maybe interfere with such health devices like pacemakers , being a danger to ones health.

    Pick part of it up over the locked wheel and replace the wheel when you get home? I used carts with one useless wheel that didn't turn before, only slowed me down slightly. And by shop perimeter, do they mean the edge of the paring lot? The cart would already be in the truck by then.

    I can still push a shopping cart with one wheel skidding along any day

    Random, defies common sense- I had never seen anyone place unbagged lettuce directly in the basket before. I had to re-watch it. Either this is his first time shopping or is oblivious to germs

    I had to once hack the anti theft device and adjust the parking lot perimeters. No time or energy for toxic people that like to shop at certain retailers

    What a shame. It's always the black wheel that gets locked up.

    I live in an apartment complex and there's a shopping center behind it. The complex has a rear entrance, and they just put up a metal pole so you can't bring a cart in through the gate. Great idea.

    you can literally just lift the front wheels over those wires to get it past, or a lot of stores only put the wire under concrete so take it over a bit of grass

    so when there's not enough parking spots in the lot due to coronavirus panic and you parked outside just to have a cart with 100lbs of food in it stop working. good shit.

    So the moral of the story, dont ride in the basket or if it hits the wire, you will become Peter Pan for a second and Willey Coyote for the landing.

    There apparently used to be a stop & shop near where i work, because one of their carts remained near our store for a long time. It could never be used since it had something similar to this in one of the wheels, and the customer using it must've been too stubborn to stop using it, and/or put it back when the wheel locked.

    Let's fill up our shopping carts with the things we need
    And just roll out the front door
    Past the cashiers and security guards
    But the magnets trip the wheel locks
    Before we even clear the parking lot
    And take off running through the neighbor's yard

    You can see the sensor line.and when you get close to that sensor line, just lift the front of the cart till its cross the sensor line.
