It's almost like you believe death is some type of horrible thing but God allowed his disciples to suffer gruesome deaths as martyrs. Do you or do you not believe the words of Jesus when he said I go to prepare a place for you? Meaning, those who have passed have a permanent home. Do you or do you not believe the inspired words of Paul when he wrote: Absent from the body, present with the Lord? Or, when he wrote to die is gain?
