Trevor’s new single, STRONG HANDS, was written almost 10 years ago, driven by the lack of awareness and respect for military vets - especially among younger generations. In keeping with his longstanding appreciation and respect for Canada’s veterans, Guthrie decided to dedicate his proceeds from the single, to Canadian veterans’ charity Wounded Warriors Canada.
About Wounded Warriors:
Wounded Warriors Canada is a non-profit organization that supports Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, and their families.
Through a wide range of national programs and services, Wounded Warriors provides a spectrum of care that is focused on mental health and, particularly, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Best way to honour veterans is to be the kind of country they fought and died for. Not the way we are now.

guys, it about soldiers all being the same, regardless of what side they are on, they all had families and friends, wives, girlfriends, children, parents - lives and stories that were cut short, too short - we are the result of what they all fought and died for.
RIP grandpa. A veteran of WWII, proud and strong who fought valiantly, saved his fellow men, and came home to marry my grandma and have five children, his middle son adopting a young autistic girl; me.

He pissed off the music industry in the early 2000s as part of soulDecision, and never really regained that level of fame. His music has continued to be top notch, however, including all his EDM stuff as a feature with other artists.
LOVE the song and love what it stands for. I heard it for the first time on a radio station in Victoria a few weeks ago... What I wanted to ask though, was what happened to all of the other lyrics when this video was made? I found those other verses in the audio recording on MySpace to be so incredibly powerful and I found myself wishing they were included with the video as well... Beautiful song and a very admirable intention to donate the proceeds of the song to Wounded Warriors :)

Anyone care to speculate on the photo featured at 0:55? Looks like a pair of Japanese aircrew from WW 2. Paying tribute to Hirohito's servants seems a bit strange. Perhaps one of the aviators survived the war and became a good friends of the veteran featured in the video...?
I think the point of the song is that no matter which side, cause or beliefs, the young men and women who fought proudly for those around them were all human, all had to endure the same sacrifices, turmoils and consequences of war. This song recognizes the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of soldiers from different backgrounds, countries and positions who risked their lives every day, whether forced into the position, or choosing to fight for their country, freedom, friends and family, and sheds light onto the mental distress caused by constant violence, death and uncertainty that all of these people faced on the battlefield.

Everyone hates a critic. I think its a wonderful song. The message you intended got across.Is there a way to delve deeper with your lyrics and voice to resonate a deeper emotional vibe? A Heavier calibre with that lighter side. But perhaps that's not a good thing.

I have been sent to work in the middle eastfor 6 years . your song has brought to me all the sweet and bitter of every moment I spent wearing my uniform. really I have respect for every soldier and veteran around the world no matter which country because these are the real people that they spill their blood defending their people and their homeland . thanks for the song Ilove it.

The song is sung from the perspective of a soldier who was fighting in the war and had to shoot another soldier down on the opposing side. The poignant lyrics express the anguish and post-traumatic stress he has been facing for having killed another fellow human being under military orders during war when he would not have done so during peace time.
