The Sims
In The Sims, you can order a pizza from a telephone at any time of the day. The delivery will take about an hour and he always brags about how he was able to arrive in less than an hour.
When your sim takes a slice of pizza, a slice will disappear from the box.
The Sims 2
In the Sims 2, sims can order a pizza from a telephone or a cell phone. There are several pizza delivery drivers in each neighborhood and they all come driving an old car. They even get out of the car and take the pizza out of the trunk!
The sim will open and smell the pizza on the spot. When your sim takes a slice of pizza, the slice, freaking, FLOPS. And every individual slice disappears from the box.
In the sims 2, there is a steam coming out of the pizza.
The Sims 3
In The Sims 3 , sims can also order a pizza from a telephone or a cell phone. The pizza costs §30
Similar to The Sims 2, there are Pre-made pizza delivery drivers in each world. The pizza delivery driver will appear out of nowhere and teleport from the car. Ehen taking the first slice the pizza will remain the same. Unfortunately, the slice of pizza doesn't flop like in The Sims 2. And there is no steam coming from the pizza
After taking few slices, two slices will dissapeer from the box. Then there will be two left and after taking the last slice, the box will become empty.
The Sims 4
In the sims 4 you can order pizza from your smartphone. There're different varieties of pizza available. Every type of pizza costs §25.
The pizza delivery person will appear out of nowhere and knock on your door. After taking the first slice the pizza will remain the same. After taking few slices, two will dissapear from the box. And like in The Sims 3, there is no steam coming from the pizza.
Sims eat pizza out of a plate. And there are many types of pizza available in the Sims 4

The Sims 2 was a work of art they can't seem to replicate or compare to again

It's not that they can't, it's that they don't want to, because that would increase their workload, reducing their margin of gain.
I feel like TS2 was the only sequel that had a clear goal in how to improve itself, that was executed well.
Like, in the original game, Sims are immortal, so you don't have a sense of urgency, progress, or change. When life cycles were introduced, that changed things sooo radically!
Then you had The Sims 3, where open-world and ultimate color/pattern customization were the big changes. I enjoyed TS3 a lot, but you needed expansion packs to really feel enough of a change that made it worth playing versus 2 imo.
Then you have TS4...Which admittedly I haven't even played a lot of...But I feel like the big upgrade was pretty Sims and pretty houses (ultimate fine-tune customization) which is great for people who enjoy those aspects most...but for everyone else, they asked, "Where are the toddlers and the pools and the cars??"
For a sequel of a game like this to work, you have to have a very defined and worth-it upgrade.
One of the best things of its decade
You can tell the people who worked on The Sims 2 really cared about their job. Outstanding detail.
People during 2000's were better compared to people these days.
It wasn't the people, it was EA. Sims 1 and Sims 2 were both produced by Maxis, who EA bought. The development of Sims was moved away from Maxis in 2006. Sims 3 was released in 2009.

I feel like the fact that the Sims 4 pizza looks the worst is a really great representation of how this series has been handled by EA

I love how detailed the animation looks in The Sims 2. The game is nearly two decades old and it still holds up.
Incredible how it's pretty much still an upgrade from Sims 4, open world in Sims 3 is everything though
It’s the little details that truly make The Sims 2 shine. Floppy pizza, hair physics, cushions that compress when a sim sits down. It feels like heart and soul was actually put into the game instead of making something that was made for cash (ahem TS4).
The sims 2 and The sims 3 are very similar in quality imo. The sims 3 just tends to focus on the big features (open world, individual skills, traits, etc) where the sims 2 focuses on more of the little details, and is missing some of the big features of the sime 3.
And sims 3's engine would probably have a hard time with all the little Details at Times (considering how buggy and Performance-nightmarish it was)

I like how in the Sims 2 the sim uses two hands to eat the floppy part of the pizza slice and when it's eaten they go on with just one hand. That's some detail

I may be wrong, but i saw somewhere on reddit that in the sims 2 pizza actually has two randomised types, but one of them doesn't appear because of some bug. Was it true or just my fewer dream... idk.

sims 2 was made when sequels had to actually be BETTER than the original. they put their whole bussy into that game and it still stands at one of the best ones. they even had a custom "create a sim" feature where you could paint custom skins to have things like tattoos or whatever, or even MADE YOUR OWN MODDED STUFF LIKE HAIR AND CUSTOM FACES. sims 2 is/was ELITE.

