Nick930 Crash Twinsanity is the sequel to Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex.
Crash Bandicoot 4 was amazing, I think i wouldn't like to see Crash Bandicoot in big open world, yep yep, something like this was in ps2 games, but I mean big open world and the fact that we saw 4 th part last year means it is not the end of journey of crash bandicoot
Can't I just donate something once @Nick930? I don't need all the extras, just want to thank you for the graphics comparison videos
I already have CTRNF for the Nintendo Switch.
I've been a crash bandicoot gamer for 27 years and they're still awesome, I do have little bit of thoughts about tawna's removal in the later games in the past, as it turns out, Coco Bandicoot (crash's little sister) is not tawna's replacement, sony and naughty dog had no problem with tawna at all due to her design being sexialized in a family friendly game but the game itself is for kids and adults, they wanted coco and tawna in the game but sadly universal interactive forced them remove tawna and keep coco so that's why tawna never returned in the later games in the past.
So bascially Universal studios kept butting in and ruined the games.
Pretty much
Yup and kept putting the blame on talented studios like Travellers tales
Just like they did youtube
Yep. Just like they did with Spyro. 😩

Proud to say I watched the whole thing.
Crash 2, 3, CTR, Nitro Cart and Bash were some of my top childhood games.
Also watched all of it, and I can't wait for the new game!
@@yahikotendo5631 me 2 great vid 🤗💜
Bash 😌
@@ff-klaw1375 sorry, i must of misunderstood your comment, i thought you said crash bash was your favoutite crash bandicoot game. You didnt say that right?
@@lityfity4197 yes, Bash was so much fun, also Crash3 & CTR was very good
Biggest takeaway. Universal Interactive sucks. They treated Naughty Dog bad despite them making the best games. And rushed many games that had potential.
At least Crash was able come back to a new audience.
the best thing Activision's done this past decade
@@autismandgaming4532 lol this aged well
Games that had huge potential such as Crash bandicoot the wrath of cortex, Crash twinsanity, Crash nitro kart, and crash tag team racing but I really hope twinsanity gets a remake someday
"People were underwhelmed with the game being too similar and not being innovative." (After offering a complete new level list and new abilities and characters)
*Later in the video* "People were upset that it was such a departure from the series and handles so differently and had a different aesthetic."
Hot damn. You can't have it both ways lol. Fek I hate people.
Yeah they r never satisfied
It was probably Egg’s fault somehow
@Jordy Aguilar RE4 still kept the atmosphere and sound design that made the older games creepy, along with having a defenseless character that you need to worry about in addition to your own character, which’s why it still can feel tense and even scary at times despite being more action-oriented. In fact I’d say it’s as much as a horror game as RE3 and Code Veronica were, which were also more action-oriented despite still keeping the mechanics of older RE games.
Whereas in RE5, you’re in brightly lit environments for most of the game and have a partner to accompany you the entire adventure, which removes an tension or atmosphere the game can hope to have.
People get nostalgic for things that aren't "good" anymore, that were only "good" in their time. Thus you can't have both new (and new good) and authentic (and now bad) at the same time :(
@@lelsewherelelsewhere9435 They just get confused by what they're told "good" should be. For example, I never cared for the Crash games, but people seem to like the remakes, so I thought I might check them out. Likewise, maybe some people think they're supposed to like retro games even though they might not otherwise. I'm not sure of any older games I liked a lot and no longer care for.
As a die-hard Crash fan since the 90s, I can honestly say that this is one of the best video game documentaries I've ever seen. Kudos sir.
Although I do have a soft spot for Twinsanity, I don't want to see it remade, unlike a lot of other fans. Nearly half of the intended content for Twinsanity was cut from the final release, and most of it has been lost forever. I also don't feel like it's the right direction for the franchise. Sure I enjoyed the comedy of Twinsanity, but I always preferred the tight gameplay of the earlier games.
I would much rather see a new Crash game, hopefully one that's even better than the ones I played as a kid. I don't want Crash to just live off nostalgia. He needed the N.Sane trilogy to put him back in the spotlight, and let's face it, we've always wanted CTR online, but no more remakes are necessary for the series. Crash needs a brand new success.
