MAHOGANY, 24, from Tennessee, suffers from a long-term condition called lymphedema where excess fluid collects in tissues causing swelling in the limbs. The model says that “dating has been dry like the Sahara Desert” but she is “ready to get back on the saddle”. Mahogany reveals how she would not post full pictures of her body online as interactions would change after people saw her leg - she would only post pictures from the waist up. But how will student Haylee react to Mahogany’s leg and will the two hit it off?

I think it's dishonest when people go on these blind dates and they don't admit to noticing that their date has something extremely different about them, such as a burnt face or a ginormous leg. I'm glad that they had a pleasant experience but I think Mahogany deserves to be with someone who can look her in the eye and tell her the truth, AND still love and appreciate all parts of her at the end of the day. 💜
No matter what they do, some virtue signalers will complain about it (prime example).

Championing honesty and realness is the exact opposite of that, since virtue signalers are invested in making themselves look righteous at the expense of truth. Another episode on this same channel featured a woman with a huge acid burn on her face, going on a date with another woman. When she asked if she noticed anything different, her date said no. Also, in this episode, the woman with the inflated leg did stand up to greet her date (and her left leg is facing outward, and you can see it even when she's seated), so it was in fact, visible and the two scenarios I mentioned are comparable.
It's extremely dishonest to see someone's extremely visible deformity and pretend you didn't see it. And pretending you don't see it doesn't help you bond with that person, especially if they had to go through a lot to accept and love themselves because of it.
It's not that she didn't admit it, I think she was treading carefully on the subject and waiting for Mahogany to comment on it first, to prevent sounding impolite or something.

I think it was more of a personality difference between the two. The girl with the curly hair just seemed more dry and less outgoing. I don’t think she felt the chemistry, especially when she said that she was just “browsing”. I don’t think they’re going to communicate at all after this.

@@jojothibodeau Yeah, at first I thought she just wasn't into it, but when she said she was nervous, I thought perhaps she just has social anxiety. At the end, she kept looking at Mahogany when she was talking. I don't think she is completely disinterested as we initially assumed, but that may be a lot of pressure- especially on camera.
I thought I was the only one who picked that up. She’s not interested just acting like she is for the cameras.
What a sweet and charming young lady, she's adorable, her condition literally breaks my heart, she doesn't deserve to have to deal with such an uncomfortable condition, I really hope the medical field can one day find a resolution for this debilitating disease 😔

There's surgery for it now. I also have this condition. This lady needs to wear compression, massage and elevate her leg. She also needs to move her lymph out of the leg through exercise and breathing. Simply moisturising is not enough. It's daily management and it works. I've reversed the severity of mine to the point where I was advised to stop wearing medical grade compression stockings

She is very pretty. Medically (I’m aware lymphedema comes back) can they drain it. I’m worried about her heart health. I wish her the best. Previously, I had pulmonary edema. My ankles were very swollen (temporarily had mitral valve prolapse). I was unbelievably uncomfortable.

My youngest daughter has a more extreme and very rare medical condition. Her left leg is 3 times larger than her right. With that said...they are looking at cancer treatments for it. However, there are lymphedema treatments but no cure.

Look up Panacur it’s a dewormer people use use to cure their cancer. But pretty much any dewormer is good.
I think it’s really hard to go on a blind date when you have a very obvious condition and you don’t tell them in advance because you’re really putting someone on the spot. For example even if I really didn’t care I would just feel really awkward in that moment because it will take me by surprise and I wouldn’t know what to do or wether to talk about it and it would end up being awkward when it wouldn’t need to be if I just knew in advance. You also don’t really know whether someone is genuinely interested in you or not because I think there’s people out there that would go on another date just not to look bad when in fact they don’t actually feel a connection to the person or if someone didn’t want another day then the person might make it about the condition rather than that they just didn’t feel a connection. I mean how many dates do you go on and you just don’t connect to the person all but a tiny handful I guess. I just think it’s one of those things where knowing in advance would make it way better for both people. I appreciate this is a TV show though.,

This woman was not honest and put the other young woman on the spot. Being photographed from the waist up is deception. Going on a blind date doesn't mean instant relationship. The young woman just moved there and is attending college.
What bothered me was Mahogany questioning the other woman if she noticed anything...that would make anyone uncomfortable.

