That's not really a good observation. Williams is a rookie on a bad team, but he shows plenty of potential for the future. Fields tended to blow games through bad mistakes at the worst moments. (And I like Fields and hope he ends up having a great career, but he was often very bad with the Bears)
@williamhermann6635 yets his passer rating is better, completion percentage is better, qbr is better, and he's won thr same amount of games, yet he hasn't played since week six. Wild stuff
@AlYrvan Williams is close to setting the bears alltime pass yds record for a season. Other nfl teams would trade multiple 1st round picks for Caleb right now. Fields was traded for a 6th rounder. You dont know better than all 32 nfl teams. This isnt even a debate.
Bears' fans came at me before the season started when I said this year's are not making the playoffs. They were the media darlings and some so-called football expert picked them to go to the Super Bowl! 😂 I said Celeb will end up like the previous top pick QBs in Bears' history and so far, he's heading that route.
The Bears get hype every year then fall on their face. Next year they’ll be talking about winning the division and then the Super Bowl, they’ll fall short again.
People keep assuming its just getting someone to work with Caleb I thought he was generational plus Bears have alot of wholes probably an new O line and no pass rush
The National media is so clueless on the Bears situation. Ryan Poles is the reason the O-line looks like this. He walked out of training camp saying this was the best line he’s had since being the GM. They were better last year. But the biggest problem is that he hasn’t invested in either line other than 1 draft pick and paying a mid D lineman in Sweat. Poles is the root of the problem.
You guys got it backwards. The mutiny in the locker room started when Eberflus blamed Stephenson for the loss while also saying the previous play which allowed Washington to get into position to throw the Hail Mary didn’t matter. Eberflus had been blaming the players publicly while denying his own culpability going back to last season and the Washington game was just the last straw.
Can’t see why Johnson would want to coach the Bears outside of Williams. Great fans but ownership is a joke. Similar to what the Lions used to be they are nice people with no clue how to build a winner
How are you picked number 1 overall and can’t read a defense and need all of this help to succeed? Should have been picked lower then. Not saying he can't be good but definitely a mistep placing him that high.
When you watch Daniels, Nix, Maye and Pennix play all you can come up with is that Caleb's play looks a lot like Spencer Rattler's season this year. He as a 5th rounder. Caleb should have been a 3rd rounder.
Stephenson was over there popping of on DK Metcalf, joking around with the other defensive players. I get the feeling, Tyrique is going to be good but, a rookie 2nd round pick, defensive player of the week in their first season, with a substitute teacher HC, and and team with no apparent internal leaders? Whadareyagonnado?
you know back during the draft a lot of annalists were saying what a great place for caleb to go, but, they drafted and went to free agency for offensive weapons instead of linemen 1 less receiver and better offensive linemen!
Bro its the offensive line is all i here . Yet dude holds the ball longer then anyone else in the league . Dude just aint the guy . Looks overwhelmed looks scared . They upgraded there offensive weapons and he looks way worse the justin fields looked in the same offense with less weapons
I agree with a lot of what was said here. What I don’t agree with is the “just run the ball do a tush push”. As easy as that seems there is A LOT that goes into it being successful. That is way you don’t see Mahomes and Jackson doing it. I like how Ravens are now using a tight end for the sneak. Your QB has to have the build for that “tush push” example Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts. Sadly a good team would have a play installed for the situation. Bears are just not a good organization. I’m not a Bears fan, I’m a Bills fan and was actually born at USC hospital. I was born and raised in Socal. I like to see these guys succeed. I’m glad Darnold is finally on the right track.
The Florio- Rodney Harrison combo has had a rocky, sometimes painful start. BUT- RH the gritty, somewhat full-o- himself veteran could turn out to be a great foil for Florio. Simms pairs so well with Florio partially due to a quirky shortcoming, that he can't really speak the English language. Let Harrison interrupt or go on rants and maybe that'll make for a cool dynamic like Florio has with Simms.
Ben Johnson is the guy I want for the Bears as well. My only caveat is maybe getting Vrabel, provided he brings Josh McDaniels in as the OC. I don't think McDaniels will ever get another look at being a head coach. So you could have the type of stability you want on the offensive side along with a proven head coach who will change the culture of that organization.
