Tocak, means wheel in english, is prolific guitar player that Clapton in one interview mentioned as one of the best guitar players he ever herd. Tocak (Radomir Mihalovic) incorporated various musical styles, such as blues, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, jazz rock, and the ethnic music from the region. Mihailović's unique virtuous style of playing is a big part of the band's sound. He plays the electric guitar with fingers, rather than with a pick. I had a chance to see Smak couple of times in belgrade and they were incredible musicians ...
Fortunately for me, I attended this phenomenal concert at the SKC in Belgrade. Guitarist Radomir Mihajlović - Točak is one of the world's greatest guitar artists, as can be seen from the attached file. He is a virtuoso whose guitar playing has a unique sound.
If you want something with more soul, listen to the performance of Radomir Mihajlović (group Smak or group Točak), the song is called "Ukor" (Blame), "Zajdi-zajdi" or "Where are my baby, where are my food..." (same song), was used in the Serbian movie "Vizantijsko plavo" ("Byzantium blue")... 👍
Smak was the best Yugoslavian, although from central Serbia, rock band in late 70's and 80s. Half way to end of 90's all kinds of hells broke lose, and rock already became music for "old people", and heavy metal was kicking in. But these guys survived, because, if different production and some effects on more modern gear, like you said, could bring the tunes to levels of Def Leppard or DL Roth, etc... They are still exist as Smak in 2023, remembered well, and not so long ago they could still gather a decent crowd for a concert for "oldies". But I wanted to comment on this specific video. First - it was insanely hard to get a hold of ANY electric guitar back then. There were no decent music gear stores until 80s, and everything was imported. And while importing, you pay more than gear is worth for + you have to explain yourself why you need it. Could take months for clearance and you had to have money. My first electric guitar was made out of acoustic one, with magnets and electronics done myself, and connected to Hi-Fi stub. Myself, and probably Tocak too, learned to play guitar with fingers, there simply wasn't a place you could buy picks. Sometimes, we made them out of sour milk bottles, as they had hard enough plastic packing. Only later in 80s Slovenes started manufacturing electric guitars, and was like no-brand generic stuff, made by a furniture company, that your parents needed to get credit to buy it. And these Smak guys were diametrically on other part of Yugoslavia, in south Serbia, and didn't play on no-brand kid's stuff. So respect to them for enormous effort and dedication to create music as it is remembered and making an icon of themselves in Serbian music world.
As I can see, there's no end of comments about "Smak" and Radomir MihajlovićTočak, from everywhere. I am not surprised. They were and still are fantastic band, one of the best, not only in former Yugoslavia but in the world. RMT is a "magician" on the guitar. One of my all time favourite bands. Their version of the Macedonian folk song "Zajdi zajdi" (which all fans of rock music should listen to) is still my ringtone on the phone. Yes, Yugoslavia had many great rock bands, same as the other countries in Europe (Italy, Hungary, Finland, Norway, Germany, Greece, France, Nederland, Sweden...) but they were popular mostly in their own countries, some of them in the region. For them, the problem was language, but not only the language. Just few of them had successful careers in the whole world. They are becoming popular now, when many of them are not among the living. "Smak" should be listed as a gem of rock music in all rock encyclopedias. Period.
@@mladen5016 Yugoslavia was called a "prison of nations" by the Croats who were committing terrorist acts and murdering "Yugoslavs" - actually Serbs - in the name of Croatian independence. Tito didn't think it would last after his death and didn't care - that is what he told American journalists in the early 1970s. I read this in a pages long entry about Yugoslavia in a Funk and Wagnalls encyclopedia from those years, and it became clear that "Yugoslavia" was only meant to be temporary while the USSR was strong and the west couldn't meddle more directly. The communists made changes in the constitution in 1974 and started increasing the strength of the TO (territorial defense) in the republics to help prepare for it breaking up. They only cared to enrich themselves and suppress Serbia while they prepared for the other ethnic to eventually break it apart at Serbs' expense.
@@mladen5016 There was no loyalty in "Yugoslavia" as you had peoples that hated each other - on the opposite sides in WWI and WWII - who were put together in one country. Every time a foreign country had the power to meddle and back separatists, they would turn to proxies for these foreign invaders. Croats, Bosnian Muslims and Albanians were on the Axis powers' side in WWI and they were on the Nazi's side in WWII. They were proxies of U.S./German/UK engineered break up of Yugoslavia along old fault lines, but thanks to preparations by the communist, things were already in place for this. I see the overarching view and those who ignored what key NATO countries had long wanted - for decades before the 90s war - and that post WWII Yugoslavia was only meant to be temporary (especially to put Serbs on ice so they couldn't come out on the winning side and be free, which was why Churchill and Brits backed Tito and lied for him - gave him all kinds of false credit for fighting the Germans when he couldn't fight a single frontal battle) while the USSR was strong and they had to worry about that - are ignorant.
You were more than right when you said that SMAK was before Van Halen, way before actually, a whole decade. His name is Radomir Mihajlovic - Tocak and the name of his band is Smak. He is very popular in Serbia and the region. He is considered one of the greatest living guitarists not only in the Balkans, but also in the World. Seriously!
Tocak was and still is one of the most talented guitar players from Serbia. His only equipment is a Fender Strat, guitar chords, and a Marchall amp. Listen to the sound that he is getting.??!!??? Amazing .........
Back than there were so many incredible bands in Yugoslavia the only country in the World who could stand head to head with USA.There is one band from England Iron Maiden one of the greatest of all time. There is a video on You Tube where Steve Haris talks about Bijelo Dugme and what an inspiration this group was for him and Iron Maiden. He named the song of Bijelo Dugme "Pozurite konji moji" translate on English "Hurry up my horses"he sad this is the way we will go from now on.Smak on the other hand was as good as Led Zepelin,UFO,Scorpions,Deep Purple,Rainbow World Class.
Most beautifull song from SMAK is the closing song from album Stranice našeg vremena, a song is Ponoćni lovac .... 11 minuts of pure emorion mastering of every instrument used in song including a master class of singing.... You should chek.... There is no live record ... When you heard it you will know why.... Cheers form Serbia....
You should try to find an interview with Jimmy Page when they asked him ,, How do you feel as a best guitar player in the world?,, or something like that, see what he answered
This is probably the best serbian rock band. F Bijelo dugme and that crap SMACK also sounds cool. Slusao sam ih na poslednjem koncertu na Uscu dok su svi bili na broju, posle su nesto svirali na nekom jubileju grada Kragujevca. Epski bend

