A Great Anti Soviet Song. You are too young to remember. Bjorn is saying if Nato and the Old Communist Warsaw pact go to war, Even though Sweden is Neutral, they will have to chose a side and fight. The Lyric, Cause if the bugler starts to play, We too must dance. Sweden does not like Russia at all and has not for over 500 years.
There has never really been good relations between Sweden and Russia since early disputes started in the 1100's, then with Russia's predecessor in the region, the Republic of Novgorod. Later, when the Moscovites engulfed Novgorod in the 1400's (and the Russian empire more or less formed) nothing changed in the Swedish-Russian relations. In the 1700's Russia beat Sweden in the battle of Poltava and for about 50 years veto-ed internal Swedish politics, such as the choice of government and rulers. The coastlines towards the Baltic Sea was several times raided and burnt to the ground by Russian troops for much of the 18th and 19th century.
Björn told about his writing process that I saw recently. He feels that the song comes with a message that it's up to him as a writer to capture and make clear. That man seems rather spiritual for a declared atheist...

It is really nice and, as you said, completly different than all the other ABBA songs you reacted to. And you're completly right saying that is incredible how they singing all together works soooo good. If you wanna listen more ABBA unknown sides, check, when you can obviously, the other ABBA song I proposed you "The way old friends do". Please, don't forget also the third song I proposed you (Ana Moura - Desfado). Only to remind you that Ana Moura is a very popular singer in my country Portugal. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I would suggest you give this song another listen to take in the lyrics. They are about war, and they are very meaningful. Also, I'd like to repeat a couple of requests I made before: Beautiful Music by Barry Manilow, The Way I Am by Neil Sedaka, and I'll add a couple of fantastic but more recent songs by Rick Springfield, Victoria's Secret and Exit Wound. And for Manilow and Sedaka, studio versions would be better.
