For anyone looking for probuilder it is now in the package manager, be sure to click the packages: In project drop down menu and select unit registry and then scroll down till you find it
i love how the unity team thinks about people who are still hobbyists and actually pays for the essential assets that help a lot and makes the overall quality of the projects made with unity better
I've used ProBuilder for a couple of years now. Brackeys only touched on the surface of course. There's also the possibility of importing regular art assets, from Blender, or from the asset store, and these can also be manipulated on a vertex level directly in Unity, even if you're not the creator per se. Any PB object can of course also be turned into a prefab like always. Brackeys tower in the video can easily be turned into a single object by merging them. And if one is crazy pedantic about rotations, like myself, everything should be at 0,0,0 imo, instead of turning the object itself, like with the stairs in the video, it's possible to mark all faces and then rotate those around a common axis with the regular rotation tool in Unity. The object will stay at whatever rotation angle you choose. I usually do my extrudes with Ctrl+E, and the amount can be predetermined via the settings. I do a lot of face extrdues, but also edges. To the best of my knowledge though, it's not possible to extrude from a vertex and you can't manually place a specific vertex at a coordinate with the Inspector, unfortunately. You will need to rely on your eyes or ProGrids to get a vertex where you want it if it happens to land off grid.
No, Unity did not need that. Unity is a game engine, not a 3d modeling software and most of the people won't just start using Unity PB instead of Maya, 3dsMax or Blender. However, this may be very helpful for young people who do not have any 3d modeling skill to start creating own games with "built-in" assets.
It's not just for "young people," it's for people who can't be arsed to fire up a full-blown 3D modelling application with all its extra tools and features when all that's needed for simple prototyping or design is a quick in-editor option.
except that when you have problem, which you always will, there is no tutorials or not enough people that can help you solve it in a quick timely manner compare to using maya or blender.
Brackeys! Thanks to you, I just became a finalist in my Universities Hackathon! It was my first one and me and two friends worked really hard, and made a really cool platformer! Our team won most creative game and runner-up to best software design/principles! I got a Logitech G602 and a sweet medal that I have to dedicate to teaching me most of the Unity I know. Thank you Brackeys!
Probuilder is such a time saver. I've used it for my project (VR) and in fact, for VR simple geometry works great and it's versatile enough to have interesting and detailed shapes. For the finer stuff, there are asset tools, or a dedicated 3D program. Just an amazing tool!
the link doesnt work, now the probuilder is in package Manager(in unity go to window--> Package Manager---->Package:Unity register) and you can install from there :P
I have over a hundred hours in Hammer, the Source 1 engine map creator. Let me just say. This tool is certainly powerful I'm sure I could create a "city" insanely fast using this tool. The fact you can import and export right from blender is also huge.
Great video Brackeys! This really helped me out and now I can actually build things instead of having to create objects and slightly move them every time. Thanks again Brackeys!
@@armanx2 Blender is a 3D model creation software used by professionals. It's a professional tool which allows for the creation of 3D models with very much detail including Animations, Rigging, Texture painting, shaders and materials. ProBuilder is much more like a prototype tool for anyone to pick up who does not have any professional knowledge of modelling, but needs to design levels with 3D assets without spending money on actual models. Hope I helped :)
@@bl1tz229 not really but we appreciate the attempt. Everything you said was implied already. We were looking for a specific example. For example the most complex thing I'm doing is cutting chunks out of meshes with other meshes. Is that also possible in ProBuilder? Stuff like that.
Now I have started learning ProBuilder, actually I am quite surprised, for some projects it would be enough to use ProBuilder and not depend on other 3D design programs. That is tremendously great. Your videos have always oriented me a lot, thanks Brackeys
Excellent video, I learned the basics to handle this asset, you make yourself understand very well despite the fact that English is not my mother tongue, congratulations, you are great for publishing these practical tutorials.
This tool looks incredibly useful. Now I just wish I actually had the skills to make games. Oh well, I'm sure it'll come to me if I keep following Brackeys' videos. Which is why, from today on, I am subscribed to Brackeys :P
It's a billion times better than hammer, it's all done live, no compile times, no need to 'optimize' with bullshit techniques that you have to find out from others.
Yo, I just want to stress to anyone who might be reading this that ProBuilder with ProGrids is the single best level design devkit for Unity indie developers out there, 2D or 3D. Not only do you not have to open up and potentially learn Blender, but ProBuilder is actually easier to use than Blender and you don't have to worry about export/import logistics. Just take a good hour or so to get familiar and comfortable with it and you will see. You can also use it for lower poly character/prop modeling, no problem. I'm not sure about skeletal rigging support, but the animation tools are pretty much on par with Blender.
seems to have came along way from the basic and advanced versions. but is still good to quickly create simple objects such as low poly and detail buildings and non interactive objects from my experience of it and has proved to be a bit of a time saver...
Thanks for the awesome overview. Saw this pop up the other day. Now that I know it's actually owned by unity I'll use to keep all my modeling in one place
THANK YOU! Been waiting for this tutorial. Awesome! XD Update: I have actually finished this video. My current project doesn't use any of this... why is sad BECAUSE THIS IS SO COOL. Again, thanks for the vid!
Ho-ly-shit! This is exactly what I was waiting for … and it’s already there, I just missed it. :D I’m to stupid (or impatient) for blender, so this will be the way to go. Thanks once again.
Can you make a tutorial on how to make a first-person character? As well as building interactions between objects around the player? Like, E to open a door?
Could you do a tutorial on how to do a leveling up system? I've watched a few but there not as interesting and upbeat like your videos, I actually get excited about coding when I watch your videos lol.

That is amazing that Unity now comes with an in-built modeller - the UV editor is a lovely addition too - all amazing stuff!
It's like a cross between Doom sectors and radiant brushes. Really incredible.

Barna David Legend says if you're looking for a good unity tutorial brackeys will post one

Been using ProBuilder Basic and ProGrids for quite a while. Could never afford the full ProBuilder so this is great.
