In my humble opinion, it makes more sense to get a base Carrera or a T. Now that they’re all turbo charged, a simple stage 1 tune will save you LOADS of money. If you’re brave enough for stage 2 and beyond you’ll be reaching and surpassing Turbo S numbers. That’s exactly what I did with my Carrera T and it is funny to see the reaction of others who think I’m driving the “slow” 911.
Be careful with the tunes. I had one on my GTI from a respectable shop. Blew the engine after a year, voided my warranty, had to buy a replacement engine. The added HP was fun, but not worth it in the end.
Carerra T faster than a turbo S on a stage 2...... 🐄 💩 what you DEFINITELY get, is the ability to have little in the way of choices for interior colors for seats and trim, as well as choice of pts colors
I too have a 991.2 C4S bought new in 2018 w/Sports exhaust, Rear Wheel Steering & the Chrono sports package & really can't imagine a better ride. Fast, precise, so much fun to drive even if it's only to the grocery store but on an open highway, it's sublime. Gripping the road at high speeds is very reassuring. Stops on a dime. Pretty bulletproof too. It's all you really need as far as speed goes as anything any faster is just overkill. I drove the windowmaker back in the eighties & this is faster & safer. Can't get much better than that for a resume.
The perfect 911 is the one that you need, not the one that you want. We have the luxury to choose from so many variants and can select so many options, that it is tempting to keep upselling yourself into the wrong car.I bought the version that corresponded with how and where I do most of my driving and was not disappointed.
What a beautiful spec! 😍 For me, getting this 911 Carrera 4S is like having a Turbo S but more affordable... I mean, it may not be as powerful but nonetheless just as special if you ask me. Of course, that aluminum strip on windows is a great addition which for me accentuates the contour of a 911. ❤
Great video! I'm getting ready to get my first 911 after both of my M cars sell. I've owned a Macan S and 981 Cayman S prior. I drove a 992 base about a year ago and was blown away. I had driven a 991.2 base and 997s prior and they were nice but the 992 really did it for me 😊 I think a 992S will be my sweet spot!
To me, the perfect 911 is naturally aspirated, rear wheel drive, and manual. This = GT3 touring or S/T if you’re lucky enough and rich enough to get one.
When I had the opportunity to drive a 992.1 series for the first time, it was a Carrera 4S. It was at my disposal in mid October 2021 for about 3 hours and I drove it mainly on mountainous twisties near where I live. I hadn’t driven a 911 since my 997 4GTS, and was both impressed (the general excellency of this new car) and shocked by its size compared to a 997. Anyway, I just said to myself, As usual the Porsche guys know what they are doing. Long story short, for reasons which I won’t get into now, I ended up ordering a 992.1 4GTS which I currently drive and find absolutely awesome. In some respects it is too powerful for road use in as much as one is not allowed to drive at whatever speeds one wishes. Which joins your point : a Carrera S or 4S is all you need. But then there are those who say a base Carrera is all you need (a Carrera T with the 6 speed manual being the best choice of them all). So, whichever 911 you choose, as long as it’s in sound condition, you simply can’t go wrong !😎

