Wait, the game has the "mouse over" cast functionality built in these days though.
You just have to toggle it on in the options.
@@Petq011 Its unfortunately quite limited compared to mouse over macros but hopefully they improve on it
awesome vid, as a returning player i knew most of this once but after years away had forgotten most of it. this was like a quick refresher course for me. you've no doubt saved me time and frustration with this
For the chat windows you can just right click the channel name and say open in new tab or something along that line. it will appear on the chat just like in the video but also auto clears it from the general tab. saves steps
One trick I’ve used for years is to change my movement keys from WASD to ESDF, basically shifting one button to the right. It opens up more buttons on the left of your movement keys but keeps you close enough to still hit SHIFT, CAPS, and such so you can still use modifiers.
It takes some getting used to, but the increased functionality is wonderful.
You need to stop

I just use ASD
Strafe left, forward, strafe right. Never backpeddle, learn the strafe turn jumps :D
straight to jail with this. i have 60 easily reachable keybinds with normal setup so theres really no need for this lmao
This is what I do after seeing that tip a few years back. I tend to put things like quick heals or getaway moves on Q and Z.

just found your channel and wanted to say thank you for this. i've been playing since the beginning but always as a casual player. i considered macros, add ons, key binding, etc. as things for raiders and pvpers. the "quality of life" caught my attention and i'm so glad i watched. there's definitely a few changes i'll be making. the whole interact option, esp with fishing, is going to be great.

The "MaxCamera" trick was one of the most useful things in the game. And then in Legion (I think?) it was taken away because it trivialized the grappling hook puzzles. I think it was then the middle of SL it was accidentally put back in .. and then like 2 months later they took it out. All that to say: I just tried your macro (which is the same as it's always been) and .. it doesn't work.
I'm not sure what you were showcasing in the video, but when I invoke that console command, I can't zoom out any farther. Which is what I expected because, for some dumb reason, Blizzard doesn't want us to zoom out any further than the default 1.9.
Enabled most of this immediately. Great video - very informative!
I have the Brazier of Awakening and never knew where i got it from. Very useful as a tank if my healer dies.

Gotta say, most of these videos are click bait garbage that anyone who's played more than 5 minutes would know. This one, however, is actually really good. Played this game since BC and there were a few things in there that were new to me. Very well done :)
This is great, learned some new things, so thanx for that.
My personal best tip is:
Bind a movement ability to an easy keybinding!
For me it started with the (back then brand new) monks - roll (shift-space) and that flying serpent kick (ctrl-space)
i then adapted this to my main, my druid - cat form (shift-space) and wild charge (ctrl-space)

I had my warlock macrod for my mouse wheel, with mouse over effects. I.e up applies a curse. Down applied corruption. Putting it cast an AOE spell.
Also had a macro for hearthstone, which clicked to use if i had a stone or make one if i didnt..
Sooooo bloody handy.

What addon are you using for your player frames and action bars?
You can remove the red error text on skill use with a line in a macro too if you don't want to find a mod to do so.
I can't remember off the top of my head what the syntax is but I remember macroing nearly all my skills back in the day on my warrior to keep my screen clear of "insufficient rage" warning.
I couldnt find anything that worked when trying to remove it for myself so would appreciate knowing what that macro is!
@@Syiler Sure, currently unsubbed so I can't log in to check my cache, but I'm pretty sure this was the core, "UIErrorsFrame:Clear()". Googling has some people talking about it maybe being depreciated though. Resubbing soon for Season of Discovery so I'll check back in with you once I have access to my macros.
@@Syiler Resubbed and sorry to say that I've looked back through my macros and was unable to find any of my older ones that would have contained any anti error syntax despite finding a few that still contained "ranked skills". My macro banks seem suspiciously empty on a few characters so I think when they depreciated this function they also cleared any macros containing it. Bit more google-fu and here's the full text:
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
Including that line at the top of all my macros was at one time common, promptly followed by: #Showtooltip

@@Syiler /script UIErrorsFrame:Hide(); you will have to click the macro everytime you log in though. it doesn't remove it forever just for each session.

ESDF has always been superior to WASD simply because of how many keys it leaves for your pinky.
This was the norm in the early stages of PC gaming. I don't know how or why it was ever changed.
Forgive me for the dumbest exclamation of delight you're probably going to ever read... but! I've played WoW since BC and I've never quite figured out why when I watch people play in videos/streams they moved differently to me. It's your strafe binding tip! So thanks to you this ancient player finally gets it and will be applying the change. Bless you.

Can the @player or @cursor be also done to @target? Would be very useful for group casting macros so I can include AoEs.
Don't forget if wanting to use the brazer. Make sure it's no where close to mobs and when it rez you, you'll have very low hp. If there are any mobs near it when rez, you might get killed again.
As a fellow mount collector i been using a very nice macro since wrath, that lets you also random mount but since it a macro you can make seperate ones for land/flying and aquatic (since the build in random mount will always pick flying when you can fly) and even seperate them per character which is very nice if you got alot of mounts and alts and want to match mounts to certain classes
The macro is /castrandom mountname, mountname, mountname
Obviously you just replace the mountname with whatever mounts you like to use the only drawback to this is mounts with a , in the name itself those will brick the macro

I think this is what you are looking for. I know it stops it for channels, idk about charge and clicking because I have been using it for so long idk if that’s the same thing.
To disable camera turning on channeled spells, simply copy and paste the following into your chat window:
/console cameraSmoothTrackingStyle 0
Should you want to re-enable camera tracking, the command to do so is:
/console cameraSmoothTrackingStyle 1

Question I noticed on the gathering part of the video sometimes world quests maybe dungeons give you an extra action button how do I move that to 1 side like in your video?

