Idk if Caleb is a bust. But because all of these networks called him a can't miss prospect. They'll go to the end of the earth and blame everyone else including the water boy, before they call him a bust. Excuses will always be made for him
@ddm62571 yes, more than half the sacks in the NFL are the fault of the QBs. That is why when Brady or Manning went to a team the sack rate drastically reduced
Yeah so Thom Brady said it so what? Thom is off his rocker at this point, after being exposed full throated and beefed out very raw over a very long period of time... Thom no longer has the ability to emotionally regulate so he goes hog wild at the drop of hat brugh he was chasing a cat around the studio three months ago they had to cut to comercial brugh it was wild. Thom is totally off his rocker.
The problem with saying just get him an O-Line and good coach and he'll be good is that even in college, he wasn't always the best on schedule QB. That has been an issue with his game for a while. It's just being made even more apparent in the NFL. Not saying he can't become better at it, but it's not a for sure thing.
Caleb should have to compete for that starting job next season. He has had too much hype and too many excuses. He had it way too easy in the preseason by barely playing. If he can't legitimately beat out Bagent (or whomever it might be), he doesn't deserve to start. I'm not willing to gamble that he'll have some miraculous growth to his game in the off season. Make him earn it. It will be better for him and the whole team.
Mark knows it's hard to block for a quarterback when you don't know where he is . Had the same problem with USC . It made it look like the offensive line was not performing . The bears offensive line looked like Caleb which is like a chicken with his head cut off . Caleb is not the escape artist he showed us in college . Even the big defensive lineman are catching him . They are locked in on him like a heat seeking missile. He played the game as a crisis game manager . Yes he makes some spectacular plays but as we know a broken clock is correct twice a day . Now he is a rookie and can he learn the game and settle down ? Don't know . Hasn't shown a hi IQ of the game . Doesn't look like he wants to be there . He probably has not been in this spot playing football . He has always been praised which makes him less humble to being coached
To Mark’s point. Everyone thought Sam Darnold was a bust. Then he goes to Minn who has a very good coach. Good line. Excellent offensive weapons. Great D that gives the O time to rest. And Darnold looked like a MVP.
There's two aspects to that. One, situation absolutely matters, and people like Nick Wright, who believe in the myth of a quarterback that is so good that they can succeed regardless, need to wake up to that. Patrick mahomes is maybe the best quarterback ever, but he would not have succeeded in an awful situation. Sam Darnold would not have had this success if he had to start for the 49ers this year. Two, Sam Darnold is a seventh year player, and this is his first good year. So he was a bit of a bust. He always had great physical attributes, but the experience and processing ability weren't there. So that should also be a warning to guys like Colin and Nick who value physical traits over everything else
