    Normal for US passport holders to get the extra checks done. Very common in African border crossings. What makes them very suspicious is you travelling on the bus.

    Must see: Windhoek, “the coast” Swakopmund, Wallis bay, skeleton coast (where the desert and the ocean meet), fish river canyon (2nd largest canyon in the world), deadvlei, man there’s sooo many places....
    Love from Windhoek 🇳🇦❤️

      I second that, especially Port Elizabeth, P.E in short is very laid-back you might wanna retire there one day. I'm not from there but I've been there a few times in the past and still want to go for holidays. Just go let us know about you experiences there, People are super friends even for a lone traveler, I would know about it (I've traveled there alone many times before). there are many youtube videos about P.E these days (check it out)

    • @ovie10

    Great video Jermaine! This is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also locs are looked at differently in some countries of Africa (most). They associate locs with insanity or someone who doesn't take care of themselves due to homelessness. In the states locs are looked at totally differently. This is what an African woman said during a panel discussion on Grapevine. Personally? I like the locs.

    Ok, so, my first time here, 3rd video, thoroughly enjoying everything, but confused and really impressed. Are you alone? I heard to mention the possibility of getting robbed, mugged, what's the purpose of your travels? I'm not a tough guy, so naturally I want to know are ever afraid, and how do you keep going if you're afraid. Lastly I just want to say thank you for what ever reason you have for doing what you're doing!!!

    I think its because you are American actually. It kinda feels like what they do over here at Lagos airport. The officials hear a western accent and they try to frustrate you simply because they want to be in your position being able to travel at the drop of a hat on a sought after US, Canadian or EU passport. Ya-hey

    No Jermaine, I don't think it's the dreads. There are plenty of people with dreads in Namibia.
    Let's just say your traveler profile, young, non-businessman/official Black, hippyish *American* is not the most usual profile across the road border. Perhaps they suspected you work for your government's global "eager beaver"! (especially when you combine that with the number of stamps from so many different countries in your passport!)
    (They often deploy African-Americans to Africa operations for obvious reasons)...........or, you know, a drug dealer!

    • @curiousnomadic
      @curiousnomadic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      So they think Jermaine is a hippy spy? I don't think so. They are power hungry nutcases bored out of their minds working at the boreder and like to bother travelers at their most vulnerable.

      Ever heard of a cover?
      I guess you'd be the guy later going "Gee, golly gosh. I never suspected X. He seemed so laid back. He didn't *ACT* like a square at all!"
      They go by unusual, not "stereotypical".

    • @curiousnomadic
      @curiousnomadic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      lol @Agrid their "cover would be Africans with African passports, not American "hippy" travelers with gopros and youtube vlogs. They'd never even know and they wouldn't be spying in Botswana/Namibia anyway. No interest, nothing to disrupt.

    • @agrid2608
      @agrid2608 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@curiousnomadic No. You wouldn't be able to fake locals for a fast op.
      Being that you are talking about some of the TOP 5 Uranium producers in the world in that region among other resources, I would say there is plenty to disrupt!
      US intelligence involvment goes back decades, including providing the intel for the arrest of Mandela in Howick , KwaZulu-Natal in the early 60's!
      The SADC region is pivotal to African affairs!

    • @jonjo2598
      @jonjo2598 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@curiousnomadicUh, Namibia has the world's 2nd and 7th most productive Uranium Mines. These two open-pit mines (meaning they are far less efficient than more modern mines) produce 10% of the world's capacity.
      There are probably half-a-dozen American Assets in Namibia at all times monitoring theses mines. But they do not come in by bus, nor do they usually tour the country (they typically stay in American government buildings with diplomatic covers) - Jermaine would have an excellent (and impossible to break) cover were he in fact working for the CIA as a NOC (Non-Official Cover = the guys who kill people/plant viruses on Iranian Nuclear Reactors).

    Hello Jermaine Ellis. I saw a few of your videos. It is nice to travel and see the world. The way that you travel is very risky and dangerous. Border agents search you and ask you a lot of questions because they are suspicious of you. Take these searches and questioning very seriously. It is a hint that you need to change the way that you travel. I hope that no one falsely accuses you of something as you travel. You should at least try to have a local join you as you walk thru the city. I am just trying to be helpful and give you my assessment. Ed

    Dude, I know Namibia. They profiled you because you are a black tourist with an American passport. There are lots of white tourists in Namibia. They don't raise eyebrows at the border post because well they are white and assumed to be rich. All that searching, emptying your pockets and cross checking your passport is abnormal. This is racial profiling and it happens a lot in Namibia if you are black and doing things that are considered white.

    Goddamn bra, walking there alone? at night? when it's so quiet? Isolated? you got guts i'll give you that, i doubt many locals would do that.
    Either way great video, and if you do make rounds to South Africa, avoid the big cities and explore the smaller cities and big towns, like on the West Coast or the Karoo, go to the Southern Cape region.
