He also used to have a show in England where he would introduce his favorite movies and sort of come in around the commercial breaks and talk about certain scenes in stuff. There are some clips on TH-cam that I’ve seen, if you’re so inclined.
One of the reasons I admire Tarantino. You can feel the love he has for his films and cinema as a whole just by watching. You can tell he genuinely enjoys his craft.
The first time I ever saw it was on TV and I turned the TV on and Vincent gets shot... and then it time jumps backwards and I remember just thinking "this is a really cool idea" and I've been a fan of QT ever since. This was many, many years ago.
Django Unchained would probably be it for me for the sheer brilliance of the characters. And the stark contrast between the comedy / violence and how that’s packaged in a way where you can laugh along yet feel somewhat odd knowing this shit really went on back then. It really was a flawless performance from Christoper Waltz he made that movie for me. Jamie fox and Leo also exceptional. 10/10
Don't forget about Samuel Jacksons performance, him Leo & Christoph were all battling for a Oscar & they all honestly deserved one for that film but u can only give one per film especially since they're all supporting actors!!!!
I saw three times in the theaters and when it came out on DVD I watched it three or four times the first month I had it! It's fantastic. I own the book but have not read it yet unfortunately
As an artist, your last project will usually be your fav. Just because the memory of making it is so fresh...still has the excitement of, "look what we did!". That said. Once upon a time...hmmm may just be my fav as well. Inglorious Basterds being my second pick.
Probably my least favorite of his, or at least around the bottom. But it's still a great movie. Any Tarantino written flick will at least have entertaining/witty dialogue
1:04 you can't compare actors watching their performances on screen to a director watching his movies or a painter seeing his painting in a museum. Actors don't just see their acting, they see how they look and sound to the world
I dig that he’s into his own movies! “I make them for me!” I’ve viewed all of his movies many times and actually had to pay over a hundred bucks for Reservoir Dogs on VHS when it came out (remember Blockbuster late fees?). Saw pulp fiction a dozen times in the theatre and so on…. Django, Inglorious Basterds, and Once upon a time are probably perfect movies, but I don’t think I could ever pick just one favorite.
All of them. Every one of them is so unique and completely different storyline that makes it impossible to put one in front of the other. My absolute favorite director of all time!
To me Django Unchained is his best film. I love western films and It has such a satisfying conclusion and great acting involved from everyone especially DiCaprio and Waltz. However Pulp Fiction is a perfect movie.
@@captnawesme Agreed, it technically isn't a western, but the big crime here is that it has TWO conclusions...shit should have ended after the first Candyland shootout. There's zero reason we needed another. Tarantino's ego got in the way here and you really felt Sally Menken's absence.
I've watched Pulp Fiction more times than any of the others combined so that would likely be my pick...but they're all great in their own way. Even From Dusk Till Dawn which he didn't direct is one of my favorites.
Django is my favorite movie from him honestly, great characters and dialogue, great soundtrack and revenge story line… the most Tarantino movie he’s ever made
Pulp Fiction for me. It’s my favorite film of all time and it changed the way I viewed films. It’s honestly one of the most perfectly made films of all time.
Once Upon A Time is my favorite as well. It wasn't at first. It's so charming, hilarious, and very tense at times. The scene where Cliff shows up to Spahn Ranch is one of Tarantino's best scenes for me.
I still remember watching Pulp Fiction on a 3 disc DVD and was blown away with all the storylines and how they interconnected with each other. Still the best Tarantino movie.
was about to wrote this down as well. His segment of Four Rooms and the whole movie is just brilliant.... with Ted(Tim Roth) replying to Richie Aprile(David Proval) AKA Sigfried lol Its not that big nervously,SHOW IT TO ME hahaha
Once upon a time was certainly his best I think, and my personal favorite. It’s just got an energy to it that none of his others could quite capture, one of the best period pieces of all time
One interview way before this one happened he had mentioned that the critics around 20 years from then would say that Inglourious Basterds was his best film.
you can really tell that Quentin is making movies for himself and he does not give a damn what other people think. that's the difference between an artful director and a commercial director
Well, technically, he didn't say it was his "favorite", he just said it was the "best film he's made". Those can be two different things. For me, my personal favorite has always been Pulp Fiction.
Jackie Brown for me. And no, not for the sake of being edgy or different Lol His films are all entertaining, but JB is by far the one where I feel the most emotionally invested in the characters. Would've loved to see him tackle another Elmore Leonard novel.
I'm the same, he's praised as a screenwriter-director but he tackled so well that as an adaptation ( basically disguised as an original, a lot of people don't know that) he has a love for comedy, for some reason i've always wanted to see him do a Fletch movie or something in that vein, making it edgier
The "start over" movie theme is what makes it so close to our human condition. It's something anyone can experience. It struck me since the first time I watched it.
Quentin's is exactly my philisophy for making art and comics, i make them for /me/ because it's what i want to read/see, thats why i love what i do so much. Thank you Quentin for so many great works of art because you love your craft.
I do believe it's best is either Pulp fiction or Jackie Brown, I personally love Jackie Brown but I have to say the Steven character in Django unchained is also great which makes the movie probably unique and few scenes in Reservoir dogs are unbelievable
Pulp Fiction has to be in the top favorite movies I've ever seen. I'm surprised it wasn't his favorite. Every line in the movie is a classic. I've seen it so many times I know every line in it.
I just think there is a big difference between having made/directed a movie and then watch it and starring in a film and then watch it. I can totally understand actors that don’t wanna watch themselves act, I think most of them are honest.
Once Upon a Time is my favorite. I saw it 5 times in theaters. Every scene was so enthralling, and it scratched every itch I had. As for his best, it’s gotta be Pulp Fiction. It’s one of the 10 best films ever made imo.

