everything is a test. we will be tested with wealth, health, difficulties, poverty etc. We may or may not see the outcome of our effort. despite the best effort and despite the best intentions. Only Allah determine the outcome of our efforts. Whether we get what we want, the whole primary purpose is to submit to Allah because Allah created us with the sole intention of worshipping Allah and that includes surrendering the outcome of our effort to Allah alone. And it is also important to remember our success comes from Allah alone and not from our effort as some group will claim that they are successful because of their own hardwork.
Shaddad bin Aus narrates: The Prophet ﷺ, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: اللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي، لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِيْ وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَىَّ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِيْ، فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوْبَ إِلَّاأَنْتَ Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Khalaqtani wa ana ‘abduka, wa ana ‘ala ‘ahdika wa wa‘dika mastata‘tu, a‘udhu bika min sharri ma sana‘tu, abu-u laka bini‘matika ‘alaiyya, wa abu‘u laka bidhanbi faghfirli, fa-innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa anta O Allah, You are my Lord; There is no Diety except You. You created me and I am Your servant. And I abide by Your oath and promise [that I may honour it] to the best of my ability. I seek refuge with You from every evil I have committed. I acknowledge Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely there is no one who can forgive sins except You. (Sahih al-Bukhari)
The Messenger (ﷺ) said: If one of you finishes from the last Tashahud , then he should seek refuge with Allah from four things : he says: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ القَبْر، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسيحِ الدَّجَّالِ Allaahumma ‘innee a’oothu bika min adhaabil-qabr, wa min ‘adhaabi Jahannam, wa min fitnatil-Mahyaa wal Mamaat, wa min sharri Fitnatil-Maseehid-Dajjal O Allah, I take refuge in You From the punishment of the grave, And from the torment of the Fire, And from the trials and tribulations of life and death And from the evil affliction of Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjal (Al-Bukhari)
