Random Thought:
A video came through on my Facebook feed early this morning from a nurse who was basically venting about how nuts it is to work in an ER during a rough flu season (on their feet nonstop, full waiting rooms, impolite patients, etc.) and giving some common sense advice. Got me to thinking how thankful we should all be for the hardworking nurses who are doing so much with very little break. You are appreciated & thanks for all you do!!
When you mentioned the highlighters might work as eyeshadows it came to me that it would be fun to see a video where you do a full face using products "off label" (term taken from the medical context where a physician may prescribe a medication to treat a condition other than what the FDA has approved it for).

Honestly, I feel like the new packaging looks cheap and like something you'd find in the dollar store. I saw the new packaging in Walmart a few weeks ago and I took a double take because I thought the products were a knock off.
I had that exact same moment the other day,haha! I agree with you completely as well.It just comes off terribly bland,and generic. I think they were trying to look modern and sleek,but it is such a misstep imo.

Great review. Thrilled to say I FINALLY found the Wet n Wild highlighter pencil. It's been sold out for months in the Denver area. Apparently you've gotten the word out. 3 counties & many stores later I found it & took it to the register, clutching it like a little child with a new toy 😃

Once again, you’re the queen of honest, thoughtful reviews!! I’m cautiously optimistic about this rebranding. I always think of covergirl as “old” or the kind of makeup I wore back when I first started and didn’t know anything about makeup. I think they’ll have to work hard to change that perception! I don’t know about everyone else but I’m dying to see another “get ready with me” style tutorial from you, they’re always so fun to watch and give me ideas to try! Thanks for doing what you do! XO
That covergirl vitalist foundation is one of my absolute fav, everyday go-to foundations. I like that it is medium coverage, it looks beautiful on the skin, leaves my normal skin with a bit of a dewiness and I haven't had any issues with staying power for me. It took me a couple tries to find the right shade for me because they do oxidize, but once I found my shade, it has become my go-to, day to day foundation. Thanks for reviewing these products, Emily. I definitely have been wondering about them.

I feel like Covergirl needs an update more than most. Can’t remember the last time I bought one of their products and I’m a makeup addict. I hope they really take the feedback both good and bad to heart and bring their products into the 21st century.

Carin's Corner Shimmering Sands is the best! I think I've been using it since the late 80s? O, my goodness! 'Course I do use many more now, but still! Shimmering Sands is just the best! AND it's the 1st eyeshadow I bought for both my girls! Man! Takes me back!
No hate, no shade, no drama but I've never met a CG product that I enjoyed, they have a lot of products that feel like have a ton of oil in them and it doesn't work on my skin type. They can give their brand a face lift all they want but if the products and formulas aren't revamped, there's no use because I feel like they're so behind in the drugstore world... Even Wet 'n' Wild is leaps and bounds better!
Try their two mascaras the clump crusher and Lash blast they are two of the only products I like by them period.

You should do a video reviewing and retrying all the old stuff that Covergirl and Maybelline have been making for years. I thought of this because a few weeks ago, I bought the Maybelline Ultra Liner liquid liner (it was the only one I could find in dark brown). I forgot how good that eyeliner was. I also noticed that they still make the Full and Soft mascara and the Lash Discovery mascara. It would be fun to do a try-on of the stuff they have been making forever.

Covergirl's Trumatch foundation is my holy grail. It's the only foundation that sinks into my skin. Blends in rather than sits on top and I've tried about 50 foundations. High end like double wear Estée Lauder, too faced born this way, Dior, etc and nothing looks as good on my skin as covergirl truMatch. Love it!!!!! 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙

Speaking of rebranding - Almay is the last brand I'd expect to do this, but they have come out with a duo chrome jelly highlighter. There is a pink one and a blue one. Would love to see you try it out in a video!

Lori Sullivan they sell in China which makes them not cruelty free by my definition. However, it means different things to different people so I dont speak for everyone. But if you do want to know more Logical Harmony is a great resource.
Their are not many drugstore brands that ARE cruelty free. Wet N Wild, and ELF are cruelty free but def not covergirl maybelline loreal all are NOT cruelty free

I always felt like some covergirl products smell weird. When I first started wearing makeup I had a covergirl cheekers blush and I felt like it smelled like raid... yes what you use to kill roaches! I think the packaging is awesome.
Thanks for the info, Emily! I always enjoy your videos so much. If Covergirl ever reformulates or discontinues the Outlast 3-in-1 foundation I don't know what I'll do. My skin is super oily so I need a long wearing foundation. But it can't be super mattifying because I'm in my 40s and have fine lines and wrinkles. Super mattifying foundations cling to and exaggerate all that "goodness" and make it look crapey. L'Oréal infallible and Revlon Colorstay age me horribly and I can't use them, but that Covergirl one works great. The problem I have with Covergirl is they never have a light enough shade like L'Oréal, Maybelline, and Revlon do. I have to mix something else in to lighten it. Lately I've been mixing in the new Maybelline Superstay foundation. It doesn't last well on my skin on its own, but mixed in with the Covergirl it does pretty good. And it comes in a couple of very light shades that match me well when mixed with the Covergirl. I haven't even bothered trying the Healthy Elixir foundation because 1) I'm not sure it would hold up well to my extremely oily skin and 2) its lightest shade is even darker than the Outlast foundation. Covergirl definitely needs to do something about their shade range.

