The Surin Phuket, 5 Star resort

  • We check out a magical 5-star resort called The Surin Phuket. I was amazed how fast I was able to feel relaxed and at home at this resort. Sometimes it takes a day or two to change gears and chill out. This was 5 nights well spent. Located about 30 minutes from the airport and a 25 minute drive from Patong, nothing is that far away.
    If you want to unwind and relax, then I can recommend The Surin Phuket for its location, food and service. The property was well maintained, and the beach and breakfast staff went above and beyond to make the stay memorable. The hotel backs on to Pansea beach, a NO jet ski and speedboat zone so it is private, quiet and relaxing with nice beach walks and free use of the water toys like paddle boards , canoe's and snorkel gear.
    The General Manager Franck, was very proactive, checking the guests were happy and available to take feedback and answer questions. We saw him many mornings doing the rounds at breakfast getting direct guest feedback rather than relying on staff to keep him updated. This is a great sign that the resort is not just sitting back and relying on its location and amenities to please guests. Management are hands on and interested in how they can improve the guest experience.

      It is a great resort. Very relaxing, We will go back on a future trip. I'm just about to go back to Phuket later this month but will stay in some other locations that we had previously cancelled and got credits on due to Covid. Wish I had some extra days to stay at Surin again

    Excellent review. We stayed at The Surin in May this year and couldn’t fault it. Superb staff, fantastic food (although expensive) and so restful. The sea in May/June is very rough and so not possible to swim or snorkel but our villa, right on the beach was fantastic. Great service from the on beach bar too - very reasonable cocktails delivered directly to the sun deck at the villa. Used the limousine service from the airport and back, again faultless. Local restaurants just minutes away down the beautiful tree lined drive on the road outside the resort are very cheap and great quality - as usual for Thailand. A most relaxing weeks stay - we will definitely be back!

      Thanks for your feedback. Good information about the sea in May. When we stayed the ocean was flat as you can see in the video review. Sounds like they have still maintained their high standards with food and service. I can’t wait to go back again.

I am planning to take my parents on a trip to Phuket and have been worrying about the stairs which so many people complained about on booking, I have decided on taking the delux rooms after watching your vid so they dont have to go through the trouble of these stairs! Thanks man!

If you go into the Patong area eat at the Savoy sea food on the main road along the beach. Great sea food and chicken satay

      I think it might be and that is saying a lot because there are so many resorts and the standard and competition is high across Phuket. I have many more videos to edit. And there are some other that are great and some expensive ones that disappointed.

      No I have not been to naka, I have been to Koh Yao yai on my last trip. naka is very close to the main island of Phuket. All those islands are simple to get to. Boats travelling all the time. I find many very similar to Phuket. Further away like Krabi and Koh Lanta have a different feel. Koh Lanta very laid back. Old town is nice. Koh Lipe is totally different. Koh Lipe has amazing coral and fish. Very relaxing but takes about 3 hours by speed boat. But worth it. Walking street is great, not sleezy, good shops and restaurants.

    Thanks for this video. Am considering between Surin and Sala Phuket Mai Khao. Did u try the latter and any advise? For Sala there are many videos on the room but not much on the beach. Clear water and flat beaches are important for me.

    • @globebug
      @globebug  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer the beach at Surin myself. Private beach , not too long but big enough at about 800 meters, protected more from wind and sea. Surin is closer to many of the other areas that you may want to travel to. I have not been to Sala ( I have been to that beach ) but I think it is a little far away from everything. I am sure Sala is a great hotel and I have looked at it online. Surin does have a. Magic about it unlike many other hotels. Sala looks flat and easy to walk around while Surin is on a hill . Both hotels look good. Sala just looks a little far away for me and there are many other hotels that look similar. Surin is ,my pick.. let me know what you decide as a matter of interest.

    Amazing video! I just booked 4 nights for Dec. Any recommendations of restaurants or shops to check out around The Surin? Am also considering renting a car to drive around. Did you do that?

    • @youtubefunstuff
      @youtubefunstuff ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very jealous, wish I was going again soon. December is a good time weather wise. The hotel is better than the video. All great things can not be captured on video. We found it really relaxing and the food was great. The French hotel manager cares about the property and the guests.
      There are many restaurants but we tended to go to catch a taxi to the Savoy a lot at Patong. Taxi easier than driving because of parking. There is another classic that you should go to near old town called Raya.You can park there in the rear car park. Very good Thai food. Seafood market at Rawai Beach is good also. Old fishing village. plenty of parking. Sunset at Blue Shark at Kata Noi Beach is great also.
      The other option which can be cheaper than renting a car is to get a driver. They have air-conditioned mini vans and will drive you anywhere and wait. You can drive around all day and don't have to worry about parking. Temple, restaurant, Big Buddha , where ever, makes it easy. We use a guy called Sarawut Pinthongphan his short nick name is Pae sounds a bit like Pear. Phone 094 390 4612 ( or use the Line App, messaging , name Van Vip 8 ) they cost about 10 - 15 AUD ( USD$7 ) an hour . I think they have three vans. Our friends put us on to him and we have used their service the last 3 visits. Very clean and safe. You can leave valuables in the van no problem. I am still yet to edit a bunch of videos on other hotels and things to do in Phuket. Will post soonish , so subscribe and you will see them. I'm sure you'll have a great trip

    I was thinking of booking here for June, the only deterrent is the lack of pools. It seems to only have one pool which is small. Of the sea is rough, it's kinda limited

    • @globebug
      @globebug  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the sea is flat we never use the pool, beach is safe and long but as you say it does not have a huge river like pool system like say the banyan tree or others along that coast.