There's an addon called Move Anything. The name speaks for itself. I use it since Wotlk 😊
I play a healer and pretty much only do PVP / pug BGs. It takes a few mins, but usually one or two people on my team will be awesome and stand out. It is these people I wish to be able to focus my heals on and prioritize. Is there an addon / macro or something I can use to easily flag a person as high priority?
Error Filter and Mute Sound File are great for error frame and error sound elimination

I just do /w syiler and then press space after and it becomes a whisper to myself, an alternative is you could try your name + realm so /w syiler-ravencrest spacebar
I like how in wow you have to look for everything deep in menu while in swtor everything is simple and some basic settings are already enabled. I know it is smaller game but still... 🙂
The camera command did not work for me. I tried putting it lower and that DID work. How was I at the 2.6 distance already?

To disable the mashing button sound, put this in your macros
/run SetCVar("Sound_EnableSFX","0")
/cast SKILL
/run SetCVar("Sound_EnableSFX","1")
You can get rid of the error text of spells by makro everything. I use smth like this a lot to spam spells and also switch to next target if the previous dies:

the mouseover macro, is there any way to make AoE spells drop on current target rather than where the mouse is?
Think just at feet or cursor, dont think theres a way to do it at current target
@Syiler you know you taught people to be bad with mouseover macro's. There is an option now in the combat settings (its the 8th option from the bottom) that lets you turn on mouseover casting for every spell and ability in the game........
Ive tried it out and its a worse version of mouse over macros tbh, you've forced to only use frames and limited to one modifier. Mouse overs or addons like Clique are still way ahead in terms of use cases but hopefully blizzard improves on their version!

for fishing, you said to keybind fishing and interact key. so how do you use the fishing macro with the keybind fishing? i'm dumb and don't get it
the fishing macro to change the range only needs to be pressed once during your fishing session. After that you can just put the fishing ability on your bars and bind the interact key and youre good to go
if you right click on the dragon isles adventures you can choose between ALL the previous expansions things.
If you mean just right clicking on the Dragon Isles icon on your minimap then that sounds like youve got an addon doing that as by default it doesnt do that
I have to get used to this Q/E stuff... I shall change F numbers because its hard to reach them while strafing without E/Q :(

Is it possible that the Macros does´nt work by german servers? I tried the Camera Makro with 3.5 and nothing happend.
But if you press right click the A and D work as Q and E thus freeing those two
that then locks your mouse cursor, so in content like M+ where swapping to important targets needs to be done quickly, harder to do when youre utilising mouse for movement and tab target is unreliable with large packs

I get most of these, but on I have NEVER understood - changing your strafing buttons to AD.
Yes, QE as fast access buttons are great, but I CONSTANTLY use strafe+turn to rotate my character while my mouse is free to click at something/target the next mob or player. If you remove your ability to turn with your keyboard you are forced to use your mouse for that, which takes that freedom away. Why would anyone ever do that????

But the macros generate a lot of LUA errors, like even when I don't display them there's a message warning me that there are a lot of errors :/

You can actually right click and outright make it it's own window.
Right click "trade[services]" -> create new window
This overrides the main channel and removes it from your chat moving forwards
Saves a few clicks, I do it all the time

I tried turning off the Q and E a long time ago because everyone said "You won't miss them, you don't use them, they're valuable keybinds." It turns out I do use them for spinning the camera while I'm strafing because you can use Q+A to strafe while spinning the camera to get a better view of your surroundings. Which I do constantly. So I keep them. 🤷

@@ranger-du7gk i use both the keyboard and the mouse. The keyboard keeps my character moving in the correct direction while I spin the camera with the mouse.
dude literally chose the worst example of making a list of ingredients whispering to himself when the crafting order menu has a track recipe button.
I chose that to slip in the extra tip about the fact you can track the work order recipes, doesnt take away from the fact that you can still whisper yourself
Imagine needing a degree in computer science to play a game. Imagine having to download 20 add-ons to make the game play and game mechanics bearable.
imagine pretending the game is "unbearable" without these. imagine thinking any of these require "a degree in computer science". get over yourself.
Btw you never need to use /cast. /use works with every ability and saves one letter :D
Ok that one option so you can see the health number and PERCENTAGE ony our unit frame was big thing for me. I was playing this since they updated the ui.. Couldnt find this option. That i had to use a unitframe addon Z-Perl for it. Because i could see % and health numbers. Now i can get rid of that addon and keep my ui clean. Very important when you are raiding. Especialy when i play on my alts that have execute abilities. Not fun when you are waiting for that execute button to shine.. All becuase you cant see how much % the boss is at.. And you cant gauge what the bar is telling you.. Is it 40%... or 39%.. And most interesting when you wipe on a boss. Not knowing how far your group got.
Plater is a nice addon for that. It shows all the useful stuff and your debufs on top of the nameplate. You can see who interrupted cast, all the CC etc.