I started using makeup in the late 80's. My first eye palette from cover girl was a frosty blue one. I loved it at the time, but honestly I'd go back to the 80's looks given the opportunity. I love your videos by the way.
I love their CG 3 in 1 Stay Fab foundation and their Supersizer!!!!
I found some of the new CG products at Walgreens and have tried the little highlighters and setting spray so far. The setting spray is fine as setting sprays go. I do really like the highlighters, although so far I've only used them on my eyes like a cream shadow or topper. The first two shades I've worn over other colors and loved the way it looked. Once you apply them they set and stay all day. There is a powder that I haven't tried yet, as well as liners.
It is so interesting how the makeup lines are rebranding to stay relevant. I love the cheekers blushes! That smell! Takes me back to when I was 12 and my mom bought me a cheekers blush as my first blush!!! Great video! Thanks as always!

OMG!! Fritos was the first thing that came to my mind when I applied that Cover Girl glow lotion also!! Definitely has a corn chip smell!! It's the exact same smell their Outlast foundation had. The luminous one, not the regular one.

Emily! Can you do a deep dive into brands like Pur and Laura Geller. In Ulta they always recommend those lines to me but I won't buy anything from them without an opinion from you first!
abo3791 I love a lot of Laura Geller products. They look great on everyone. However, I am 56 and so I have to pick & choose bc of the "glimmer" in some of them. I'd pass on the Spackle. The Balance & Brighten is great. Blushes are hit & miss, only bc of shimmer. Her French Vanilla (eyeshadow?) is what I use as highlighter. It brightens with no sparkle. I can't think of the name of her line without shimmer, but it's a cute name that gets the point across.
April Anonymous I agree with you on the fact that a lot of their products have SO much shimmer in them. my moms 51 and hated the spackle primer (as did I when I tried it) and wasn't big into the shimmery blushes because they had so much shimmer they could've been used as a highlight. if you like highlights that don't look so stark on your skin I would try the one from Essence! it's in a black compact with a clear lid, I think it just says nude on it and it's only $3! it gives a natural "lit from within" kind of glow and it's perfect for any makeup look day or night
I have actually been really enjoying the new covergirl liquid lipsticks. I know you didn’t talk about them but they are new too and wear very well without being too drying.

That roses palette is actually really pretty. I don't think I've ever seen it before. Probably because I walk right past the Cover Girl display to look at brands that aren't stuck in a time warp.
Not sure why they decided to go with such generic-looking packaging for their vitalist line. Looks like each product should simply say "FOUNDATION" or "CONCEALER" and have a big bar code across the front. XD

The package kinda looks like the generic package from back in the day. Lol! Is it just me or does everyone see that too? I like the lip products thou. Love ur videos Mrs. lady. ❤️❤️
Oh, no...you are not the only one thinking this stuff looks generic. What were they thinking? Maybe nobody working there is old enough to remember what things looked like at the grocery store before there were store brands.
The packaging is ultra boring.
I think it's worse than boring. I don't mind boring packaging. The new packaging is unappealing enough that I would probably hide these things away in a drawer or cabinet if I had any interest in owning them.

I JUST bought the Vitalist foundation also in Creamy Natural at Target last week. I have "aging/dry skin". I powdered it with a little of my Laura Mercier Powder very lightly and it wore it all day. Looked great on my skin with about 10 hour wear.
I loved the look of the concealer but I wonder if I would go through it so fast that it would end up costing as much as a high end product? The CG Smoothers line has always been a favorite of mine and the nostalgic part of me doesn't like the new branding.

For some reason I just cannot get behind Covergirl. I ALWAYS skip their section at the drugstore when I’m browsing. And this “facelift” isn’t gonna change that for me.

I feel that way about most of their stuff but that clump crusher mascara and the lash blast mascara are amazing.
I can't get behind Cover Girl either. Partly because it's boring and partly because the products aren't generally that good.
I have the clump crusher mascara, and it's not bad. But I feel like a pre-schooler holding a giant crayon when I use it. That huge stinkin handle is hard to hold onto, and makes application more challenging.
The only thing I'm interested in from them is that roses eyeshadow palette. But I'll wait for a coupon.
I used Cover girl when I was 15...20 years ago. I have absolutely no interest in cover girl and that stupid "Lash Equality" ad further turned me off to their brand. It's just not good.
Even with this facelift they still look somewhat outdated to me.
