People making fun of Kayla for putting computer desks in the hallway clearly are not 80s/ 90s kids. The (only!) family computer was in the living room or some other public room where there happened to be space and you just had to deal with the fact that anyone could come up behind you and see what you were doing lmao
I enjoy playing in any sized lot, but bigger homes are my fav because there’s usually less glitching with routes and pets or other sims being in the way of an object
@@elainatobysmydog5667lol i actually furnished a big house in the sims as a way to distract me from a massive headache 😂 for as long as my head hurt, i was building !! i got most of a massive house done in one day that way. really helped lol. i feel like building in the sims is the closest you can get to ceasing to exist while still being awake
I also tend to prefer larger lots, partly because I love having my Sims make their own art to decorate with, and doing so requires a lot of free wall space in addition to all the basics you need for gameplay
I absolutely love monochromatic things like outfits/character designs/rooms etc. I always give my sims one or two colors to base their clothes off off so they’re easier to tell apart from afar. Being part of the Steven universe fanart community a few years back really let me explore that love
Same probably a huge part of why I love watching simsie and love the not so berry. As an artist who writes I feel strongly that a lot of artistic people who understand design can't help but love a monochrome color palette or an overall overbearing main color lmao not all for sure but yeah bc that's how I play the sims too lmao
big builds tip (?) - two of every room, formal and casual, e.g. open kitchen with fancy appliances, then a dirty kitchen at the back with the stove and oven. - splitting space; e.g. living room with tv at one side, then more of a chitchat/activity corner; bedrooms, the more walls, the less spacious it is, fills up the space - placing items in the middle of the room, so that the empty spaces become walk ways - a lot of wall deco. - platforms are a good space filler, sunken living room in the middle, bed on 4x3 platform
I prefer a smaller house initially, but eventually you just have so much stuff that you need to go bigger. If you’ve got kids bringing home Science Projects, good luck in a small house in the depths of winter. And I insist on a Christmas tree, even if it means my coffee table goes out into the garden for the day.
I usually prefer medium to large sized homes/lots. The routing works a lot better then so your sims don't glitch as badly. But the houses can't be too big or else it would take too long to get anywhere, so I don't play in mansions either. I also don't look for my sims manually and just right-click on their icons instead.
She’s said before that she won’t do an updated NSB (bc the community has done so many already), but she’s in the process of creating a new legacy challenge!
As a longtime viewer, I just have to say that Kayla is looking so good. She is glowing, she looks so happy and confident. I am probably living vicariously through her, but I'm just so happy for her that she is feeling comfortable and content in her life. I love this yellow house, the layout, the decoration. I would live there in a heartbeat. 💛
Theres a reason why this will be recognized as a lilsimsie style build. Kayla is just SO GOOD at this I eat it up everytime! And this particular one definitely tastes like banana pudding. 😊
The Horse Ranch beds are uncomfortable but they are not labeled as such in the catalogue, in fact they have Discomfort Relief 1. I only know this because I've gotten mad about it so often lol.
Same with Highschool Years' beds, iirc. I just stopped using them after the 3rd Sim complained of back pains, I'd rather have a different look than the annoyance in gameplay 😂
Hey Kayla/fam.. I dont have very many cozy gaming friends... BUT have been dying to share this super successful week for me! after many years searching for new games like sims, stv, animal crossing, og harvest moon etc.. I found 2 games that tickle my fancy and im hoping some fellow gaming friends might enjoy! Horticular is a gardening simulator that reminds me alot of Roller coaster tycoon, its very adorable garden customization game where you build habitats for different species of animals! Im not really into income base games but this has been super cute and really fun! Also, and more importantly. another fellow creator was playing this live which I never heard of, its literally animal crossing and stardew combined together WHILE keeping that gorgeous 90s aesthetic that I loved in games, its called Fields of Mistria! I was worried it would be very similar to the faults of other farming sims, but this is the first one Ive actually really really loved basically as much as stardew, my favorite part is how alive the town feels.. which I know changes once you get to know npcs and their schedules, but I have really been enjoying!
Between this and the blue suburbans I'm starting to think that Kayak's secret agenda is to make builds that are visually appealing to people with the same color blindness that dogs have lmao
It’s cute that you think that’s a weird kitchen layout. It’s actually super normal to have a kitchen peninsula open onto the great room/den. I would have extended it one or two tiles though so that you could add bar stools. Also, why would you want all the same shade of yellow? That would be so boring and absolutely eye wateringly painful.
I'm on team mid-size. Small lots can be tough for spacing out the floorplans, large lots are also rough as someone has zero skills for landscaping. 30x30 is my comfort zone.
