Sooooo, I know that not ALL Xbox games are backwards compatible but you actually can play Telltale's Jurassic Park on the XSX if you have the original game disc. It's simply delisted from digital store and there are other titles that are backwards compatible with disc only like this game and Driver San Francisco.

The Xbox 360 was a great console. I remember getting the Xbox 360 which came with the 20GB detachable hard drive and was bundled with the original Gears of War and Call of Duty 3. I remember when I fired up Gears of War and I was just blown away how great the game looked and how well it played. I also thought it was cool being able to use a wireless controller straight out of the box. Some of my favourite games from that era include the Orange Box, Halo 3, Halo Reach, Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Fallout 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Forza Motorsport 2, Left 4 Dead, Battlefield 3 and the Tomb Raider reboot.

I still say the 360/ps3/wii era was the last exciting generation of gaming. I know younger people will disagree because they didn't experience it, but what's so exciting about this current gen? So many games littered with micro transactions and loot boxes, grind to get these items or give us more money, constant patches because every game is rushed to market... It's not as fun as it used to be.

Such a great console and definitely a highlight of that generation. Everything just felt so fresh and new when it came out, not to mention the degree of online multiplayer becoming even more mainstream. Sure it had its faults, but the library it had was fantastic and catered to almost every kind of gamer. I still have mine and about 200 games, but unfortunately had to put in storage because of space issues, someday I'll dig out the treasure trove that I have and replay my favorites.

It fits 192 discs total and both cases are about the size of of console itself so all the space I need for my 360 is basically 2 consoles worth.

The Xbox 360 and the NES are tied in first place, as my all time favorite consoles. To me, gaming peaked out in creativity during the PS3 and Xbox 360 era. Sure, games look better now, but besides looks, I haven’t played anything since then, that really felt like a new experience. Most modern games, just feel like reskinned versions of older games. I think computer technology as a whole is coming to a point where the limitations are above what developers need out of the system. Consider the jump from NES to SNES, or from SNES to ps1/n64, and then compare it to the difference between ps4 and ps5. The 80s-2000s were a time when computer technology growth was lifting limitations that previously held back the potential of devs and ideas.

We had Halo LAN parties many many weekends. Had RRoD that MS fixed for free and still have it to this day. Slim & E models are extremely reliable. The power brick kept the heat outside the console & was easily replaced vs if it were built into the console. Controllers were solid and still work to this day because of the ability to use AA batteries wether they were standard AA or rechargeable. I have PS3 comptrollers that no longer work because the built in battery no longer holds a charge. Yes, you can take the controller apart & replace but not everyone knows how or are confident doing so.

Thank God I was never a fan boy. I've been back and forth through the PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox one, PS4, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PSP, WII, Switch, PC and now finally I have a PS5. I've experienced all the best of the world's and I will forever continue on with that energy. All the companies have their best to offer, why stick with only one? I never really understood the console wars especially even at their height. While fun to watch and read people attack eachother, I was never loyal to one. The entertainment experience only amplified when I opened myself to as many of them as possible.

I recently purchased an Xbox X as my first next gen system. The X series is quite the upgrade in regards to having the ability to play 4K games and etc. However, I still find myself in the unique position on continuing to utilize the Xbox 360 as my Windows Media extender (WMC) from my PC's WMC. I found the Xbox X series a system which should replace the X360 but learning that WMC has been discontinued by Microsoft themselves for several years, next "gen" system will never have this app unless there is a demand.

I've been needing a wired controller to play steam games (much easier than troubleshooting with PS4 or Switch Pro controllers) but also have some old games on the system I've wanted to play and finish, like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon respectively. The game selection is limited though and not a whole lot I want out of it (JRPG fan here) but it has exclusives so I decided to hit two birds with one stone purchase.

I was lucky to buy a brand new 360 E Slim back in May 2021. I was back into collecting video games; and while 2021 onward may be the worst time to collect video games, I had no regrets getting this system back. The Xbox 360, while most look into PS3 / Wii for 1st Party Exclusives, import scene, collecting value ; the Xbox 360 E Slim ( the one RGT 85 shows ) is best out of the previous two systems. You can be able to obtain 3rd Party Titles for a reasonable price in comparison to the PS3 versions, you can install the disc on your hard drive, where when you boot up the your game disc, the disc will not spin and will act as an disc reader - meaning it'll play. The 360 also plays around 50 % of Original Xbox games, which is cool. Its a great system, the games are way cheaper than PS3 titles as nobody cares nor sees value on 360 . So if you are wanting to start building a game collection, the Xbox 360 is a no brainer as well as the Wii & Ps3

I thought hard about this some time ago and the 360 is my favorite console of all time. I date back to the beginning of the OG NES days so I’ve seen some cycles. Shiny HD graphics, built in online capability, Xbox Live Arcade, and so many of my all time favorite games launching over the years (Oblivion/Skyrim, Dragon Ages, Demons Souls, Mass Effects, Halos, Gears, Etc.). And I can put the disc in and play it without having to download 40Gb which means I actually own the game. Bought a second (Elite) about 3 months back and absolutely love it. Still actively collecting all those hidden gems that eluded me back in the day. Prices are still low and availability is high.

I've been playing the 360 since 2012. It's such a sweet console, and tbh, a very underrated console. When I was in the 2nd grade (2005-2006 school year), I remember so many kids talking about how awesome their 360 is, and I thought I'd never get my hands on one. Then on Christmas 2012 me and my brother were given a 360 slim. It ran super well all the way until May 2021 when it got the red ring of death. That was an easy fix though, we just got another one off ebay, then popped the hard drive in and it runs just as well. I let my brother have that one, and I got the 360 E for myself. The 360 definitely has always been a favorite for me 😁

As you said, that was the last generation in which the graphical jump was so massive, and the fact that the increases have seemed less so from 360 to current gen is why, at least to me, many 360 titles still hold up well.