I’ve always thought the 911 sweet spot is The Carrera 4s. I live in the Northeast and it provides the best of all worlds until the GTS 4. The past 2 generations have just blown the price point way over my originally priced $124k max price point. It’s still a 911 any day for me though. I concur 👍🏽
I will say I ran a 992s against a 992 4s at the LA Porsche track. I could not quite keep up with the 4s accelerating out of a turn down the straight. Instructor commented that was because the 4s had a traction advantage as we accelerated hard on the straight.
I think I might agree with you. I had a long term drive of a .1 S with only pasm chassis option, and the balance between ride, steering, power, sound was perfect. I am waiting for reveal of the .2 S and finding it hard to decide if I should go an S or keep waiting for that elusive .2 gt3t allocation lottery
The perfect 911 costs 40% less, has 60% of its parts and is made on the same assembly line to the same quality standard. It weighs less, costs less to insure and own and handles better with better steering and lower polar moment of inertia. It’s the same design as race cars being mid engined. It’s the Boxster/Cayman
I have a 2024 C2S with a manual transmission in Carmine Red and sport exhaust and rear wheel steering. Now that is perfect in my opinion. I really don’t think you will get any consensus on your choice of perfection. While the C4S is good. It feels a bit too planted and heavy for me. Everyone has their own opinion on what is perfect in a Porsche. But great video nonetheless. Thanks. I love watching your videos.
Thanks brother. I think i will have to do the "Rear wheel vs all wheel drive" comparison at PECLA to see if I can feel a difference in weight in a track setting, because driving both cars back to back on the street the 4S felt just as light as the 2S. Pulling hard out of corners was where I felt the computers determining where to apply power. Very impressive.
Thank you Mike for your insights on the 4S. I have always wondered how it compares to the S. One day I plan to do the S vs. 4S track day at PECLA. I have always liked how old all wheel drive Audis would pull you around corners.
fellow 992 owner here. I see you have that "squeak" sound when opening the door 0:08 too not just myself. Been wondering whether there's an issue with the doors 😢
GTS might have been nice before it was hybrid. But all modern 911's ae too big and heavy for my tastes. Though I currently have the 992 GT3 Touring. 🤙🏽
Perfect? Not quite in my experience but then maybe because when i drove a similar example, i found it vastly capable on canyon roads that far exceeded my own skills. So effectively in order to derive pleasure driving/pushing the car i had to go at silly speeds often way above the speed limits or my abilities to drive. So as the saying goes, driving a slow car fast is often vastly more fun than driving a fast car slow, i would look at the Carrera T or a base Carrera. Not that either of those are “slow” either
I agree with you that the cars are getting too big, but nothing they can do about government safety regulations. for what they have to work with, the 992s still feel like an extension of your body. We just got in a 997.1. Ill take it for a spin.

What power is yours running at now ?
oh way cool! What does stage 2 give it?

992.1 Porsche Turbo S is absolute heaven
It is awesome! It’s just too fast for the road. 1st,2nd and you’re done(unless you like jail) at least in a T or an S you can get into 3rd. 👊🏼🥴

911 Carrera T?
Yes, but I would put the S/T in the same group as a McLaren F1 as far as driving experiences go. Dream cars.
@@markg1531still turbocharged. Not NA.
@@Silverscooby27 I didn't know. Thanks.

Knowing how Porsche centers roll, I would get a .2 S allocation, and use it as an a carrot to try to get a GT3 spot.

There is no such a thing as perfect 911 that’s why there are so many variations to suit the end users’ tastes. My humble opinion btw.

Yes! I want to do that comparison as well. Isnt that "pull" fun?
Shouldn’t the ideal Porsche be a manual? And why the 4? I would go for a T or a GT3 Touring.
I used to feel the same, however after driving several 4s, I love how sure footed they are without the crazy speed of a Turbo/S.
Every single one has been worth the money.

I havnt noticed it before. Ill have to go check.

The perfect 911 equals the one currently parked in one’s garage. In my case that equals a manual 997.2 C2 and a manual 992.1 C2S.
Touché. 👍🏼
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
Is it equiped with the sport exhaust?
Yes!
@mikerusznak sounds amazing. Hoping to get my first Porsche in 2025, thinking about 4 or 4s not sure yet. Great video 🙌
Searching for "that perfect" Blueberry Muffin. Makes you feel that you have done something?
it would be kinda fun..overpriced?
The perfect Porsche is the 992.2 911 GTS. 541 brake HP and fabulous extras like rear wheel steering and no turbo lag.
I will let you know as soon as one comes in. I am excited to experience the starter.
Possibly? Until Porsche brings out ANOTHER facelift upgrade…. Stunning though!

Carrera T is a lot of fun. Manual too.
Carrera S not 4s
👍
i'd much prefer a manual transmission.
I love manuals
An automatic with a computer that controls everything is not driving.
It was so much fun. Just different fun.
too big, too heavy and no manual transmission. The perfect 911 was probably the 997 generation GT3s
The 4S was available with a manual, but yeah they are getting big. Thanks NHTSA.
Any 911 other than a targa! The targa is the ugliest version.
Interesting.
I think the Targa is a good looking open top car. 👍🏼
the perfect Porsche 911 is a 997.2 any model.
Since then, the 911 is a bloated whale.