The Sims 1: the baseline
The Sims 2: the perfect evolution from the first game. While the neighborhood isn't really active since the only lot being active is yours, the amount of detail they crammed into one play space in order to make it as believable as possible was amazing.
The Sims 3: While it does indeed cut back on the smaller details such as water physics, hair physics, entering the car by teleporting instead of opening the doors,... it instead put effort in making the wider world outside your home feel alive. Inactive Sims actually go to work, go home, go grocery shopping, go to the park, hang out with family and friends at the park,... Inactive Sims live and grow along side your Sims.

One thing that Sims 4 does excel at over all other games is the amount of money you can spend on DLC content… so impressive. Why buy a whole game when you can collect all the fragments!!
@@averycheesypotato truly revolutionary. Not only do they cut out contents from the base game to sell it back to you, they also started to cut out contents from the DLC itself to sell it back to you. EA always pushes the boundary of what is possible and that is truly inspiring to witness.
In all seriousness, the worst part to me is that there are simmers literally "thanking" EA for "listening" to the fans and releasing the missing contents as "Expansion Pack". I swear, the state of Sims 4 is not solely EA's fault, the simming community shares some of the blame as well for enabling their behaviour. Though that's just my opinion.
The Sims 2 will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart.

I loved the animation of their car driving up haha. The vibration of it being on it's last legs yet was still putting in the effort to keep on driving.
The winner is absolutely Sims 2. I even wrote my uni degree on moviemaking in-game of the Sims 2, because I adore those small details that makes the game so much more "alive" than the other games
you can tell when EA had replaced Maxis almost entirely… Sims 1 and 2 are such works of art..
2 and 3* (in my opinion) the lore in 3 and details in 2 make them overall best
I would say that Sims 3 is in the list as well. A lot of people complaining about the cut back on details in Sims 3 seem to forget how much Sims 3 expanded *a lot* on the general world and in game content when compared to Sims 2.

As a kid I was so obsessed with The Sims that I would watch everything anything related to Sims 2 for any glimpse I could. I bought the ultimate game guide before the game came out, I watched interviews etc. One thing that has always struck me about Sims 2, is how how happy the developers are about the game, you can tell they not only are proud of it, but they actually enjoy playing it. As a long time simmer, I have been on Modthesims forever, and I have developers basically tell me they only play since it is their job. Absolutely disgusted what the Sims has become.
Side note I really love how you made basically the same house and sim in every iteration, it really lets you get an idea of the overall graphics and how they’ve changed in relation to the changes the pizza has made

I remember in Sims 1, your Sims would always go and wash their hands after having a pizza slice. Also, if you make them drop a slice on the floor, then pick it up and eat it, they will do it, but they'll keep saying 'bleh!' as they eat. I've always found it hilarious :D

@@mailenvelardez1123 That's due to the level of cooking skill points the Sim who made the burgers has. For the pizza too. If the game RNGs you a bad pizza maker the Sim will react by saying some kind of version of yuck. If it RNGs you a good pizza maker the Sim will be happy. The kids even literally say "ooh yummy" for the Sims 1.

I think one of the things I miss the most (unless they added it) was burglars. You required having a security system for insurance claims. As a kid when it was night in the sims and then a burglar shows up and the music changes.. gave the game a little more life.
My Sims never really order a pizza, but TS2 and TS3 looked like pizza. It really took a step backwards with TS4 even in the graphics department, although it shouldn't have. I can't remember if it was TS2 or TS3, but the way the water would run down the roof shingles during a thunderstorm was amazing. I would sit and watch that through an entire storm! I also miss the icicles that would form in winter. Pretty sure that was TS2, as well.

One day, you should truly try playing it. It’s got some fascinating lore behind some of the main characters/ families and whenever you play them, you can actually feel the deep dynamics and emotions within each character. For a simulation game, this is unparalleled!

The Sims 2 had tons of tiny details that really added to the level of realism in the game. It’s one of the reasons TS4 feels so much more one dimensional.
I played all sims and sims 2 is still my favorite. Its little details, even the pizza, made the game so immersive. It is still the best sims imo.

Something I remember from Sims 2 was that if you didn't accept the delivery it would be left on the lot for the sim to collect. Pizzas don't spoil so long as the box isn't opened, so it was entirely possible to have a stack of pizza boxes ready to go if your sim was in the mood.
Another thing from Sims 2 is that the delivery person can take objects from the family if you can't pay the delivery fee, although this applies to all NPCs (maids, mechanic, etc.) and not just pizza delivery. If you don't have any objects worth taking, they'll even comment on how poor you are.
Those little things always made the Sims 2 the best imo
In The Sims 4 pizza can also be ordered via the smart speaker, but the user of the smart speaker had no control over what topping they chose. It intended to cost §25 (the same as ordering a pizza via the phone) but due to a bug the cost of ordering the pizza via a smart speaker was §0.
There was also a bug in Sims 2, that if you paused just right, you could take out the pizza from the trunk in build mode (sometime around when the car stopped). If I remember well, the delivery NPC left after some time for not being able to deliver the pizza and you got a
pizza for free.
Yep, the little things show how much love and attention the developers had for the earlier game, gave the games a lot more persanoloty and charm