Been a fan for 60 years. Bears fans are proudly, apologetically, disillusional stupid dreamers including me. Look at who we vote for to get an idea of the smarts of the average Bears fans then look at the performance of the vaunted Chicago Public Schools. Get it now?
Maybe I'm not a conventional guy, but hiring an offensive-minded coach has been such a disaster more often than not. As a Giants fan, I've had to sit through three years of Brian Daboll and the reality that many of these coordinators are just that. He is inconsistent with fourth down decisions, can't manage relationships within his staff and his offense looks pedestrian without a generational QB. Hire Pete Carroll. He has a Super Bowl ring, coached in another. He has experience working with a franchise QB and boisterous personalities. The man coached 14-seasons in Seattle, just three losing seasons. Yet, talking heads will clamor for Ben Johnson or someone who has zero HC experience.
I do agree with Rodney on the cutting Stevenson. Tough thing to do and he’s a good, young player (who had a good game vs Washington, btw), but the message needed to be sent. Sometimes, you need to sacrifice a battle to win a war.
It wouldn’t have any difference… would’ve sent the wrong message and another team would just get a talented cb for free. Not how the nfl works. Players who are talented/high draft picks don’t even cut for serious crimes. Cutting Stevenson would’ve resulted in at possibly a better effort against the cardinals… in a game they lost by 20+. Would’ve been pointless to a young talent starved team
Rodney never listened/understood what Florio was saying about Cousins/ATL either. Not saying he doesn't have a unique perspective but it's broadcasting 101
Why do the Bears have to get an offensive guy for Caleb? Just hire the right guy. The teams culture is much more important than just making Caleb look good. Of course you have to be comfortable with the offensive system whichever coach plans to implement. Pete Carroll wouldn’t be a bad hire, he’s built winning cultures before, my only concern would be his age and therefore how long he could be our coach.
I agree, no guarantees that Williams will develop. Need a coach for the team. Ability to lead, command the room, hold accountable, build culture, instill discipline and sense of team. Not a QB whisperer or some first time cheap coordinator as HC. Johnson might be the next Shanahan but doubtful. I'd rather have Dan Campbell than Johnson as HC which is what the Lions did. Johnson was on the staff of the previous staff and did nothing to impress the Lions as HC material. They went all in with a leader not an egg head.
@@abelincoln6785 yes and the Bears were a prime example of this when they hired Matt Nagy to develop Trubisky. I like Ben Johnson’s offense but there is no guarantee that he would take the Bears job, he’s looking for the right opportunity, he could’ve took a job last year and no one truly knows if he can lead a locker room. Someone like Mike Vrabel is someone I would seriously consider but it’s seems like they’re wanting an offensive guy.
The Bears staff failed. The offensive line is bad. The plays are awful. Caleb holds the ball far too long. The defense did well for the first time in several games. The Bears proved they deserve last place.
Russel Wilson, Geno Smith, and Matt Leinart all played much better under Pete Carroll. That's not a coincidence. He's a culture builder with a great record.
“You’re quarterback is only as good as your offensive line. If your QB play sucks it’s mostly because of the o line.” Remember your own words next time you call other QBs crap when their offensive lines suck. These media folks know they say stuff without remember basics like he just admitted yet trash players all the time. Sickening.
Florio speaks in non specifics all the time. Hey Mike - explain to me how Manning won a SB with Denver behind a terrible line, explain to me how Burrow succeeded in getting to the conf championship when leading the lead in sacks taken. What a lazy media schmuk.
@@abelincoln6785 Yep. CIN O-Line this season is ranked #28 in the NFL. And Burrow has had the best season of his career. Leading the league in passing yards and passing TDs.
How old is the Bears team? They hold an original Charter for sports. They have been NFC North since 2002. That is the same year Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The Bears began as AE Staley Decatur. Their train is Tate and Lyle. Look how Dawn Staley is treated. Seahawks has been an expansion team since, 1976. The Bears are over 100 years old.
@@abelincoln6785 Oh I do. I study the old structure of the teams. Why is the Black Sox Scandal of 1919 never discussed? The Bears are an elder team. They are over 100 years old and began in Maryland.