One of my best friends growing up had this condition with her leg. She would wear compression socks around her leg so it wouldn’t swell as much. Apparently, we became friends because I was the only one who wasn’t making fun of her. Crazy almost 10 years later I’m finding out the name of the condition. Thank you for representing people like this.

It’s very fake and rehearsed when people blatantly have some thing wrong and nobody says anything the awkward part is how do you say something? It’s usually the person with the medical condition who comes forward first, and doing so can be a bit tricky.

I’ve had to learn when most people ask how I am they don’t really want to know if I’m having a bad day, in general most people are asking that question as a way to say I’m acknowledging your presence... so The appropriate response when most ppl ask “ how r u ?” would be “I’m fine, and you?” Fake interactions are what the USA functions by.

Her condition looks painful. I am glad she can walk. Just saw documentary not long ago of a Brittish Lady that had 3 times bigger leg and she was using wheelchair and in big pains. She needed carers too. I wish there were a cure

@@EjPwned Tissue grows faster after surgery apparently. Brittish Lady got some medicine and it reduced the size of her huge leg couple cm only. Very sad as medicine is a risk to kidneys
British lady did end up having her huge leg amputated because it got way too heavy for her frame.

Having a club foot that I hide most of the time, I understand her deep rooted pain and fear of judgment, I have bad body dysmorphia, even though it’s not that bad. to me I notice it so much more than others. But still it gives me low self esteem sometimes… but I try to own it bc it’s me and I’m unique. Have to love what you were given ❤

I feel ya! My left foot has always been like that, but now in my 30s it has got really bad. I would never dream of wearing sandals and if I go swimming I tend to stand with my right foot on top of my left so I look like some weird human/flamingo hybrid… but look on the bright side, we can cover our issue with shoes most of the time, so it could b worse!

I wonder I’d it’s best to amputate. The other leg is fine and she could use a prosthetic leg. To me, this is too much unnecessary pain. 🤷🏻♀️

Both of these ladies seem like really sweet, smart, cool people. I actually also have lymphedema, in both my lower legs. She seems to have a different kind then i do, i have a lot of swelling but not to the extreme level she does. I have a lot if numbness, constant pain, skin breakdown, etc. it makes a lot of daily tasks hard or impossible and it also really took a big hit to my self confidence. Im impressed with her confidence and how positive she seems. I hope they both find what they are looking for ❤

I wonder if she's tried manual lymphatic drainage massage therapy for her leg it works wonders for my grandmothers arm as well as compression garments
Her swelling is extreme so I don't think mld and compression garments would help. My legs are huge, but not as huge as hers and regular mld doesn't make much difference and I can't find compression garments big enough.

She’s likely past the stage those therapies would help much. I was diagnosed too late and those things don’t help me.
I once saw a documentary of a man who was at the point of elephantiasis. A doctor helped with decongestive therapy and it actually worked. The man was on the machine for over a week though and the machine would flex his foot back and forth as if he was walking, the leg was elevated so that the lymph would move. It actually worked. I was blown away to be honest.
Mahogany can try bandages since stockings would be impossible to wear. Mobiderm also helps for legs that cannot be wrapped. One rests the leg on top of the spongy thing (can't remember what it's called) and it breaks down the solidified lymph.

There’s a surgeon in Spain who do surgery is this medical condition. They do like a liposuction kinda thing.
I have lymphedema and wish there was a cure all treatments have limited ability to help including surgery and success varies greatly between individuals.

I really think my mom had this, her left leg was 4times bigger than her right. Unfortunately I lost my mom 20years ago so this was hard to watch. I took her to different hospitals different doctors and than the cracks and it leaked and everything I went through with her. I wish I had got her the right help, maybe my momma would still be with me😭

Do not blame yourself. you are a wonderful daughter, unlike many.....many children do not care about their parents at all, and you have already taken many steps towards ensuring that she is next to you as long as possible ... To be with you, such a caring loving child to the end- is the best thing your mom could want ♥️ many old people die in deep loneliness and unhappiness, and no one will ever even remember them.

