      Yeeesss!! Currently with the dilemma between trail and enduro bike, precisely between Canyon Spectral (trail) and Canyon Torque (end), both with aluminium framed and 29 wheels; both seem almost the same! Would like to try both, maybe the only factor to decide would be the weight but also both weigh almost the same...! I had a kinda 'love at first sight' with the Torque but I'm afraid to get too over biked with it... 🤔 Tough decision without trying both... 😅

    I have a large-ish trail bike 150 fork/130 rear 27.5 and it’s capable of more than I am. There’s absolutely no point in me having more bike, because I can’t jump much and I’m never going to race. It would cool to have a full enduro bike but absolutely I would never ride hard enough to warrant it.

    Love Enduro bikes! I just completed a 2 day XC stage race on my Rocky Mountain Altitude and it went like a rocket...yes the boring climbs were a bit slow, but the bike got me to the top and I had waaaaaaay more fun than the rest bombing down the fun, tech downhills 😅

    I feel like the different types of bikes are also bleeding into each other. Like some call one bike a light-enduro, the next one calls it an all-mountain, or trail bike. Especially those that are between 140mm and 160mm travel.

    My local terrain is quite mild (southern Michigan, USA) and while we do have a lot of punchy ups/downs, small drops, sidehits, roots, sand, etc., it's all on a reduced scale than what you might expect from a mountainous region. I'm less interested in 'efficiency' and much more interested in traction, cornering, soaking up jumps and FUN. I've essentially turned my 2019 GT Sensor (140/130) into a mini-enduro bike w/ burly wheelset and tires, Saint brakes, platforms, spank vibrocore bar and stem, etc.....not exactly a 'lightweight' trailbike anymore, but not an Enduro sled either. So many good bikes these days, you can easily shift any bike up or down a class, just by throwing money at it.

    I think having a super nice enduro bike is really good as you don’t need to spend a lot of money on different bikes you can just have one overhauled enduro bike and they handle well at my local DH races

    As someone that got into MTB with a 120/130 2022 Gaint stance 29er trail bike I'm now looking to upgrade to an Enduro. I would only recommend someone get an Enduro if they are progressing with their riding. Doing big gnarly jumps, big gnarly gaps like "Remy and yoann barelli" It's safe to say I have found the limits of my stance 29er which is the reason I'm looking at getting an Enduro MTB with either 150/160 or 160/170.

  • @Superteastain

    The answer to this question is no. These bikes can take really big hits. On most trails they are too much and they make riding boring. I have Canyon Strive and sometimes its almost like riding a motor-cross bike. It takes the fun out of a lot of trails. I'd settle for short travel trail or just a trail bike.

      Absolutely agree I switched from a Specialized Enduro to a Giant Trance 29 (130mm front, 120mm rear) and I'm having wayyy more fun, it's much more lively while still providing a ton of confidence with it's agressive geo. If anything I'm riding harder now since the suspension isn't working against me half the time.
      Should have made the switch sooner tbh.

    I have a Specialized Status 140mm travel, thing sits in a weird category for me. It's definitely a trail bike but its aggressive enough to make gnarly runs feel pretty chill and doesn't seem to mind a launch to the flats. Feels like a mini enduro bike idk haha

    • @benjy288
      @benjy288 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know what you mean, I have a 2019 norco fluid fs1 with 120mm rear 130mm front, with a 66.5 head angle, but it feels like its a cross between a xc and enduro bike, fun, agile and poppy, but stable and slack enough to handle steep double blacks, because even though its only 66.5 the shorter travel fork means the head angle doesn't steepen very much when pointing it down a steep trail, you just have less suspension to absorb impacts, so you have to use your arms more.

  • @garethhughes5745
    @garethhughes5745 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've got an Intense Tracer 275, but still prefer to ride my old Giant Trance 2007. Smaller wheels makes the bike smaller, so easier to fit in the car, and easier to lift over fences and stiles while exploring, or even throw over your shoulder while crossing rivers, or climbing up the side of mountains over boulder fields etc, that are too steep and long to ride up. 27inch wheels are too big to be practical for exploration. I wish they sold mountain bikes nowadays, proper go anywhere ones not just for 'going fast', seems those days have gone.

    i ride a 150/130, and its perfect for a do it all bike. long rides in the saddle to sending it at the bike park i haven't had any issues and have never felt underbiked. i think there is too much hype on long travel enduros.

    For a person that hits trail features, enduro setup bike is best. But for a week end warrior that rolls over options and blue trails, trail bike suits well.

  • @Furty
    @Furty ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would say a trail bike is much more versatile, full stop. Enduro bikes do not enjoy singletrack climbing, even if you can make the bike do it with appropriate power. They can also feel a bit sluggish and boring if you don't have aggressive enough trails to make use of the bike. It might be a one bike quiver in a place like the sea to sky corridor but for most folks this is way too much bike.

    I remember when enduro bikes were marketed as all mountain 😂 I've had a 2016 specialized enduro from new, its still a good bike and still gets abused all the time and just ears everything, 160mm travel seems to be a sweet spot

  • @galenkehler
    @galenkehler ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe, if you can fit a narrow crank and larger chainring. Most enduro bikes suffer on long term pedaling.
    But my 2000s bullit with 180mm was perfect as an all-rounder, so a modern bike of the same type would be perfect if you can make it pedal ok

    Sad to say.. I used to ride a hardtail 90% of the time. Then full sus 50/50 with the hardtail. Then I got a newer enduro bike and didn't touch the hardtail for a month or so. Tried to ride it yesterday and with the older geo/shorter wheelbase it feels extremely sketchy in comparison. So much so I feel like i can't ride it even 1/2 as well as I used to. Guess my point is yeah enduro bikes could be the perfect bike.. but swapping between bikes is detrimental as well (depending on skills lol).

    I fell for it, got an 3nduro and it's a pig to ride about on, efficient they said. So slow my stumpy do 10 mile in 50 mins no effort, couple miles on the enduro I'm fkd. It's not fun. There not just more travel they are a lot chunkier etc. And I've got a twinloc which is great but still hard work. I am really ill though and lost a load of weight. Was hoping the ransom would motivate me to try rebuild some fitness. Guna get some trail tyres for it today see if that works. Guna get a 27.5 whheelset eventually aswell for more nimble smashing about
