Gabby Barrett sings “Don't Stop Believing" Steve Perry in Audience American Idol 2018 Finale Top 3
Former Journey lead singer Steve Perry gave one American Idol contestant the surprise of a lifetime this weekend after her performance of the band’s hit “Don’t Stop Believin'”.
Perry was in the audience during Gabby Barrett’s final performance on Sunday night’s episode, although Barrett wasn’t aware of it until after she finished the song.
“Oh my gosh, I know who that is,” screamed Barrett as Perry laughed from the audience.
“She was amazing, that’s my critique,” said Perry when invited by the show’s judges to give his opinion. He also claimed it was “the most amazing version” he’s ever heard. - เพลง

I'm 59 years old now, I was standing in the 8th row center stage watching Steve sing his heart out to this song way back in 1981 at 18 years old outdoors in the summer with string bikini's on girls everywhere you looked. It was a show I will never forget in my youth. There will never EVER be a Journey without him.

Journey was iconic and I'm so glad I got to grow up as a teen in the 80s with them and so many other great bands. If only we could create a time machine and bring those groups into 2023 to show all the current groups what real music is.

This was from 2018, when he had just turned 69, he is 74 now and in decline. I saw a short video recently of him hanging out backstage with the Temptations and not only has his hair gone completely white, but he seems to be shrinking.
@@nancywyatt821, I think he looks GREAT with his natural white hair! Black hair when you get into your 60’s is just not natural-looking, so I’m thrilled he made that decision. Joe Elliott of Def Leppard did too, in the past year or so, and both men are silver foxes if you ask me! ❤️

On the band's entry into Rock n Roll hall of fame though no longer lead singer he got one of the longest applause and cheers about 10 minutes till he asked them to stop. Fans still love him he was journey and made journey great. The best vocalist ever.
Journey found a great new lead singer though. Sounds just like Steve. Which allows them to keep touring even when Steve can't hit those high notes anymore.

And he wanted to be with her taking care of her. And then later when they all reunited he broke his hip. I honestly think he was afraid of the surgery which is why he kept postponing it. Seen Journey in concert in 1983, then Steve Perry solo 1997, both great shows. Been to over 75 concerts in my life covering several genres, Journey in 1983 was the best of all of them.
I would have passed out of the LEGEND of all LEGENDS not only watched me sing his song but said what he said. What an honor.

I remember being 13 years old and my mother wouldn't let me go see Journey in 82. Damn her! My sister was older and got to go with her friends. Great albums. Timeless music that can never be replicated.

I met Steve Perry backstage when that song was on the charts. He was one of the nicest rockstars I have ever met. He seemed really surprised at the almost "we aren't worthy," crowd trying to be really close to him.
I'm a straight male, and I'd probably give him a hug! He is THE best voice ever to grace the radio waves and I'm privileged to have seen Journey 3 times with him.
Of all the music celebrities in the world, I rate his (and the other band members) song writing ability right up there with Paul McCartney and john Lennon.
