What are you on about? The defense of the Reichstag was one of the most brutal and hard-fought defenses in the war. It was more a less fought till the last bullet took every soldiers life... the remaining members of SS Nordland and Charlemagne stayed to defend whilst everyone else ran to get captured by the British or US, they clung on grimly to every mound of rubble, by the end more than 90% of the unit had been killed and the 60 odd that surrendered at the end only did so because they were so badly wounded they were physically incapable of resistance/fighting. And this division of the SS was a foreign legion, so for SS Nordland was almost exclusively conscripts and volunteers from Hungary, and Charlemagne was basically all French and they fought till the last man for another nation.

What are you on about? The defense of the Reichstag was one of the most brutal and hard-fought defenses in the war. It was more a less fought till the last bullet took every soldiers life...
the remaining members of SS Nordland and Charlemagne stayed to defend whilst everyone else ran to get captured by the British or US, they clung on grimly to every mound of rubble, by the end more than 90% of the unit had been killed and the 60 odd that surrendered at the end only did so because they were so badly wounded they were physically incapable of resistance/fighting. And this division of the SS was a foreign legion, so for SS Nordland was almost exclusively conscripts and volunteers from Hungary, and Charlemagne was basically all French and they fought till the last man for another nation.