Unfortunately, I don't think the higher up will care what fan want.
I do agree, for the same reasons you stated, and also one other that I have.
Crash Twinsanity is a very important game, and I think many big gaming-related corporations should learn from it. It shows what happens when you don’t allow devs enough time to complete their game. Just looking at the art in the game makes me wonder just how the game could’ve been if the devs were given another year or two.
What we ended up getting was the polished alpha version; the music was nice, had some great writing (that even joked about how much time they had and TT’s situation at he time), and had some memorable moments. I personally can’t play it anymore, though.
What about both? If you mix the tight control scheme of the original trilogy with Twinsanity's open world environments and its slapstick comedy, you could have a very fun Crash game as a result. If a Twinsanity remake would ever happen, they should go for the original control scheme of the PS1 trilogy, while adding back the cut content, fixing the notorious framedrop and other bugs, providing 60 FPS with it and of course, high resolution models and textures. Combining the best of the two worlds would ultimately mean the future of Crash, for me at least.
Brand new maps and mechanics in warped/WoC style would be perfect
Twinsanity was surely one of the best entries in the series and even though i would love to have a version where i can choose which levels to play and relieve the great music and comedy aswell as all the fresh gameplay mechanics, i must agree that i want a brand new game.
However i fear that just like Wrath of Cortex playing it safe the same could happen to a new entry depending on how much freedom Activision gives to the developers, but maybe we get lucky and get a game akin to Evolution
I'm at work all day. But this video made my day. The first 3 bandicoot games are pure gold.
Mr. Squirrel im glad u worked all day
Crash for Smash! A legend like him deserves to be there with the other greats like Mario, Pac-Man, Sonic, etc.
It would be hilarious since he wasn't in ps all star
Никон Непьянов Yeah that was dishonorable not having him in that game
Maybe as a Mii Fighter, but it would be great to play as him. The track included should either be N. Sanity Beach (outer) or Time Twister.
Never going to happen
@@Bad4bizbrad I agree.
I really wish they would remake Twinsanity with all the cut content, or make a new game that's in that same style.
When i first read the title, i assumed this was just gonna be one of those ''evolution'' videos that just show clips from all the games. I'm just happy that there's someone willing to put in more effort than that and actually DISCUSS the game's evolution.
Oh my god i can't believe i got heart! this has never happened before, thank you.
@@silobobus3268 bruh
My god. Why in the heck would Travelers Tales continue to work with Universal after getting screwed so many times? I personally loved Wrath of Cortex minus the ridiculous loading times but man, most of the titles after that I didn't even know they existed. What an interesting history.
Awesome video! The Crash Franchise was my Childhood! I still own all the ps1/ps2/GBA games and is still my favorite series of all time It warms my heart so much to see him back after thinking for years he'd never return during the long hiatus after Mind over Mutant! Even now i still cant believe he's here again! Welcome back little buddy we missed ya
Did you get crash 4 yet?
Did you play the wrath of cortex best crash game or crash 3 fr they both the best
love these history type of videos. Especially loved the Tomb Raider! Keep it up
Fire And Blood he can say whatever but don’t disrespect sonic adventure 2 battle that’s the best sonic game ever created
I live PlayStation and crash bandicoot.
I think Twinsanity is very underrated. I loved that game actually. Yes it was different, but by what it did, it did a lot of things right. :P Also the soundtrack was sick.
Agree.. Ppl hate creativity man 😭
@@niniscorner1Not in my case. What I hated about Twinsanity was the creepiness that pervades the entire game. Pretty much everything is grotesque and off putting. That boss fight with the many-armed statue, for instance, still sneaks up on me every now and again and makes me shudder. Was this also the game with that freaky walrus chef running after you with a butcher knife? Nightmare fuel.
@@arkoudanthrope used to freak me out as a kid 😂
I can remember getting my first game system: The Playstation One, as a child. A woman at our church gave it to me, along with several games. The first one I tried was Spyro 3, and I loved it, so I tried the other games as well. After much enjoying the Spyro games, a box with a certain orange bandicoot on it caught my eye. I immediately inserted the disc into the PS1 and tried it out. From that moment forward, Crash and Spyro have been my favorite games EVER. I still play them and their remakes to this day.