Watching this made me realize that the Sims 4 pizzas seem more like microwavable pizzas down to the fact that there's no true pizza mess in the box after it's gone, that grease spot isn't a true depiction of a legitimately fresh and hot delivered pizza. (And not to mention how rubbery/soggy the pizza itself looks)
I think the whole design of sims 4 is more simplified because it have a cartoony aesthetic.

Imo it doesn’t look rubber or soggy but most importantly what is this “true mess” you speak of? Very rarely is there more than a grease stain in my pizza boxes. I don’t know who your in pizza with or who you’re ordering from but sims 3 looks like they threw the pizza in the box wring side up and sims 2 looks like someone peeled off their cheese and threw it in the box. I’ve also never seen anyone fold over the boxes like they do in 2-4
Fun fact, the sims 2 has two varieties of pizza but the code is broken so it always comes out pepperoni. You can get a mod to fix it if you care.

I remember the TS3 Pizza was originally made for TS2, and can be found as an unused texture in the game files. There should have been two kinds of Pizza which would have been delivered at random, but something didn’t work, and that’s why you only get the Salami Pizza in TS2. However, there is a mod that fixes this.

We all took the pizza flop for granted when we had it.
Not only has it the most detail, Sims 2 also just has so much charm. Something as simple as ordering pizza and a beat down car struggles down the road, leaving a big puff of smoke behind, the care shakes as doors open, etc. So many things are like this in TS2 and it's why I still prefer it over anything else this franchise has done in the last 20 years :/
Sims 3 is good too, they clearly focused on different things in the gameplay. While I don't think the open world actually is necessary for The Sims, it's clear there was a big effort to enhance the gameplay. With the Sims 4 I honestly cannot tell where the effort went... building and CAS, I guess.. but that doesn't really make a life sim :/

Sims 2 was genuinely a masterpiece and a real product of love. All the details, all the small tiny touches, so many things that's easy to take for granted but they went ahead and did it, from the pizza flopping, to the pool water having physics.
I may like 3, but it took a lot of "small touches" out, going for the big picture. 4 Just kinda drops the ball in a lot of ways.
The absolute best Sims game would be Sims 2 + 3, all the finetuning and small details of 2, with the content of and open world of 3.

The fact that it just got progressively bad after sims 2 is an indicative of the issues in the company & how they value their product and the consumers. yes it is preferred when you want to look in depth, however, most sims players will not care about whether the pizza flops or not or does the steam come off the pizza.
They care about character design, facial features and options to interact. and thats what the company focused on.
ideally you want both, however, it is resource intensive to get more finer details and only few people will truly appretiate it.
@kr-sd3ni I beg to differ. considering how many people were downloading sims 2 back when it was free on origin I think details matter more to players than EA realizes but to apparently compensate they just went "oh look we added emotions for more in depth gameplay!" when in reality they left the actual in depth gameplay behind with the masterpiece maxis left us with. Alot of players do care if the pizza flops and has steam because then it becomes pizza not just a brick that looks like one.
I think Sims 4 isnt as bad, they are giving us an entire World with people living in it living their own lifes and giving us the hability to explore it

The flopping pizza slice is the one example my GF gave me to explain why the Sims 2 had a magical edge that the later games just didn't have anymore. She will never get over the flop-less pizza slice of the Sims 3.

The sims 2 is without any doubt the best sims game ever made. Attention to detail, good visual graphics, and expansions that had great new content, without going overboard like the ridiculous number of expansions in the the next sims games. We’ll never get another sims game like this one

The Sims 4 is by far the best game I've played as far as aesthetics go. However, the Sims 2 was just magical... I guess little things like this pizza are a great example.
I grew up playing Sims 3, also some Sims pets DS game - that was a weird one... but man watching this really makes me want to try out The Sims 2. I genuinely respect the level of detail here, makes me think more aspects of the game may have been treated with the same level of care.
You should try. A great game, especially superb in characters and business (the your-own-business part was really fun)
The Sims 2 is such an incredible game that I will always have such a tremendous love for. It feels the most like a life simulator while also being the whackiest one which is what is so endearing about it. Never thought a video about Sims pizza would make me so emotional, hehe

the gameplay factor in The Sims 2 is just superior, you can make your own bussiness from home, build apartments and put them for rent, there's a lot of details and gameplay functionalities that mades the game and it's expansions incredible. I think we will never seen anything like this from The Sims team

sims 2 hands down won this. It's a shame they lost a lot of the creators and workers from sims 2 and 3. Sims 4 is still fun but it lacks a lot of the sims 2 and 3's pillars and standard things that should come with the game like the pizza, or teaching your teens how to drive, or even letting pets have jobs.
The Sims 4 is removing charms of Sims 2 and 3 had.