OMG KAYLA!! HAVE FUN SEEING TAYLOR!!! I would totally watch a video if you uploaded one about the eras tour (getting ready, going to the concert, etc) Have an amazing timeee
I absolutely love small houses, weird shapes, weird placements etc, it's so much more fun! Like the kitchen, I just love how you did it because it's so uncommon😄
My sweet spot regarding houses is not the size, but the amount of floors. I struggle so much with using houses that have stairs and two or more stories that I avoid them at any cost 😅
I have watched your channel for several years now and I always take your building tips to heart. My wife was the Simmer in our household but I got into it when it went free-to-play and I've gotten so much better at building that sometimes I help her with her builds. She was recently building a cult compound and was struggling with the layout and I suggested making the houses smaller like you always say and it helped her a lot!
I definitely prefer small-medium sized houses because they’re easier to clutter and make more lived-in. However, in all of my saves, even the short lifespan ones, they get too rich too quick so I end up building their house and then cheating their money to be lower because I hate when they have too much money and too big of a house
you should do a video on like doing the rainbow but every new item u do is the next color in the rainbow. like the first item u use is red, the next one is orange all the way to purple then u start back at red again
I love how she says having macthing/same bathrooms is like a bad thing?? it's super normal where I live lmao it's more cohesive, I think- and pretty expected around here (except in older houses, those are... wild)
Yeah I usually end up making a small hideous house to have everything I need in easy access and be able to keep track of my sims easily but visually/ideally I love big beautiful houses; wish they were easier to use! Would you consider making a historic house in the sims? Maybe Victorian with servants' quarters and a nursery? Love your vids!
i like playing the most in spacious bungalows, everything is on one floor so no losing sims and since there is a lot of space, there are no issues with routing etc. the issue is, it’s so hard to find a cute big bungalows, even as real-life floor plans so i struggle 😅
Months ago or not your houses are always so superior and my favorite to use! I’m sure we all will take anything you wanna show us so never apologize for showing off builds done awhile back!! & HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLA!! 🎉
I definitely prefer bigger lots, especially to play in, but also to build on. For building I like putting things in rooms that you may not expect, like putting a slide in a toddler's room, or giving a teen a library nook with a built in desk + computer AND a comfy chair with a lamp besides it so you can read there easily. Or putting a small dance floor and a stereo by their mirror because they like to dance (or at least that's what I would imagine for that space). You can just give the sims you imagine living there so much more personality if you give them the space for it. Also building things like castles/palaces is super fun! But you need a lot of space to build all of that and I hate being restricted by a lack of space to truly be creative. For playing in I prefer bigger spaces (and ones that are usually less cluttered), because it makes it easier to find the objects you want your sim to use, and to have them build a lot of different skills. I never really have a problem finding my sims, even on a bigger lot, but I do love having the space for a rocket ship and an observatory, for example, if I'm playing with a sim who wants to be an astronaut. I also really hate the walls glitching and getting in my view all the time and not having both enough indoor and outdoor space. I like having space and imagining what my sim would do with it, I find it inspirational to the point where it could change the plot I have planned for a sim. (They may become more outdoorsy and get really into gardening for example, or get a cow and discover a knack for farming, then change their aspiration to a farming one, or nature preservation one, etc etc, you get the idea). Basically I just like having the space to play with. It's fun.
Aaaand Coldplay-Yellow is now plyaing non-stop in my head)) I rememeber I had to make all the houses quite big in the Sims 2, because sims just couldn't get around anything, they'd be stuck constantly, blowing candles in the living room but going outside to age up etc. So I'm really glad that now sims are adjusted to live in much tighter spaces.
This might genuinely be my favorite build that I’ve seen of yours so far!!! I just LOVE how you handled the rooms and I can genuinely see playing in this house and how fun it would be!!! Might actually be the first house I download instead of build!! 💛💛💛
oh my, the downstairs floorplan is EXACTLY the same when I build my sims houses/apartments. This is super cute and I'm obssessed with the custom bookshelves around the fireplace, very pretty
I feel the same way, LOVE building castles and sprawling estates but CANNOT stand trying to play in them. Takes so much longer to do literally anything.
I love the yellow stuff in the game!! I just started playing again after 2 years. And with all the changes that have been made, it's even more fun to me.
I’m a small house simmer, tiny house (typically the 64 tile one) if I can. I like the boosts and it’s easier to get around. I also like playing with like 1 sim though so that plays into it

I need the rooms big enough that interactions don’t require them to leave the room, like pre-woohoo things, like someone else was mentioning, but overall I like larger houses but fuller/smaller rooms. It's actually better when the colors don't exactly match. It gives the build dimension and makes things coordinate well