I was only 21 when my mom passed, I'm 41 now. I took my mom to different doctors, to better hospitals that are 2 hours away in hope to get her better. The day she passed I had only left her for 20mins tops to run into the store to get milk and eggs cause I was gonna fix French toast. I came home to find her in the floor. Ppl say how their mom is their best friend and mine really was. If I went on vacation I made sure it was somewhere I would enjoy and her. The one trip she wanted was to go to Tenn and see Graceland and I was gonna start saving up to take her. Then 4yesrs later I lost my dad to cancer, my only brother took his life from depression so it's just me and my 2 kids now. I just finished radiation therapy and when I'm better I'm gonna look into starting a nonprofit, a place where kids that are autistic and kids at risk can learn to ride horses, take care of them, show the kids at risk it's ok to have empathy. Then when needed I want to use them to cover more ground when a child or the elderly go missing.
Before my mom got sick she was a RN she always told me nursing isnt about a pay check, you do it because theres ppl who need to know there are ppl who do care, I think that's why I've wanted to work with kids at risk as well as autistic kids and adults.

I was dating a guy. We wound up engaging in sex after getting to know one another. He let me find out on my own during the first encounter that he had a micro p.e.n.is that was enclosed within his deformed scrotum and had oversized drooping huge balls. After, I googled the condition to understand it. Condition started in the womb, some type of imbalance of the mother's hormones. It was rare for sure. To say you are shocked and trying not to show how much is an understatement when you were taken completely off guard. I felt what he did was wrong and disrespectful. I can understand his discomfort in an intimate setting but he should have given an upfront disclosure. Not even having to be specific. Perhaps saying I am not built like other men and you should know that before we go any further to prepare yourself. Cuz it was a hidden condition, he couldn't walk around with his junk out for you to see ahead of time. At least this young lady had it out there plain to see and deal with. Good for her. Lovely energy.
Wow that is a difficult situation to be in...can't imagine. He probably should have talked to you about everything before things turned physical but he probably liked you too much. Even though it's not his fault, a lot of women would find his condition difficult to accept.

I know about this condition but I have never seen it happen to just one leg.
My sister has it in only her right leg. Developed it either during or right after her pregnancy.
I’ve seen many people with one limb effected with Lymphedemia.
If it's in both legs, it's usually lipedema. It's different from Lymphedema. The former is characterized by fat accumulation and the latter is fluid accumulation

Interesting. Lymphedema is very common and usually treated with draining. But I've never seen a person's limb get this big. I'm wondering how they let it get to that point? I hope it wasn't a healthcare access issue.

I've seen a leg this big when I was little. It tripped me out, but I was like 6 then.
My mom has a friend both his legs get big and he drains it monthly. It's all normal they just aren't this huge but still abnormal. We treat him normal

They have machines you could use to help with pumping the lymphatic fluid and decreasing the swelling. Diuretics help allot too. Tactile medical is the company. I've had to use them since a failed spine surgery causes lymphadema on my whole left side. I'm fortunate it hasn't gotten this bad. Dry brushing and lymphatic massages are great too. Hope it helps, I know how painful it can be

I was wondering if there's something that could be done. If it were me I would not be comfortable with that leg it looks painful but maybe not.

Did you know that, in most cases, lymphedema treatments aren't even covered by insurance? And even when treatments are covered (such as arm/hand swelling after a mastectomy), the coverage is limited? That's the real travesty...not failing to fully-disclose a deformity to one's blind date ('though I basically disagree with putting others "on the spot" by being less than fully-honest). Still: The fact that this date is being videoed leads me to suspect that it's not "really real," either--that the "protagonist" is trying to drive home a point and to basically do a "PSA" about lymphedema (sometimes called "elephantiasis"), a condition that is not all that common in the USA.
It’s more common than people know because it’s going undiagnosed. The fact insurance doesn’t cover many facets of care discourages people from seeking care as well.

