Little fun fact I learned recently. The Banished from Halo Wars 2 were formed after the Battle of Algolis. Aka, the battle from Prototype in Halo Legends. Which means Ghost indirectly forged the Banished. Amazing.
Were the Brute clans that were repeatedly sacrificed some of the ones sent to destroy the prototype or something? If not I don't see how the two events are connected.

The Banished was created in 2548, it was one of many factors with growing political instability with the on going war against humanity. It wasn't til October-November 2552, the growing instability was at it's peak that lead to a massive civil-war across Covenant space thousands of light years across. The Covenant lost far more military personell & civilian members in a span of days than the Human-Covenant war combine in 28 years. People seem to underestimate how powerful & how much control space the Covenant had, they would take a sh*t on sci-fi empires like the Federation in Star Trek or the First Galactic Empire In Star Wars. It's for example the Roman empire was the Covenant while the UNSC was merely a barbarian tribe by some river on the edge of Roman control space. The Romans fought us & didn't think too much of us while then the Empire collapse due to political infighting.
@@tristanbackup2536 The "Barbarian Tribe" handed the covenant some seriously heavy losses that were more than nuisances. The destruction of the Unyielding Heirophant was a HUGE punch to their gut, for example.

Chief and arby and the entire U.N.S.C and the swords of Sangheilios, air and ground forces charging full force towards the Bannished and then the Flood and Prometheans show up now I have one epic battle in my head lol
Okay imagine this: You play Halo 3 Anniversary, you are on the Covenant mission. But something seems odd. Why ? Because you have to face an entire army of Covenant Loyalists and not just 2 Scarabs, but 4. This fight is bigger than the one in the original game. You have to fight through this insane amount of Covenant Loyalist forces to reach the Citadel to stop the High Prophet of Truth. Cue this music throughout the battle and you get epicness.