Nice story
Mad respect to church lady
So we could have had an open world Crash Bandicoot platformer all the way back in 2001 if it wasn't for business politics.
Drenrab It's definitely not my favorite, but I agree, The Wrath of Cortex is a great game and a childhood classic. I remember always playing it on the PS2 with my cousins.
Just imagine how good the game would have been if Universal didn't butt it's nose agaisnt Traveler's Tales
After having breakfast with some direct comparassion my mom told me to learn History. So here i am.
Even though I already know Crash's full backstory, I still found this entertaining to watch. Come to think of it, this is a _much_ better documentary of Crash I've ever seen. Keep up the great work!
I never realized how much Activision and universal really screwed this franchise.
Activision has always been like that sadly

Genuinly feel these History Of... videos are some of the best Gaming videos on TH-cam - Every one of them are brilliantly presented and researched, and I religiously watch them whenever they pop up in my feed; even for games that I wouldn't call myself a fan of like the Splinter Cell one.
Keep up the fantastic work.

Naughtydog's first masterpiece. It only works their way ;)
Naughty Dog is garbage now. They went downhill after Jak 3.
@@alis-ry3pf uncharted went downhill??? You sure about that
@@alis-ry3pf They're not garbage. You just don't like their modern era style. They're objectively a great video game company at the moment.
@Ian Gole While i also prefer a lot more Crash and Jak, Uncharted and The Last Of Us were pretty good.
@@alis-ry3pf Nah Naughty Dog are S tier level developers. The things is Naughty Dog fanbase grew up and they saw that , so they made games that appealed to them.
Thanks for the video. I hope they make either a remake of twinsanity or a continuing story of it
Thank you so much for creating this. It was so fun to watch. :D
Going in I didn't think I would watch the entire thing.
Before I knew it the video ended.
Great job! :D
I watched the whole video and I can't help but smile throughout this video. It's the perfect documentary of Crash I've watched here in TH-cam and I can't believe how this franchise became a big part of my life as a gamer. I only played the initial trilogy and CTR when I was a kid since I only had a PS1 console. After that, my parents couldn't afford to buy me another console so I've lost touch to other Crash Bandicoot games. Only bought a PS4 Pro last year and I was in awe how stunning Crash Bandicoot has become thanks to Activision and Beenox. So much nostalgia. So much love.
If there is one thing I learned from this video, it's that Universal Studios had no idea how to handle the Crash franchise and blamed passionate developers for their own bad decisions. They just wanted to follow the trend and milk the franchise instead of letting the developers do something unique.
crash was my childhood , specially with Crash 2 , CTR and Bash.
I remember back in the days I didn't have have a memory card , so i had to finish the game 100% in the same day without shutting down the ps1
Thank you for the amazing video , I hope your channel grows even bigger. keep up the good work
This is well crafted video on Crash. Just like other nostalgia gamers like myself, reminds me on the good ol days.
Now we need a documentary video on Nick930 to see the history on how this guy became so fucking AWESOME!
Denish (Silicon Valley), is this you? This **is** you, isn't it...
Good lord that Aku Aku mask from Crash of the Titans is just horrendous
That entire game is just horrendous
Nah, just because pussies like you don’t like Titans doesn’t mean the game is bad.
I agree
Really like these rather comprehensive series retrospectives you make, especially like that you cover both things quality gameplay and design of the game as well as surrounding things such as development and technical aspects. Look forward to seeing other retrospectives for other classic series and games in the future.
I Love these series and i do want to become more popular. Editing this and also recording is very difficult. Kudos!! I'm sharing it everywhere! Keep up the good work!!!!
You won a sub due to the quality of this video, great job in everything! I will make sure to show this to my friends too since some want to get CTR but know nothing about its backstory
CTR was such a huge part of my childhood. One of the few games back then I actually beat. Just from sheer amounts of time I put into it lol. I remember trying to figure out and find shortcuts..
Such a fun game
Amazing video! always enjoyable to look back on the history of my favorite Video Game Mascot.
Oddly enough, the black sheep games were the ones to make my childhood. Crash Tag Team Racing and Crash Mind over Mutants ended up being the best games ever for a little ole me.