I don't know much about this disorder, but if it were me, I think I would just have my whole leg removed. Don't know if the swelling would just start in the other leg though. That's gatta be rough.

I think a prosthetic leg would be the best option overall too.
Other lymph nodes are likely damaged and the swelling may spread regardless.
Seeing her on this show I take my hat off to her she is so strong and confident in herself and I'm sure it took her along time for her to officially become comfortable in her skin I'm so proud of her even though I don't know her but at least she's not looking for a pity party and she no longer feels bad for herself either and as long as she keeps herself going and staying relevant and getting herself out there the Way she's doing I'm sure she's going to find real people that's going to truly like her for her I love the fact that she's not letting her medical condition slow her down completely.

I’ve had lymphedema in both my Legs since 8 years old I suffered everything she has expressed also I can say my legs doesn’t get as big as hers but the looks and speaking of my Legs like r u pregnant or on the beach in the summer and they flare up very big as always been so depressing for me I do have 4 children and a wonderful partner so I’m grateful for that I honestly never experienced any relationship issues because of my legs so again I’m grateful I wish her the best with everything from relationships to her modeling she’s truly beautiful

It was someone surprising to see that she has suffered with that condition since she was baby. Heart wrenching… but her photo shoot photos are so well done & really capture her strength. She I a beautiful woman and deserves the best. I hope she’s able to miraculously heal her condition one day. I know it must be challenging.

Um. When you have lymphedema that bag you have to keep it in compression
It’s the only treatment to lessen it. Absolutely hare to keep it wrapped up tight
She’s not helping herself with it open like that. And with how young she is. It will continue to get worse and eventually she will probably have to get her leg amputated
Compression keeps it from getting worse if you have the correct fit and compression strength. There are other therapies but may not work as well in later stages. Most people are not diagnosed in time for it to be reversible.

Yes, there is a way. Holistic is the way to go. A special diet.
The standard treatment for lymphedema is called complete decongestive therapy (CDT). This involves manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), short stretch bandaging of the affected limb, compression garments, diaphragmatic breathing, exercise, and skin care. There are pneumatic compression pumps like the Flexitouch + that help manually move the fluid. Some people have great success with ketogenic diets. There is also microscopic surgery for patients that show a benefit. Lymphedema is recognized as a cosmetic condition and not a chronic illness even though patients are frequently hospitalized and die of complications that result from it. This makes awareness very important because a lot of people are affected with various stages of lymphedema. Tons of women develop secondary lymphedema because of breast cancer treatment. Elizabeth Taylor had lymphedema distichiasis. Her trademark thick eyelashes were actually double row eyelashes. A symptom of her disorder. Wendy Williams was diagnosed with primary lymphedema a few years ago. Kathy Bates is a strong advocate as a breast cancer survivor and lymphedema warrior. The Bachelor, Cameron Ayala, is an amputee and lymphedema advocate as well. We are still lobbying for legislation to pass the Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA) so that health insurance will cover the cost of treatment, wraps, and garments.
She’s done everything and this is the result. For now there isn’t much more they can do I think.

Mahogany is absolutely gorgeous, just as she is and although I cannot help but feel bad for her to have had gone through her childhood etc with the swelling, children and adults being cruel and the obvious discomfort/issues that has come with her particular disorder, I feel it's made her a very well rounded, humble and so on which elevated her inward beauty so much. I do pray they're able to find a permanent resolution that will cure the fluid retention, the swelling and perhaps surgery down the road that'll cosmetically fix an entire lifetime of swelling on the left side of her body, especially her leg, if she feels that's what she needs to do for herself, not for anyone else but she's perfect I'm everyway and her confidence is inspiring ❤️

I can't belive the experience Mahogany had with GROWN people judging her when she was younger. How cruel. I'm glad that she's developed confidence and learnt to love herself and see her worth💖 We only get one life and it's too short to spend it worrying about other people's opinions.
