- Residents of a Largo over-55 manufactured home community say their lot rents could skyrocket because they weren’t able to sign new “lifetime leases” when the park was sold.
Residents say they didn’t receive important notices on time, and that could cost them thousands of dollars a year in increased lot rental fees.
In some cases, it could completely price residents out of the community.
Not the first time this has happened, won't be the last!
We used to live in a legacy 55+ pa4k. Legacy bought the proerty years after we moved there and their first year as owners they raised the rent 10%. We lived there for 4 or 5 more years of their ownership and our lot rent went up 10% every year. We saw the writing on the wall and sold our place in the Legacy community and would never go to one of their proerties. I give legacy 1/2 star.
This is sad and disgusting! Greed has definitely permeated every crease and crevice of society. One man in Austin, Texas, committed suicide because he felt like he had no other choice. So many hard-working people who are underpaid need an affordable place to live, I know because I am one of them. I only pray for Devine intervention. Federal regulations that prevent the greedy and their insatiable appetite for "MORE" by oppressing the poor even further would be great, but highly unlikely due to ALL the cancerous corruption in today's world. 🙄
This greed is only in capitalist countries like the USA.
I advise everyone to move and tell the lot completely abandoned them dose greedy people can go out of business and loose everything like how the poor dose or sue them some how
This happen twice to a friend of mine. Property was sold. Everybody was evicted. Townhouses were built on the first property. Second one a shopping mall. Do not buy a mobile home that is in a park thats close to the downtown core.
The states need to stop this from happening but they won't. Politicians won't do anything that doesn't benefit themselves. If the park is sold and up to code, people should not be forced out. States have the money to buy the property and rent it to the homeowners but this wouldn't benefit politicians.
Why should they?
Karlabrittfield is a troll and probably works for legacy. Pay no attention as she has responded negatively to most of the comments
This is indeed a devastating and sad testament of how wretched and and greedy our society has become or the ones who have so called power over others. I do not see how people live with themselves doing others this way. Sad, despicable and pure outright greedy and they will have to answer for it one day and find themselves in bad positions and no one to help.
It’s never EVER enough for these greedy people. They don’t care who they put on the street. They will squeeze the very last dime out of an elderly, dying person and not feel ONE ounce of remorse for it. They have a sick spirit of greed in them. It’s insatiable. Enough is never enough for them. They will answer one day, but I fear it won’t be till they leave this world. Because this world gets more greedy and corrupt by the day. If everyone would put aside their petty differences and join together, we could do something about it. But I don’t see that happening. People are way too easily swayed by the media telling them that they are victims of their skin color, or gender identity, etc & that people that aren’t exactly like them are the enemy. 🙄. We have a common enemy; these greedy people that try to buy up everything & overprice it. But unfortunately most ppl can’t see that. Our forefathers would weep if they saw the current state of affairs in this country. The exact reasons they made this new country & what they were trying to escape has come back around full circle thanks to these greedy corporate owners, politicians, etc.
That is capitalism for you and what Americans want.
@@karlabritfeld7104 I'm American and NOT what I want!
Blame the Miami condominium boom in Florida for real estate inflation in Florida!! In the early 1990’s back, you could buy a nice mobile home with the land under it for about $15,000!!
Never buy where you don't own the land ..you don't own the land you don't own the house
I knew something was not right about this mobile hmm Park as soon as they told me "YOU'RE ALLOWED TO HV 2 CATS". I ASKED, I AM BUYING THIS RIGHT? AND WHEN YOU PURCHASE A HOME THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON HOW YOU LIVE IN YOUR OWN HOME! ISN'T THAT TRUE? NO ANSWER FOR ME.
You don't own the land, so they make the rules.
This park is Ranchero Village in Largo with rents well over $1000.00 a month!
That's nothing
A Trailer parkis like buying an expensive car, sleeping in it and paying rent.
It’s a classic example of the typical of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and this is going to keep increasing, human greed is off the charts
same song, different time
And it's all legal
Thanks Blowden, for the F mess this country is in.
It's been a mess for 50 years
This is disgusting 😤
They aren't getting picked on or singled out. They didn't sign their lease agreements by the due date. That's on you.
Not a slam dunk. The company could have changed communications from physical mail to electronic and then titled the message innocuously to mask it's importance and deadlines. Some companies are certainly not above using shady tactics to take advantage of people, especially seniors.
Well, the problem is that greed is going to have a lot of people out of their homes. I pray for these home owners
What was the final outcome?
Winner: Park Owners. Loser: Tenants.
Their property taxes are probably also doubling (the lot owners) .. has anyone asked that question ..?
The government will have to step in and put rent caps every where.
🤔 Well, the greed will catch up with them! They will soon realize that it is best to have 50% of something dependable than 100% of nothing😂
They'll just force em off, bulldoze it, & sell it to a land developer, & make millions on it.
They'll just tear it all up and build condos
Appalling 😳
Legal
How did these people think they were immune from inflation & rent increases?
So what happened? Such a cute park
Sad. I should be More surprised than I am...😠
And people wonder why I STILL work!
At first looked like apartment community where I lived at. Noahs Landing for mentally disabled, so yeah. 😢
They need to be reported for FRAUD, MORTGAGE FRAUD, FALSE ADVERTISING, YOU ARE NOT BUYING THE MOBILE HOME!! THAT IN ITSELF IS MORTGAGE FRAUD.
How much and need rent
1:55
2 bed room 1 and half bathroom
Now it comes to them smh. It’s been happening for years to everyone else.
Never buy a house on land you don't own.
Where’s Ron ?
Damn
Two world wars fought and won for who ? By who and for this , who really won
So much for "Affordable Housing." There will be more homeless people in the future for sure.
Can't afford to live.
Slick......
Lady in red dress is beautiful.
I think it is cruelty to the elderly !!!!!!!!!
All the desirable states want the richest people & force out the lessers. Once the "poorer" people have been driven out, rents & mortgages rise because they know rich people from fly over states will come since there are vacancies. They'll keep pushing the envelope to get the highest bidder.
It is all legal.
Mobile home parks should be banned.
Time to lock and load. If you can't beat then bury them.
they are advantage of your ignorance of not knowing the laws. you are not stupid.
Reality do not do it duh!
Boomers need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get a 2nd job. My thoughts & prayers go out to them!
@thewarisover6478 Easier said than done in a lot of cases...
Nobody wants to hire people over the age of 55. No one.
Need to investigate these corporations and find out who all the shareholders are and all of the President Vice President. Any type of management on the top level and make what there doing public.
It's time to cause great pain on the rich
