    Thanks, Pippi! I knew, when I was trying to find out if I could paint the interior of my RV, when I saw your video! If anyone has "tried it" you are the "go-to-girl"! I am so grateful for your videos! Thank You!

    Couldn't have come at a better time! The previous owners of our rv painted over the wall paper and it looks like some of it the wall paper is starting to bubble and some of the paint is chipping off, so we have to retouch it up. Good to know about using oil based paint! Also, I'm looking forward to how you do your countertop, as I will be totally copying you! Our countertop looks almost identical to yours :)

    nicely done. Wallpaper in the cooking area of a RV is usually what we use to call "wallhide" it's a plastic surface type of paper that nothing seems to stick to and oh so important to clean well and use two coats of that oil primer. Oil paint would even be nice but so darn hard to find these days.

    Pippi,
    I really liked this video because I learned something important. The use of oil based primer. The timing was ideal because just yesterday I noticed some variations in my wall colors in my restored Airstream coach. So I was thinking of painting them. Im currently replacing my front air springs (bags) on my Aistream coach. Its a P 30 chassis. I think yours may be a P 30 chassis too. I will give a big plug for Air Lift. Customer service thats incredible and a no questions asked replacement warranty.
    Make you a deal. Come help me with the air bags ( very difficult) I will video you and I will help you with your next project.
    Ok, Im kinda kidding in an effort to get some free help. Lol.
    Keep up the great stuff. See you down the road.

    Hi Pippi, thanks for all of your informative videos. We've found so many to be helpful. I'm going to be painting our motorhome walls (we have a Fleetwood Bounder 😁) and I wondered if you tried to save/not paint over any warning and exit stickers on the walls. For example, near our stove there's one about the importance of ventilation... Not sure of the legality of having those or if it's moot once it's "off the lot". Also wondered if you've heard of Gripper--another RVer recommended it as the primer layer. Thanks again!!

    Hello, I know this is an old video but I'm looking at painting over some old wallpaper I have on one wall in my kitchen. Can you tell me did you use a low odor oil based primer and if not did you find it very smelly using the regular primer in a small space like your RV? I'm wondering if it's worth the extra expense to purchase a low odor oil based primer for my project. Thanks for mentioning the sanding too, I have one small area that has a tear in the paper. Not looking for perfection just a fresh wall! Thanks.

    I've been a home building and remodeling professional most of my life and I never recommend painting over wall paper. Granted, for the home owner/do it yourselfer it is a cheaper option. But it always looks cheap when it's done because the surface of the wall paper will never be the same as a finished wall. There are methods for removing wall paper from wood walls such as steaming or using a warm, wet cloth. You just have to be sure you don't over saturate the surface.

    • @debmarie55
      @debmarie55 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      BOS'N Not so sure she is wrong on the oil based primer. I recently remodeled my kitchen at home, stripped wallpaper off that had been up nearly 30 years, and it left residue from the glue. After several washings with a solution of wall paper stripper and Dawn dish soap, the glue still remained. I consulted a professional house painter for advice. He said to let it dry, then lightly hand sand the walls and apply one or two coats of oil based primer. The oil based primer seals in the residual adhesive, allowing you to paint over it. Water based primer will just reactivate the glue, leaving a lumpy painted mess. You can use oil based primer to prep walls that have water and mold damage also. It will seal the wall making it ready to paint. My kitchen walls look wonderful, and not one speck of that wall paper adhesive has shown through.

      @theartist124 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nicholas Maietta You're blowing my mind! Down here "all oils" anything, deck stain, primer, paint everything has been gone for years! I painted murals for twenty years, and all of the stores down here don't have any oils, all of the guys in the stores said they were going to be removed state-wide. I got into a situation where I had to have oil for the base boards in my place (not going to sand them down, you know), I happen to be down in Palm Springs and was able to buy their last two quarts they had.

    • @PippiPeterson
      @PippiPeterson  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vinni Arce Sure, it'd probably be more expensive on a bigger area but for a trailer it could do. It might smell stronger than regular paint and you'll have to do a better job of covering everything else in the surrounding area you don't want dusted with the paint. You'll have to watch more carefully to get an even covering over the surface, too. Best of luck!

    Ok , I call fake ! You don't really live " full time" in an RV . I think you have
    some other home . And with your good looks , why would you live like this ?
    Sorry , I'm just skeptical about the whole thing .It looks to good to be true.