Thank you for this video i almost cried remmbering the games i played all of crash games and seeing it finally coming back is great
Crash games was a family thing for me my entire family played crash games at least once when we used to gather and sit down with each other and play crash game thats why iam still playing it
Again thanks for this and sorry for taking along
I love all the Crash games up until Wrath of Cortex. I really like WoC but anything after that was not very good.
I remember one of the GBA games was pretty fun but nowhere near as good as the PS1 games.
Also it's funny that Naughty Dog made the best kart racer of the era and not a single Crash kart game has come close since. It's quite a departure from any other game they made and they absolutely killed it.
*THANK YOU* for not calling the N. Sane Trilogy and Nitro-Fueled remasters. I'm so sick of everyone and Activision calling them remasters when they are clearly Remakes.
Well theyre a strange mix of both. They are using the original level geometry dor the n sane trilogy. I do believe nitro fueled is a complete remake thise
@@Nick930 Just because they are recreating the original level geometry, doesn't automatically make it a remaster.
A remaster is taking an already made game and enhancing it with things like widescreen support, 60fps and better lighting. These take less time and resources to make. Examples include: Halo: Master Chief Collection, Wind Waker HD and the Metal Gear HD Collection.
A remake is building a game *COMPLETELY* from the ground up from scratch, made in the style of a particular game, which may include additional content if so desired. Examples include the Crash and Spyro Trilogy remakes, this game and Link's Awakening on Switch.
@@SegaMario nooo they didnt recreate the geometry. They literally were given the geometry to build from. Sony actually gave them the original code to use. Yes it is a remake, but its nearly identical to the originals.
When people think remakes, they think tomb raider anniversary or resident evil 2, both of which are based on the originals, but look and play nothing like them
@@Nick930 Well, remakes can either play identically to the original or play completely different.
My point still stands. Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen play exactly like Pokemon Red & Blue/Green and those are factually remakes.
Definitely a remaster with a few added things. It's perfectly balanced
Goddamn, I really felt bad for Traveller's Tales. Years upon YEARS of being removed from projects or being given no time to work on them or having their direction swapped at the tail end of development.
Universal Studios was a miserable overseer, holy shit.
I like going back to this video every now and then 😊
CRASH 4 IT'S ABOUT TIME!
I appreciate all the time you put into this edit. Must have took forever. First time viewer. Solid video. Hope you get the recognition you deserve.
tldr: Crash was an amazing character that had ridiculously good games to start with and was gutted by underfunding idiots that were the proper owners of the franchise rather than the guys that made it, killing the franchise off.
Just like....uh...literally every other mascot platformer except mario. Kinda funny how ALL these mascot platformers had the same problem except Nintendo's
Great work on researching all these details man.
The thing is Mario is so diverse in its content while still being quality, Mario could not survive all these years with JUST 2D and 3D platformers alone
Crash of the Titans and Mind over Mutant were my childhood and tbh, I love those games.
@@saad-dv5yr Yeah..They should make more games like that.
1. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
2. Crash Team Racing
3. Crash Bandicoot 1
Special mention to Twinsanity! That game had style. REMAKE!
CTR and Crash Bash were my life in the 90’s. Friggin LOVED this series. Wrath of Cortex gave 8 year old me butterflies in the stomach at the thought of buying a PS2.
The Crash Bandicoot games I remember the most are the original trilogy, Crash Team Racing and though I never played it, Crash Bash. I remember playing that Wrath of Cortex game which had really, really, really long load times on the PS2 but I later played it on the original Xbox which not only looked better but had shorter loading times. The other Crash games I didn't really care much for. But the ones that I really did like were the original trilogy so I was glad that Vicarious Visions made the Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy. And I'm also glad that Crash Bandicoot 4 actually feels like the original games even though Toys For Bob developed it. They also developed the Spyro Reignited Trilogy which looked amazing.
Planes weren't a new feature in Wrath of Cortex, they was also in Warped.
Giving you a like for the great video production you put on here.
I can't believe this almost an hour long video felt so smooth, thanks!!!
Crash nitro cart was my first ps1 game. I've never had so much fun with any other racing game other than crash nitro cart.
The closest one would be the burnout series, specially 3 and revenge which are my top favorite racing games.
