Top runners of games are literally never happy with their times, even if there are only a few frames of improvement left. You know the run is actually good when the runner goes "this run sucks" lmao. I think he'll be happy and pop off when he gets sub 3. Another, and likely the last hour break this category will ever see.

Imagine Miyamoto watching this, probably thinking: "What have they done to my game ???" Seriously, can a game be MORE destroyed than this? It´s like ZFG is walking around in the code rather than playing a game.
SRM is _very_ close to full on arbitrary code execution. With SRM, you can manipulate essentially anything on the heap (a specific section of RAM, which contains most if not all of the currently loaded room, player, and "entity" data). Since the heap also contains function pointers (locations of RAM that contain game code, rather than object data), you can execute pretty much any "pre defined" game code you want (this is what the SRM for the arbitrary FW warping is doing, using the butterfly's render function pointer, I think). So, SRM is pretty much as far as you can go without full on ACE (this is my understanding as a programmer, not as an OOT speedrunner)

I think these issues are resolved by ruling that you must make the game appear as though it was completed 100% legitimately (i.e. everything chest is opened). But OoT speedrunner have some prejudice against collecting maps and compases for some reason.

One day, Summoning Salt is going to make an OoT 100% video, and it will almost entirely be a celebration of ZFG's prowess just like the Ninja Gaiden one was for Arcus.
He got it at 2:46:15. He skipped it after the Barinade fight because he needed to die during princess Ruto's dialog in order to setup the Farore's Wind warp (which skips the following cutscene and warps to his angle). Getting the HC then would restore all his hearts, which would take a long time to damage down again. So he gets the HC when going after other bosses, since all of the bosses have the same room number* (which affects where Farore's Wind warps). *I think it's the room number. It might also be room coordinates. He explained it in the LOTAD for this route
Possibly the hardest speed run of any game (besides super long endurance runs) and ZFG just keeps bumping down the record. Unstoppable force meets immovable object and the force is winning.
He goes to kak, and he does cuccos in two parts. The first time after escape, zfg puts two cuccos in the pen and then he leaves to BOTW. The reason why he does this, is because cucco information is saved, so if he puts in two cuccos now, the game will remember that there were two cuccos when he returns. Later on in the run he gets the rest of the cuccos. zfg explained a while ago that this new way of getting cuccos is faster, but I dont really know why
@@UnintendedSheep It's because he does it during he time he'd otherwise have to wait for Navi in order to get to Bottom of the Well with the Navi method (rather than cuckoo dive). Navi method is faster and more consistent than cuckoo dive so by filling that time with putting the two cuckoos in, it basically becomes a pure timesave for getting the bottle later.

I just realized how harmful it might be for the young minds to experience Gambling on a platform that has already rewired there brain mechanics through audio and visual stimulation. complete with communication. This is a very serious problem for young people who have addictive personality traits. Which cell phones and computers may already be responsible for those traits in young people... it’s a perfect storm and it’s really subtle.

Umm honestly I never considered it. Born and raised in Toronto Ontario and I never was interested in politics of other countries. I assume it’s to save young minds from the harmful and long lasting effects of gambling.

Even though I'm excited to see a sub 3 in the horizon, I miss the 5 hour runs where you played the game properly as fast as you can, not going diagonal and running and jumping through limbo in order to skip a few rooms. This feels wrong, improper.
Unfortunately this isn't very entertaining. I feel like I should be amazed but I'm not sure. Speedruns need to be somewhat grounded in reality I suppose.
