@@TravisStevensgrappling Question, in judo, when it comes to throwing, are you bending you back over when throwing them over, or is it more like a twist from you core when throwing them over?
That last seionage was beautiful. What a shame about the no leg touch. I immediately retired from comp and judo in general after that. Ankle picks were so much fun.
@@TravisStevensgrappling I recently picked up that last seionage with the second arm not going for the legs but just going on top of his arm. And i don't really know why it works, but they rotate to your back when you lift them and then you can just drop them.
@@TravisStevensgrappling That last throw was dope. I had blown up my shoulder and couldn't raise my arm enough to put them in the elbow pocket for a proper seoi nage, so I started getting lazy and pulling them across my shoulder similar to that, but I found bracing off the shoulder I could generate some incredible torque for monster throws, but it tends to be painful for the uke, so I stopped, but it was fun.
I believe number 2 was the one used by Koga? I don't get the idea behind it though. How does splitting them with your right leg help in getting the throw?
Great video. Version number 5 is the best. It 's like a combo of ko uchi maki komi and seoi nage? I remember Riki Nakaya used to do this version with great success.
Also a specific question, how do you deal with injuries as a competition judoka? Right now I have a runner's leg (knee injury) and I feel like I can barely walk the stairs or run. But still I really want to practice and fo randoris. Im really dont want to lose my form.
I really love your competition seoi nages... to perform standing ones at your level of is amazing... how do you set up the grips and what’s your entry?
I don't get it how can u throw him so easilly even though your center of gravity isn't that low compared to his? in my school we learned that most of the nage waza require a really low stance to be able to do it properly and personally I feel that way if I don't lower my center of gravity I will struggle with it can u plz explain this to me?
Thank you for this video!! I've been wanting to learn different footwork/entries for this throw for the longest time! Im curious at to what the other 3 variations were. Also do these entries only work for ippon seoi nage?
I don't know why,I just find doing seio nave, unnatural and inconvenient for me,I always switch to and do only tai otoshi naturally, I will use this videos for my tai otoshi entry and attacks, nice video
@@TravisStevensgrappling Thats true also because we have even more variations of different throws. The only thing that I feel against about taking away leg takedowns is that schools aren't doing enough leg takedowns or none because they train more competively for competition. Thats just losing a bit of the art and what judo actually started from.
I was watching your highlights th-cam.com/video/1yRpk_LZsxo/w-d-xo.html and at the 1:38 you do somekind of sode or seoinage variation. Could you break that down?
why is the last version not legal in today's judo? I don't ask for political reasons, I'm asking about the logistics, what gesture is he doing that is not allowed?
No 5 is exactly why I subscribed to this channel thank u
learn the rules like a pro so you can bend them like an artist ! great video
Excellent stuff! You mind sharing the lifting technique in combination with the footwork in a future video as you mentioned at 2:06?
Yes I can work on making a video.
@@TravisStevensgrappling Thank you!

Very nice. Quick and clean
Always cool throws!
Judo for tall guys pls!
Just use your length and get your leg to the outside and your hand to their neck! I'll make a video though.
Hey Travis, thanks for this video! Can you show us Sode? Specifically how the japanese do it (with one arm like Hashimoto). Thanks!
Very cool.....add it to my list .....

I agree.

The last one is a cool throw!
I use to love doing it.

Thats are to answer throw text. I might have to make a video on that.
@@TravisStevensgrappling Hey! Did you ever get around to making that video?
Travis - will you please please please go over exactly how your right arm is best positioned during seoi nage? What you want to do to they arm, etc
Yeah maybe I can shoot an in-depth video on Ippon Seoi Nage with a focus on how to not get your right arm stuck.
Great video. Version number 5 is the best. It 's like a combo of ko uchi maki komi and seoi nage? I remember Riki Nakaya used to do this version with great success.
Yes it's a very popular version on the IJF Circuit!

Hey could you do a tutorial on the seoi nage uchimata fusion you do ive seen is somewhere can't remember where

I might have to make a whole video on that as it's a lot of information to just type.
Travis Stevens that’s exactly what I was hoping!! 😀
how much of this is natural reactions compared to thoughts?

Also are there certain situations for each specific footwork
They can work for other throws as well!
last one is a variant of soto muso.. ,Kimura used it against Takahiko Ishikawa away back when

"Im gonna fix this before you throw me again"
Yes interesting !

Isn't this Ippon Seoi Toshi?
Очень круто 💪
nice
Awsome
Can you go more in depth on #5 in its own video?
I have it on my list due to popular request.
Fuji mat!!
👍👍👍👍
That last throw was sick. The sad thing is how judo changed the rules by taking away leg takedowns 😞
I do miss the leg grabs but I think judo is a lot better because we took them away.

@@TravisStevensgrappling Out of curiosity, what makes you think that?
@@Kalernor My 2 cents
It makes Judo more about the throw than the take down, which is what differentiates Judo from Wrestling

Looks like Seoi Otoshi.
Nakaya Riki performs the lifting variation with modern grip rules:

I watched the video and it's not quite the same thing. While he does life he doesn't enter like a ko ouchi.

I touch the leg with my right arm.
