  • When is the last time you checked your blood pressure?
1 in 4 women die from heart disease and stroke and women are 6 times more likely to die from heart disease than breast cancer…yet what are we most scared of? Well, I know that up until recently I was most scared about cancer.
Blood pressure is known as the silent killer - we can be living our best lives and carrying on as usual without knowing that we have high blood pressure. High blood pressure increases our risk of heart attack and stroke.
As women age and enter the perimenopause and menopause years of their 40s and 50s our blood pressure can increase thus increasing our cardiovascular risk. This means that we are more at risk of heart attack and stroke. But we don’t think about our heart health really do we? Because we look and feel younger than our grannies did at our age. But just because we look and feel great does not mean that our heart health is great. Our hearts are still aging.
After my high cholesterol reading, I am on a mission to increase my cardiovascular health. This starts by understanding my blood pressure.
Remember ladies, knowledge is power. If you know your numbers you can do something about them. A good diet, exercise, and SLEEP are the best ways to help with your heart health. I will be doing lots of research on drugs, including HRT and it’s benefits for our heart health too.
Drop any questions or comments below. Will this post make you want to check your blood pressure??