For the one who played since The SIMS 1, I always love the Sims 2 for paying attention on the detail. Not only for the pizza, when the preparing food, sleep, taking a bath/shower, and many more

@@adrianblake8876 I agree with this. I would actually say that in many ways, the Sims 3 is the best one, but it’s not my personal favorite. The Sims 2 will always have my heart.
@@sam_ugh Sims 3 offers the most control, I think (It's the one I play the most because of the Create-A-Style tool, which is phenomenal, and I like the open world) , but Sims 2 had an amazing amount of charm and detail!

its really cool to see that the TS2 sim bites the pizza carefully to not get food on her face, wipes the grease off her mouth and wipes the pizza crust crumbs off of her chest! i dont play TS2 and ive never did so idk if this happens with any other food but its nice to see those little realistic details
I have over 80 game mods for S4, which makes it awesome , but without them it’s boring
TS2 was just such a huge improvement from the original game, I think that's part of why it's so beloved. It did so much with the emerging 3D graphics of the time: future games have largely just iterated on what TS2 first established, with mixed success. There hasn't been any "great leap" like there was between TS1 and TS2, which is a terrible shame. TS4, if anything, clawed back some of the interesting ideas of TS3 (which weren't always implemented very well, to be fair) in pursuit of better performance.

I blame sims 2 for my pizza addiction. It looked SO FRICKING DELICIOUS!!! And it looking this realistic didn't help either.
The Sims 2 is the winner. The attention to detail is amazing. The steam, the way the pizza flops, the way the slice disappears as she eats it. I hope we see some of this in the Sims 5.
Wow 🤩 credit to the sims 2 creative engineers! That was the best overall pizza delivery, pizza look; ong the flop of the pizza 🍕 made my mouth drop. I forgot how good the sims 2 was sometimes I forget how detailed they made it. Thank you for this cute comparison video ❤

nothing compares to the love for details and animations the sims team had in sims 2. the pizza, the sliding down the stairs, the snuggles in the bed when a couple is asleep, the tucking in of the siblings or kids in the bed (and they did this without me clicking anything), the making out on the sofa (that part altered my brain chemistry for sure - the making out on the couch in the later games esp sims 4 is not comparable), the cut scenes for births, birthdays and woohoos, etc.

It's unbelievable that there is no progress these days. Instead, regression! At least as of Sims2 it has develops backwards!
Example of how the pizza delivery service comes: Sims1: He is walking. Sims2: It's a woman and she comes with a car. Sims3: A car appears out of nowhere. He appears next to his
car instead of getting out. Sims4: You can't even see whether the pizza delivery guy is walking or coming by car. He appears at the door out of nowhere. From Sims2 onwards, the pizza also looks more and more unreal and uglier and more cartoon-like!
Sims 2 is still the most fun today, after about 20 years. ❤ It is more detailed and better than the newer ones. You can feel how much love and dedication every little detail was thought out and designed with. This dedication was trampled on in the newer parts.
The pizza in all of Sims games series is always pepperoni pizza, but in third game, they added olives and in fourth, they added a list of it.

The delivery animation is amazing, despite the character driving in a put-put 🤭 I like the stream coming off the pizza, and the slice disappearance (it even left pizza stains after each removal) such a nice touch and perfect attention to detail! And honestly... The pizza looked very realistic! I hope future Sim games won't appear into places, but will actually drive or walk into the scene.
This is why Sims 2 was my favorite. The little details were everything.
Also the delivery person gets out of the car and takes the pizza from the trunk 😮 the attention to detail ❤️
I never played TS2 but now I wish I had. It seems far superior in almost every way.
Just play it then? Its still a solid game.
I'd also reccomend 1, if only to get a sense of what the series was intended to be initially (highly stressful management sim intended to give the feeling of no time) and how the dlcs clearly inspired the direction of 2 (more focus on achieving stuff as an individual and going on mini adventures than just survival), of which inspired the direction of 3 (overboard focus on outgoing behavior, emphasis on dynamism and generational change).
3 basically fails at its goals but at least was based off prior learned knowledge, 1 and 2 are very solid games with somewhat confused dlc. 4 is a total mess seemingly divorced from prior lessons.
