  • In this video we're discussing which rubber hex dumbbells to choose, Rogue Fitness or Rep Fitness . I also talk about alternatives like adjustable dumbbells and generic options. Rogue and Rep are solid options but they have some differences you should know about before you buy.
    We'll talk about which should go into your garage gym and why. Because of Covid I own both Rogue and Rep items and while I'm happy with how my home gym is coming out I'm hoping this video may help you decide on your dumbbells.

    After hours of research I feel like I know more about dumbbells than any person should... What's your thoughts on these and other dumbbells? Got a favorite or one I should try? Let me know in the comments!

      I got myself a set of Powerblocks and regretted it ever since. It would be nice to see Rep, Rogue, Eleiko, and Iron Grip dumbbells side by side. When looking for a full set (beyond those targeted for beginners), those are really the only brands that people seem to hold in high regard.

    Hey man I followed your recommendation and got the Rep dumbbells. Unfortunately 7 of the 10 dumbbells I received has flat spots and bad knurling issues straight from the factory. Literally no QC. love your review though and I’m glad you got a flawless set.

    I'm 57 years old and between the handles on the Rogue which I have at home, and the handles on the REP which I have at the gym, I prefer the rep straight handle. The shape on the rogue just really hurts my hands because of that curve.

    Really like this. Currently only have adjustables up to 50. But like you said i dont trust it anything above that. So I plan on buying by usually jumps of 70-120 with the REP now.

    Do the straight handle of the dumbbells provide any benefit over the regular ones in any exercise like pushing or pulling?? Are they worth the extra cash???

  • @sqd8r
    @sqd8r 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'd go with Cap, no point paying more for the same product from the same factories just to have a logo on them. The questionable extra quality stuff seems odd given these things don't go wrong unless abused and I doubt it makes a difference in the lifetime of the product.

    • @Mariners4405

      I owned CAP 30 and it has passive knurling. Just don't drop them and they should last. Some Rubber dumbbells are fully rubber while others are iron with a rubber coat around.

    What’s your heaviest dumbbell? I bought a second hand set range from 5 to 80lbs. I’m only 130lbs so I don’t really need to go much higher but man I would like to have 85 to 100lbs. That would literally cost a lottt of money

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mine currently go to 100, I have plans to go to 120 but I might still be missing 55-70... You're right they cost a fortune so I'll probably hold out on the big ones until people start off loading stuff.

  • @benrosenberg7972

    Where did you get the dumbbell rack from? I may order the Rep dumbbells 5-100, but I noticed that two of the Rep dumbbell racks can't hold all of them, which is annoying

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got them from a gym that was closing, they're hammer strength. I looked at Rogue's rack before that but it's very expensive so I was just about to order the Rep Fitness Victory 2 Tier rack when these popped up. That's your best bet, they were in stock for a bit but aren't atm. I left mine on the floor for about 4 months before I got these.

  • @Lost1nTranslation
    @Lost1nTranslation ปีที่แล้ว

    The REP handles look bigger in diameter. I'm wondering if this would work better for larger hands? Or, conversely, not as good for smaller hands in comparison to the rogue?

      For adjustable check out the ab 3000 or 5000 if you need decline and incline. The dumbbells you should get individual up to 50 probably but after that you'd blow up your budget.

    Your gym is awesome. Where did you get the dumbbell rack? Is looks nice. So do those Bumpers! I just purchased 90lbs Titan round urethane Dumbbells, Not sure if I made a great choice? They look just like Rogue and Rep, but way cheaper. $545 shipped vs $806 Rogue.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Urethane dumbbells in general are are higher quality and pretty damn expensive. I wish I could afford some but I'm not sure I could justify for a home gym. I haven't seen Titans in person but I've found their quality (and I own a lot of their stuff) in general can be a bit all over the place but also pretty decent and some of their more expensive suits surprises me in how good it is.
      They very well could be the same company producing them tbh.
      Oh and the rack is a Hammer Strength commercial rack I got from a gym closing down. It was 1/4 retail price so I couldn't pass it up. Otherwise I'd like at the rep victory 2 tier.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No but by the looks of it it's a new company that started up because of the recent demand for home gym stuff. Their dumbbells look like generic dumbbells like you'd get from cap and a ton of other places. I'd compare their prices based on that level of equipment and decide from there.

My gf uses my rep and rogue dbs and has never complained about the grip size (she's 5'6 if that helps).
