The goal of food banks is to not exist. They should not be a thing in this country - the government should ensure that its citizens can afford food, heating and electricity, which just doesn't happen this counrry, instead of relying on food banks. So the title is correct but a bit misleading.

On the one hand I like that people come out and support their local communities - it's clearly something we should celebrate, particularly in the modern age - on the other hand food banks are extreme moral hazard. If food banks really need to exist something about either economic or social policy needs to change and it won't whilst the cracks are being papered over. They shouldn't be open, and then the government - of whichever party - can be made to fix the result. The more the expand the worse this problem is. It's a similar issue with this idea of what homelessness is - if people are technically homeless but actually sleeping in mates' houses etc that's a problem that is never going to be dealt with.