The Bears are a mess currently but that's not cuz of talent. Its prob the most attractive place to go to for a HC prospect. They get the right guy at the helm the Bears will be far better right away
But the Bears cannot figure out what the guy looks like. They always hire the same type. Lets see if they do it again. Bears coaching formula is this - new unproven coordinator guy preferred but will take washed up grandpa like John Fox - they come cheap and are undemanding. They also have to be good at saying nothing that will disparage the franchise. They have to be a wholehearted supporter of DEI - hire a woman or two. They have to be married with a family. They must never swear. They should be Catholic if possible and a God fearing person at least. They have to agree to a short term contract. Virginia must see some inkling of a nice little boy in them - so they can escort her to church. Finally and I will say this again, the coach has to come cheap. Cheap and meek. By that definition Flores is out - too controversial. Mike Vrable is out - he can be outspoken and demanding, Carrol is too expensive and old, meaning uncontrollable. Same with McCarthy. Shanahan would never qualify - again too expensive. That leads to only one sure candidate - the lions coach - not the OC but the DC - Glenn. You heard it here first. Johnson will return to the Lions of go to Jacksonville or one of the NY teams for the money.
Go get a bounty-minded head hunter coach like Sean Peyton, who will retire before they investigate him for giving bonuses to players for hurting starting quarterbacks. THEN, come back with no investigation because the NFL Cartel is COMPLICIT.
At this point they definitely bear some of the responsibility. They gotta take ownership of the performance out there on the field. Train more, research more, do something cause they look like they are quitting out there.
McCarthy is not under contract and may want out of Jerry's insane world. McCarthy won in the Bear's division and is an offensive coach with good record with Cowboys and Packers. He also worked several years with Aaron Rogers. He also has a Super Bowl ring.
Nah that's an exaggeration, more like for the better part of 35 years. They were a great team for a few yrs b4 & after 85. And let's not forget the Lovie yrs. Bears were well respected 06-11.

That's not really a good observation. Williams is a rookie on a bad team, but he shows plenty of potential for the future. Fields tended to blow games through bad mistakes at the worst moments. (And I like Fields and hope he ends up having a great career, but he was often very bad with the Bears)
But hey. It was all Justin Fields fault lol 😂😂
That is so over man.
@@abelincoln6785 it's the arrogance
Fields isnt good either
@williamhermann6635 yets his passer rating is better, completion percentage is better, qbr is better, and he's won thr same amount of games, yet he hasn't played since week six. Wild stuff
@AlYrvan Williams is close to setting the bears alltime pass yds record for a season. Other nfl teams would trade multiple 1st round picks for Caleb right now. Fields was traded for a 6th rounder. You dont know better than all 32 nfl teams. This isnt even a debate.
If a QB they like looks bad, it's the offensive line. If it's a QB they don't like, he's a bust.
How do you explain Burrow leading the league in sacks and going to the conference championships? Wrong answer sport.
I agree 100% about cutting Tyrique after that major screwup on the hail mary
Bears' fans came at me before the season started when I said this year's are not making the playoffs. They were the media darlings and some so-called football expert picked them to go to the Super Bowl! 😂 I said Celeb will end up like the previous top pick QBs in Bears' history and so far, he's heading that route.
Smart kids always get disrespected. Good on you.
The Bears get hype every year then fall on their face. Next year they’ll be talking about winning the division and then the Super Bowl, they’ll fall short again.
Like Charley Brown and Lucy.
The Chargers of the NFC
@@povertyspec9651 except with out the good quarterbacks.
People keep assuming its just getting someone to work with Caleb I thought he was generational plus Bears have alot of wholes probably an new O line and no pass rush
You are right.
As if drafting willamns as one wasn’t dumb enough
A WR at nine was worse
You are proving to be correct.
Excellent point
Bears fans like myself know that nothing will change until mcaskeys are gone. They are a curse
you know back during the draft a lot of annalists were saying what a great place for caleb to go, but, they drafted and went to free agency for offensive weapons instead of linemen 1 less receiver and better offensive linemen!
But wait all u said he was in best situation ever for a rookie QB
Provided that rookie could play.
Bro its the offensive line is all i here . Yet dude holds the ball longer then anyone else in the league . Dude just aint the guy . Looks overwhelmed looks scared . They upgraded there offensive weapons and he looks way worse the justin fields looked in the same offense with less weapons
As long as there are butts in stadium seats even when the team is horrible, what is the incentive for owners to change?
Ooof what is wrong with Rodney
Rodney got a mic 20 feet away?