I loved the original Naughty Dog Crash Bandicoot classics. When I bought Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled for the nintendo switch just a couple of weeks after it hit the store shelves, I instantly became hooked. I also have the N Sane Trilogy Remasters & I LOVED them. Vicarious Visions remastered the original ps1 classics so well with the recreation that it even impressed the original creators at Naughty Dog including the founders Jason Ruben & Andy Gavin who were absolutely impressed by how Vicarious Visions perfectly redesigned the games they came up with. Of course the super fans of crash bandicoot who have been with the series since it first started in '96 about the difficulty of the N Sane Trilogy compared to the original ps1 versions, I disagree with them. I actually find the N Sane Trilogy remasters easier than the originals. Can't wait to see what the upcoming title Crash Team Rumble brings. Looks like a fun game.
In CTR theres a giant short cut ! I dont think the developers meant to have it in there and i dont think most people know about it. Its in the last level and helped me beat oxide !
Grew up on the originals and they're still the best in my opinion. The Crash N Sane Trilogy messed up the physics and jumping making the games harder than the original PS games. At least the Spyro trilogy was remade properly (by Toys For Bob) and still feels like the originals. CTRacing remake is more playable than N Sane Trilogy. Then they released Crash 4 It's About Time which is just too tough and frustrating at times taking away some of the fun factor. I also somewhat enjoyed CB Wrath of Cortex on PS2 and to a lesser extent Twinsanity.
Uka Uka is like Shao Kahn of Crash Bandicoot world and Cortex is Shang Tsung :)
Brilliant brilliant video! Loved reminiscing through all the old games
All I know is that Crash 2 was my second ps1 game and I loved the series after that....even my mom played! SHE LOVED THE POLAR BEAR lol

A remake of a online Crash Bash would be perfect to release today. Also, I might be the only one, but I loved Tag Team Racing, idk why, but I replayed that on my PSP like 500 times.
You forgot to mention the story plot of Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant.
This video is just amazing! Great job!
Amazing crash documentary and I would love to see them bring crash bash back that is one of the best games of the crash series
The original games still look very pleasing to my eye, more than most of the sequels and to be honest the remakes. It's incredible what they achieved on the PS1.
Nice vid. You just made me realise how Warped improved from 2 in terms of transitioning from 3D to 2D perspectives. Also this vid just points out how terrible Universal was to their developers and how they didn't know what they wanted for the series and how clueless Activision was for sleeping on the IP for almost 9 years (excluding mobile games). I feel like Sony should be given some credit for bringing the series back as they were the ones that negotiated with Activision regarding the series. Naughty Dog and Sony being gone is probably what caused Universal to seem so lost with the franchise.
Mark Cerny is pronounced "Sir-Knee". Aside from that small mistake, this video is perfect ^_^
Man as a kid I must have sucked super hard at Crash cause I never even knew you could find other portraits other than Crash's. I played Crash so much as well. Welp I am for sure 100% it when I purchase it eventually.

Awesome video! I never knew there were so many Crash games. Back in the day, around 97-98 when I first got the original PS1, I remember that Crash 2 was my favorite game. I had never played Crash 1 or 3 at that time. Eventually as I grew up I got more out of gaming, but I always remembered Crash as being my favorite game of all time. The only other game that's been an equal favorite for me was the original Mario Bros 3 on NES. For years I kind of wished I could play the game again, but never felt it was worthwhile to invest the money in a gaming system to play it (I no longer had the original PS1). Until a few months ago when I decided to invest in a Nintendo Switch specifically to be able to get Crash N.Sane Trilogy, and I haven't regretted it! It's awesome to be able to experience this game again at the age of 36, along with Crash 1 and 3, which I had never played before. And the graphics are far better than the original PS1 version. I just ordered Crash 4: It's About Time the other day and am excited about getting it any day now. I'll probably get one of the Crash racing games for the switch as well. You're never too old to enjoy some gaming!
Despite how much of a rocky history the organge marsupial has had, I’m at least glad to see that the series is finally back on track with the solid remakes of both the first three games and CTR, along with the very great Crash 4. Let’s just hope that it can stay that way, and that Spyro gets his own numbered sequel sometime in the near future as well...👀👀