His name is Radomir Mihajlovic - Tocak and the name of his band is Smak. He is very popular in Serbia and the region. He is considered one of the greatest living guitarists not only in the Balkans, but also in the World. Seriously!

Fun fact - he actually never liked much that song, and to play it, he considered it too commercial for his taste.
Група СМАК, Р.М. Точак
I am from Montenegro and I know that RM Tocak is one of the best ever
Guitar straight into the amp, no pedals, no preams just a cable. Wizard
Radomir Mihajlovic....Tocak is his nickname. The rock group is 'Smak' , from Serbia.
Look this is timeless and can stand with most famious rock bands....one and only SMAK from Serbia.
I'm from Serbia. My favourite blues-rock group
Tocak was and still is one of the most talented guitar players from Serbia. His only equipment is a Fender Strat, guitar chords, and a Marchall amp. Listen to the sound that he is getting.??!!??? Amazing .........
Smak iz from my home town, Kragujevac, Serbia. It's my most favourite band.
🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
Lisin LEB I SOL FROM MACEDONIA
No compromise, pure rock!
one of the best...from serbia....
Točaks skills are national heritage and a force of nature.
Tocak is the beast 😂😂😂
Masterpiece ❤
You should hear version on Classical guitar where he with finger picking doing with all of this playing bass line in same time
Gospodin Tocak virtouz na gitari. Imao sam cast da ga uziivo gledam davno u Domu sindikata. Bilo je nezaboravno.❤❤❤❤

Serbian rock band.
SMAK.
Tocak is a ❤❤❤
U prevodu sa srpskog: Entering the harem
This is probably the best serbian rock band. F Bijelo dugme and that crap
SMACK also sounds cool. Slusao sam ih na poslednjem koncertu na Uscu dok su svi bili na broju, posle su nesto svirali na nekom jubileju grada Kragujevca. Epski bend