Bears fans are loyal and very patient.
Depends on the team.
Depends on the man
Tyrique Stevenson really opened Pandora’s box
I cant finish the clip, Rodney is hard to listen to
I do agree with Rodney on the cutting Stevenson.
Ben johnson dont want that job wym 😂😂😂😂
Why do the Bears have to get an offensive guy for Caleb? Just hire the right guy. The teams culture is much more important than just making Caleb look good. Of course you have to be comfortable with the offensive system whichever coach plans to implement. Pete Carroll wouldn’t be a bad hire, he’s built winning cultures before, my only concern would be his age and therefore how long he could be our coach.
Because you have a rookie quarterback that needs to be developed.
@@cag19549 A competent non first time OC would also fix that.
It sucks that when you win 4 games you pick 9th? Huh? 9th?
Russel Wilson, Geno Smith, and Matt Leinart all played much better under Pete Carroll. That's not a coincidence. He's a culture builder with a great record.
Maybe Caleb will work it out with his next team? KOC's QB rehab clinic might have an opening in 2027.
JD5 never hit a rookie wall. They hit 3 pretty good teams!
No I'm not.
@@abelincoln6785 Yep. CIN O-Line this season is ranked #28 in the NFL. And Burrow has had the best season of his career. Leading the league in passing yards and passing TDs.
Explain what Ben Johnson has done that Byron Leftwich hasn’t?
He turned around a last place teams offense as a holdover on the previous teams staff. Leftwich - where is he again?
Ben Johnson is the 2024 version of Josh McDaniel
It’s Mike’s show, not Rodney’s🤔
How old is the Bears team? They hold an original Charter for sports. They have been NFC North since 2002. That is the same year Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The Bears began as AE Staley Decatur. Their train is Tate and Lyle. Look how Dawn Staley is treated. Seahawks has been an expansion team since, 1976. The Bears are over 100 years old.
Respect your elders dear MsNerd. It took the Cubs 100 years too. We in Chicago develop late in life.
It won’t hurt anything to play Tyson Bagent.
Please get Ben Johnson for head coach.
If the Bears would have just had 5-6 more DEI hires, they’d be on top again.
Firing coaches is an offseason move.
That is what Virginia says too.
Weather was very rough
Rodney: caleb is a rookie, he’s supposed to play grear, it’s not his fault
Also rodney: rome is odunze is a rookie but he needs to be better 💁🏻♂️
The paper bag fans have the right idea
Remember, it’s never the players fault!
At this point they definitely bear some of the responsibility. They gotta take ownership of the performance out there on the field. Train more, research more, do something cause they look like they are quitting out there.
Does Rodney do the show as apart of a divorce settlement? Dude invests zero into his set up
How are these two considered professional media analysts? You can find more coherent conversations about football in any sports bar…
Is Rodney using an iPhone for these appearances?
McCarthy is not under contract and may want out of Jerry's insane world. McCarthy won in the Bear's division and is an offensive coach with good record with Cowboys and Packers. He also worked several years with Aaron Rogers. He also has a Super Bowl ring.
Look at the bright side, with an early 1st round pick they should be able to draft a decent QB
So it takes Mike Florio to tell us what weve know the last 6 weeks
Thank God I grew up a Patriots fan, watching how garbage the bears have been for the past 44 years is just sad and pathetic.
worse than sad
its way longer than 44 years man.
Nah that's an exaggeration, more like for the better part of 35 years. They were a great team for a few yrs b4 & after 85. And let's not forget the Lovie yrs. Bears were well respected 06-11.
For Chicago Ben Johnson as an OC would be wonderful BUT NOT as a first time head coach in that dumpster fire sorry not gonna work out .
He is another Nagy, McDaniels etc. He is not a leader, he is an egg head.
Man. T J Edward's SHOULD have stuck with the Eagles 🦅.. 😖
Caleb Williams = no. Just a Diva with no bottle
He really is terrible
How to say you don't understand football without saying you don't understand football.
@@dogsbreakfast4952actually, he isn't
@@cag19549 Yes he is. Can't compare to the other rookies in that QB class.
Love most of the co-hosts, but not Rodney. He's gotta go.
Why? Because he calls out Florio when Simms is afraid to do so? Oh, that's right, Florio has all that legal experience. 😏