One of the reasons I admire Tarantino. You can feel the love he has for his films and cinema as a whole just by watching. You can tell he genuinely enjoys his craft.
This is the best Tarantino clip ever. “I’m making em for me… everyone else is invited”
It's the same thing with writers. Storytelling is done for the writer. They are writing for an audience of one, themselves.
Not all writers do that…
@BrandonRossi-z7f The good ones do though.
For me, it's Pulp Fiction. It was fresh, different and exciting. It's still great after 30 years. It stands the test of time.
The first time I ever saw it was on TV and I turned the TV on and Vincent gets shot... and then it time jumps backwards and I remember just thinking "this is a really cool idea" and I've been a fan of QT ever since.

Pulp fiction is a masterpiece and that was the obvious answer here. Once upon a time is my least favorite of his films
Pulp fiction 100%.
Pulp Fiction is great, but it has definitely aged.
He was part of a movie called Four Rooms that was great also.
Love that everyone has a different favorite. Goes to show how amazing his movies truly are
I agree, my friend ❤️🔥
Facts, you know a movie producer is that good when his fans argue with their favorite movies
That's true, but my favorite QT movie is all of them.
H: "Why do you watch your movies back?" Q: "I love 'em!" - That's awesome!!
Inglorious Basterds, for me. What an absolute masterpiece.
Inglorious Basterds is the best movie I’ve ever seen. Not just the best Tarantino movie, THE best movie.
That's a Bingo!
Yesss! It’s super underrated! An absolute gem.
True that.

After thinking about it, Django Unchained slightly edges over all others for me due to the Freedom scene. Goosebumps every time.
Once upon a time is my favorite. Its such a rewarding experience as a fan of his films and cinema at large.

William Friedkin would have disagreed with that.

Great interview... Tarantino is such a great guest.
Pulp Fiction imo. That Marsellus Wallace speech with Al Green's Let's Stay Together was a thing of beauty

It was at that part of the movie when i start to realize i was watching a masterpiece.

I really think Pulp Fiction is the best.
Same for me and probably pulp fiction 3rd.
Reservoir Dogs is my favorite but they’re are valid choices 👌
Also, usually they're trying to sell their latest project, so it doesn't make sense to pull focus away from that by mentioning something else.
4. Reservoir Dogs
3. Pulp Fiction
2. Django
1. Inglorious Basterds
The "Tells" scene in True Romance between Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken has some of the best dialogue of any movie ever.
